Lauletaas me nuoret tytöt
että muutkin kuulee.
Ettei meitä tään kylän pojat
vallan mykiks luule.

Surut heitän pitkin teitä
ilot otan myötä.
Missä näen nätin pojan
siellä olen yötä.

Tälläisiikös tässä kyläs
parraat pojat onkii.
Niinku siat riihen eessä
toisiansa tonkii.

Niinhä nuokii pojat onku
muurin takkaa tullu.
Joka tuonki pojan ottaa
se on aivan hullu.

Tään kylän pojat pittäis panna
yhteen aijan rakkoo.
Hohtimilla rutistaa
ja vasaralla takkoo.

Tässä kyläss likat on ku
paatin nenäpuita
Meijn kylän tytöt on ku
tauluun maalatuita.

Tämän kylän tytöt ne on
pienii pallukoita.
Matalia, mustia ku
tervatallukoita.

Tämän kylän tytöt ne on
matalii ja mustii.
Meijän kylän varikset on
samallaisii justiin.

Mie se oon se pikku likka
pikkunen ku kissa.
Enkä muualla oliskaan
ku poikain kammarissa.

Synniks sitä sanotaan ja
syntihän se lienee.
Ruveta ja heretä sen
hurjan pojan viereen.

Ui ui ui...

Niinku sinnuu rakastin
ja saman verran muita.
Leikilläni halasin ja
suikkasin mie suuta.

Hella luuli ett mie suren
enkä sinne päinkään.
Uusi ol jo kahottuna
ennenku vanha jäikään.

Elä sure, elä huoli
elä poika raukka.
Miustä saat sie hyvän akan,
juomarin ja laiskan.

Heila minnuu moitiskelee
kun mie viinaa nautin.
Vaan ei jaksa halata,
jos vettä juo kuin hauki.

Tuolta tullee sorja poika,
voi sitä onnetonta.
Kun ei tiedä kenen ottaa
kun meitä on näin monta.

Ui ui ui ui ui ui ui...

I love this song; I first heard it on the TV show "Arthur" and it was the Binky Song. I found the English translation of the lyrics and was a little surprised to say the least!

So us young girls let's do some singing so that others can hear us too. So that the village boys don't think we are all dumb.

If sorrow comes along I'll throw it away but pleasure I will take with me. Everywhere I'll see a pretty boy I'll sleep over at his house.

So this is how the best village boys are like? Like pigs in front of the drying house they push each other.

And so are those boys just like they just came out from behind the stove She who will have any of those boys is completely mad.

The village boys should be put into a tiny hole and squeese with pincers and bang with a hammer

These village girls are not pretty at all The girls in our home village are beautiful like in a painting.

These village girls are small and fat, short and black as tar glimps.

These village girls are short and black ones The crows in our village are just like them.

But I'm the little girl, little as a cat And I wouldn't stay anywhere else than in boy's room

They say it's a sin and I guess it indeed is a sin When you start making out with that wild boy

    Ui ui ui...

I loved you some and I loved other some too I just was playing around when I hugged and kissed you

My boyfriend thought that I was longing for him No such thoughts at all! I had a new boyfriend already at sight before I dumped the old one

Don't be sad, don't worry you poor boy I'll make a nice wife for you, drunk and lazy one

My boyfriend is blaming me for heavy drinking But I'll be too tired to hug him if I keep drinking water like pikes do

Oh there comes a pretty boy oh poor him 'cause he can't make up his mind who to choose 'cause there's so many of us.

Standing On The Edge Of Summer

In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

Punchline
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran sings about missing his former partner and learning important life lessons in the process on “Punchline.” This track tells a story of battling to get rid of emotions for a former lover, whom he now realized might not have loved him the same way. He’s now caught between accepting that fact and learning life lessons from it and going back to beg her for another chance.

There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.
