"Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him.
There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time.
Used to dream until I stopped writing fiction
All right well that's not true
Maybe it ended when I ended competition
Because I'd always lose
My therapist could never classify conditions
Alright whats wrong already
My pharmacist had better fill up my prescriptions
Here just take two of these and call me in the morning
Oh oh oh won't you carry me home
It's the last time in life that I'll ever try
The streets were flooded and in the tides were pessimists
So I just dove right in I felt at home
I felt alive I felt that I fit in
So I'll just keep dreaming
Wait for the wind to blow
Can't carry myself can't carry me home
On my own will
Wait for the wind to blow
Can't bury myself can't carry us both
On my own will
All right well that's not true
Maybe it ended when I ended competition
Because I'd always lose
My therapist could never classify conditions
Alright whats wrong already
My pharmacist had better fill up my prescriptions
Here just take two of these and call me in the morning
Oh oh oh won't you carry me home
It's the last time in life that I'll ever try
The streets were flooded and in the tides were pessimists
So I just dove right in I felt at home
I felt alive I felt that I fit in
So I'll just keep dreaming
Wait for the wind to blow
Can't carry myself can't carry me home
On my own will
Wait for the wind to blow
Can't bury myself can't carry us both
On my own will

Hayalperest
Hayalperest
This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere.
In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.

This is a sequel to 2001's "Reckless Abandon", and features the band looking back on their clumsy youth fondly.

Ed Sheeran
“Blue” is a song about a love that is persisting in the discomfort of the person experiencing the emotion. Ed Sheeran reflects on love lost, and although he wishes his former partner find happiness, he cannot but admit his feelings are still very much there. He expresses the realization that he might never find another on this stringed instrumental by Aaron Dessner.
Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.
no comments on this song? this is one of my faves, if not THE FAVE.
AMAZING
i think that the guy has horribble claustrophobia problems and that the people couldnt fix it so he has to go everywhere with someone so that when he gets claustrophobic he has someone to carry him home when he passes out because he cant carry himself home then in the end he goes somewhere without someone and he pases out and dies and cant bury himself or the person whos suppossed to be with him because they will be charged for murder and will get the chair!
Easily the best song on So Sudden.
I think it's about depression: he doesn't dream anymore, he can't seem to succeed in anything he tried to do ("I'd always lose"), the therapist is no help and just gives him more pills. He's being drowned by a tide of pessimists, etc.
And then in the third verse, he actuall dream, though he previously stated he couldn't, and he dreams that he feels like he fits in.
Saying "Carry me home" is just asking to find a place where he feels like he belongs.
omg i love this song. it needs a music video. i'll make it! um okay. i think this song is about a relationship because it's like he found "the perfect girl" and now he's all happy etc. wait i just forgot where i was going with this... oh yeah. okay so he's like all depressed like noseovertail said and so when he meets her, he can think and everything again. this has to be my favorite song on this album.
I think this song is ment to be a reflection." Used to dream until I stopped writing fiction All right well that’s not true Maybe it ended when I ended competition Because I’d always lose" I also agree with noseovertail711 on the carry me home place where he belongs. Also i think this part" Wait for the wind to blow Can’t carry myself can’t carry me home On my own will Can't let you go just yet Can't bury my self can't carry us both On my own will" is about waiting for some sort of catalyst to get things movng because the person does not feel thay can do it alone. The other person that was mentioned "can't carry us both on my own will" is someone the person is trying to help along with themself.

I agree with noseovertail, but with him saying he "Can't carry [himself]", like he's so overloaded with burden he needs someone to "carry [him] home."
i saw this interview w/ The Hush Sound and Greta said that So Sudden was a CD based on fantasy whereas Like Vines is more Reality
soo this song is not Reality
i just love the beat to this song.
