Lyrics for All Around Me as interpreted by QBlue_12

All Around Me Lyrics
My hands are searching for you
My arms are outstretched towards you
I feel you on my fingertips
My tongue dances behind my lips for you

This fire rising through my being
Burning I'm not used to seeing you

I'm alive, I'm alive

I can feel you all around me
Thickening the air I'm breathing
Holding on to what I'm feeling
Savoring this heart that's healing

My hands float up above me
And you whisper you love me
And I begin to fade
Into our secret place

The music makes me sway
The angels singing say we are alone with you
I am alone and they are too with you

I'm alive, I'm alive

I can feel you all around me
Thickening the air I'm breathing
Holding on to what I'm feeling
Savoring this heart that's healing

And so I cry
The light is white
And I see you

I'm alive, I'm alive, I'm alive

I can feel you all around me
Thickening the air I'm breathing
Holding on to what I'm feeling
Savoring this heart that's healing

Take my hand
I give it to you
Now you owe me
All I am
You said you would never leave me
I believe you
I believe

I can feel you all around me
Thickening the air I'm breathing
Holding on to what I'm feeling
Savoring this heart that's healed

I honestly believe this song is about mourning a lost love. By lost I mean deceased. It makes sence to me.
I could be wrong but the lyrics seem somehow sad at times.
The fact she says " And I begin to fade into our secret place" makes me think of a human. If she was singing about god wouldn't she say his or your refering to heaven?
Just my opinion.

When she says my tounge dances behind my lips it means she is speaking in tounges. This is a very well known expression for that biblical Christian practice. I am really surprised more people dont know that?

I can see this song as a religious one but I'm not really a big religious person(long story, but I'm respectful of people's beliefs) but it can be that or a love song. Which is one of the reasons I like Flyleaf. Yes, they are a Christian rock band, but they play songs that can be seen as non-religious as well. Many times a band who plays Christian rock ends up being played exclusively on christian channels and they tend to focus on pleasing only their Christian fans. Flyleaf however makes it apparent that even though they are Christian, they care about ALL of their fans and the music itself.

i like this and im not sure which i think it is, love song, or prayer to god, both sound fitting so it could be a loving prayer to god since ive been told always to root prayers around god and his power and might rather the favor you ask for

it could be about god or whatever, but i dont relate to that at all

when i hear it, it sounds sad and desperate. my boyfriend died a while ago, and when i hear this song it reminds me of how his presence is still everywhere.

some people would have to know what conviction feels like whens she says i feel you on my fingertips before i gave my life to god when i was like 13 or 14 before i back slide i was feeling convicted at a church service and your fighting to go up to the alter and you fingertips are pressed against the pews turning white that is god trying to get u up their. i tried to explain this the best i could but im not very good at that as you can see lol.

This is what the lead singer says about the song...
http://flyleafonline.com/flyleafwiki/index.php?title=All_Around_Me

Live, Lacey has prefaced All Around Me by saying: This song is for Jesus.

"It's a song about meeting God. I remember looking at a bunch of people's Myspace when I first saw Myspace and the "Who I'd Like To Meet" the number one thing people picked was God. I think about that.. I don't know how many times I've experienced something where I felt like God showed up and saved me or loved me for no reason sometimes. That's why I sing this song, I sing it to God. It's really intimate as well, you can think about it as a relationship between two people in love, too. I never think about it that way.. but what's so cool about that is I think there's parallels everywhere.. in everything in life. I think that that parallel is something that God wants to communicate to us, that he gives us relationships like that, an intimacy like that." - Lacey Mosley (on LA Lloyd's ROCK 30)

The thing about this song is that it can mean many different things. For one, if you aren't one to really believe in a higher power, then you'll see this as a love song.

However, if you are a huge believer of god, then you'll only see this song as a prayer kind of thing.

I take it as both. She's talking about someone who's helping her through something, someone who she trusts more than anyone else. She's put her faith in someone or something to save her and now that it has, she wants it to stay. It can be taken romantically or religiously.

To me, this song is about the amazing relationship with God, but...i guess it could be about your boyfriend/girlfriend...i mean if someone really wants to sing about their boyfriend being all around them, and your arms being up stretched twords them.alright.. but..."My tongue dances behind my lips for you." crying out to Jesus, songs of praise, praying, things like that. but this song explains exactly how it feels when you worship God. it's an amazing feeling that no man or woman could ever give..opinion.

I doubt this is a double meaning. Why is it so hard to believe this is about God? It makes the most sense anyway.

"This fire rising through my being
Burning I'm not used to seeing you"

Not used to feeling/seeing the presence of God.

And God has said many times that He will not leave you, nor forsake you.

Yeah definitely about God.

My friend told me it was written for lacey's husband who died in war. And that honestly makes more sence then the crap you are fighting about. You said you would never leave me. Marriage. Savoring a heart that healed. Her knowning he's glad she still loves him but is also okay. Wow. Guys stop fighting and think of the words. Even if im wrong that isn't what matters. What matters is that meaning is what makes the song matter to me.

the sad thing is that people have to argue about what this song is about...
the band says that they are a christian rock band but why cant they just say "thank you jesus" or "God i love you" in their songs? if flyleaf said it more clearly in their songs no one would have to argue about what this song is really about. thats what i believe, but im not saying that this song isnt about God. if you hear really closely to the song during 2:15 in the background of the song it sounds like she's saying hallelujah...well it sounds like shes whispering it to me. the band should just put it out there and make it clear that they are a christian band, by actually saying "i love you jesus" or something that give's parise to God.

I suppose you can interpret this song any way you want to, but since they're a christian rock band i think it's pretty obviously about God.

This song is for sure about God. No doubt about it :)

My hands float up above me
And you whisper you love me
And I begin to fade
Into our secret place

When your hands 'float above you', it means you're raising your hands towards God in praise.

I'm pretty sure this song is about sex, honestly, and being in love.

Relaly, it's up to your interpretation. It could be about God. It really depends on how you WANT to see it.

And I've always thought this song was about love, so. I'm going to beileve that.

Yeah this song is definetly about God
& what she means by
"My tounge dances behind my lips for you"
Is She praises him. What she speaks is of him.

& in this song she's being saved by him

with the whole "i can feel you all around...."
She feels him there & w/o him she would die...
if she doesn't except him & take him in "thickening the air i'm breathing"

Notice how it went from "Savoring this heart that's healING"

TO

"Savoring this heart that's healED"

That's just what i thought this song was about.
