Lyrics for All Around Me as interpreted by QBlue_12

All Around Me Lyrics
My hands are searching for you
My arms are outstretched towards you
I feel you on my fingertips
My tongue dances behind my lips for you

This fire rising through my being
Burning I'm not used to seeing you

I'm alive, I'm alive

I can feel you all around me
Thickening the air I'm breathing
Holding on to what I'm feeling
Savoring this heart that's healing

My hands float up above me
And you whisper you love me
And I begin to fade
Into our secret place

The music makes me sway
The angels singing say we are alone with you
I am alone and they are too with you

I'm alive, I'm alive

I can feel you all around me
Thickening the air I'm breathing
Holding on to what I'm feeling
Savoring this heart that's healing

And so I cry
The light is white
And I see you

I'm alive, I'm alive, I'm alive

I can feel you all around me
Thickening the air I'm breathing
Holding on to what I'm feeling
Savoring this heart that's healing

Take my hand
I give it to you
Now you owe me
All I am
You said you would never leave me
I believe you
I believe

I can feel you all around me
Thickening the air I'm breathing
Holding on to what I'm feeling
Savoring this heart that's healed

It is a very beautiful praise song about how close she feels when God is so obvious in his presence in a person's life. I LOVE this band!!!!

Are you guys joking? This song is obviously a love song... Why would her tongue be dancing for god? That's just perverted on the highest level. It's a love song. Best song on the cd by far.

About what OneMoreDay's comment, when she says "My tongue dances behind my lips for you" She means she singing/praising to God. You know? When you talk you move your tongue- have you thought of that?

I admit, at first I thought it was a love song too but then I got to thinking. If you want to believe it's a love song or a worship song for God- only the band knows for sure.

The meaning of this song is about her relationship in God.

"My tongue dances behind my lips for you"

That doesn't mean that it is perverted to relate that to God. If you are going to take this on a litteral sense then how does a love song relate when she says

"And so I cry
The light is white
And I see you
I'm alive, I'm alive, I'm alive"

That is talking about her in heaven. It's only then when she is really alive. She has made it to the place she has always wanted to be. Everything is perfect.

"My hands float up above me
And you whisper you love me
And I begin to fade
Into our secret place"

That is talking about praise and worship. People raise their hands in praise. Most prayers contain some sense of love for God. Also, in prayer most people fade into their secret place where it is only the connection of them and God.

PLUS, lets think about this-- Flyleaf is a Christian rock band therefore I am pretty sure this is a song about God. You may think its a love song but it may just be her love for Jesus Christ.

This song is totally about God.

You're all right... this is most definately a love song. In fact, one of the most beautiful love songs I've ever heard. But the song is for God. Who better to sing love songs to?

It's funny because at first it sounds alot like it's just a make-out song sort of track, but it's obvious that it's about prayer and praise. The crazy high feeling you get sometimes when you talk to God. It actually does feel a lot like falling in love. It's so powerful...
There is this burning feeling that tears through you, your heart just swells and you feel all loose, and then it's like nothing else in the world matters. Everything else just leaves you alone and you feel as if God is holding you to his heart.. It's amazing!!
That's definetly what this song is about.

Personally I think this is about a higher spirit of godly being but not the Jesus god. The white light thing could be about Wicca, plus angels could be too.
However I am open to other interpretations, I like to know how this is related to God:
"And you whisper you love me
And I begin to fade
Into our secret place"

She sounds like she wants to make out with god in this song.

Honestly, I'm pretty sure it is about god but it's written ambiguously on purpose so that it could sound like a love song.

"Are you guys joking? This song is obviously a love song... Why would her tongue be dancing for god? That's just perverted on the highest level. It's a love song. Best song on the cd by far."

I believe that a "dancing tongue" refers to singing/praising. When you sing (or even talk, for that matter) your tongue is moving inside your mouth, "behind" your lips. The phrasing chosen for the song ("my tongue dances behind my lips") obviously sounds better and more poetic than simply saying "I sing praises for you" or "My tongues moves inside my mouth as I form words of praise and utter them out loud for you". Also, the phrasing is reminiscent, in my opinion, of how a similar idea might be phrased in the Bible (see some of the poetic books, like Psalms or Song of Solomon, for instance).

If this song was just a love song/makeout song intended for another human being, how would the following part apply?

"The music makes me sway
The angels singing say we are alone with you
I am alone and they are too with you"

"The white light thing could be about Wicca, plus angels could be too. "

The references to light and angels are also Biblical references. Since Flyleaf is categorized as a Christian band, I see no reason to assume the singer is referring to any other religion.

"However I am open to other interpretations, I like to know how this is related to God:
"And you whisper you love me
And I begin to fade
Into our secret place" "

In the act of worship/praise, the singer feels as if God is whispering to her that He loves her. Whether she literally hears this aloud or means it in a more spiritual sense is open to interpretation; some people claim they can physically hear God speaking to them. When others say they "hear" God it refers more to a feeling or instinct. The singer then "fades" (feels as if she is relocated or transported) to their "secret place". It's as if everything else fades away, and she is alone with God--a very moving spiritual experience that many Christians can attest to.

Also, the Bible itself refers to similar experiences (see the references to being "caught up to the third heaven" in 2 Corinthians, and many references to being "in the Spirit", for example).

I have no problem with someone feeling that this relates to them personally on a different level. I think a lot of literature and poetry is somewhat subjective, but if we are strictly talking of what the band is referring to, I see no reason to assume they would be referring to another religion.

Hey this song totally proves the Bible verse were it says something about how the World is blind to what is really true... (i cant find the exact verse right now) But it's like how OneMoreDay thinks its a love song,we Christian see beyond the appearence to the meaning that most of us are agreeing with.. It's about her relatonship with God.

I think sonicemerald might be reffering to Matthew 13... I don't know..
but it says.. "
"Though seeing, they do not see;
though hearing, they do not hear or understand."

anyways.. Take it however you want I suppose, but I'm with the rest of them on saying it's a song to God.
