"bare hotel room" - she's poor
"So hard to believe, that you're dreaming of me too
But it's true" - she's actually having nightmares about being bullied.
"You only go around, round, round..." -she's being chased in circles, in her dream
"At Amsterdam, I never knew you so well" - the name of the school is Amsterdam Elementary
"The stadium rings with laughter, at every turn" - the stadium is the school cafeteria and people laugh as Jackie is chased around the room

I think my interpretation fits in with it - he says "Nothing could be further from the truth. I didn't go out with her at all. I mean, a few nights - she's a nice girl - I suppose I had a fling"
If she was a prostitute I don't think "she only goes around, round, round" would carry as much weight.
And I don't think he is in love with her - when he says "I'd like to say, that I was on your mind\ So I phone you at ten past three, in the afternoon\ It's evening for you, and another bare hotel room" he means that he's hoping she is sitting in an empty bedroom feeling horny for him. So they're calling each other up so they can meet up.
Again, he wouldn't expect a prostitute to be thinking about him.
I don't know what the Jackie Big Tits reference means though, I haven't seen that movie.

I thought the laughter at the beginning was really cute..
But that's just how I saw it, I know that's wrong though haha.
Oh & does the beginning sound like those tickle-me-elmo things to anybody else? Haha, cause that's instantly what I thought of when I heard it.
