.."it is a very sad thing that nowadays there is so little useless information" - OW

OW he is famed for his wit and commentary of society at that time in London.
His plays are excellent statements of the time and many books cite his words of wisdom and wit - Morrissey would naturally be fascinated by such a fellow - "one's only real life is the life one never leads..."- OW

I doubt Morrissey did much more then name this one.
It was probably Marr organizing an instrumental.

I love this song!! I wish there were more instrumentals like it. I heard or read somewhere that Morrissey is the one on the piano...

The title of this song is a pun on the name Oscar Wilde". The song never had lyrics written for it as the melody was deemed strong enough.

Oscar Wilde's best poem is The Ballad of Reading Gaol. It was written while he was in prison and it's one of my absolute favorites.

I can only think of two Smith songs that are instrumentals: "Oscillate Wildly" in Louder Than Bombs, and "Money Changes Everything" in The World Won't Listen. I really like them both. Any others out there?

OW wrote The Picture of Dorian Gray, where in it a man goes down 'the wrong singful path' as it would be and takes part in homosexual acts. I've never liked this instrumental though, I much prefer Money Changes Everything

This song is all Johnny Marr. Morrissey did literally nothing on this song. Am I the only person in the world who realizes how similar this song is to Joy Division's "Decades"? I much prefer the Smith's song, which has a much more complex melody, and a better pop sense, but I think that Joy Division were probably influencing Marr at the time

And stop talking about Oscar Wilde. There's gotta be plenty of forums for you goons to go do that this one is about music
