Lyrics for Cassie as interpreted by QBlue_12

Cassie Lyrics
The question asked in order
To save her life or take it
The answer no to avoid death
The answer yes would make it

Do you believe in God
Written on the bullet
Say yes to pull the trigger
Do you believe in God
Written on the bullet
And Cassie pulled the trigger

All heads are bowed in silence
To remember her last sentence
She answered him knowing what would happen
Her last words still hanging in the air
In the air

Do you believe in God
Written on the bullet
Say yes to pull the trigger
Do you believe in God
Written on the bullet
And Cassie pulled the trigger

How many will die
I will die
I, I will say yes

Do you believe in God
Written on the bullet
Say yes to pull the trigger
Do you believe in God
Written on the bullet
And Cassie pulled the trigger
Do you believe in God
Do you believe in God
Do you believe in God
And I will pull the trigger

I love this song, really it sends chills down my spine. It has a powerful message. Basicaly it's about someone who stands up for what he/she believes. When Lacey sings "and i will pull the triggger" means that she would also stand up for what she believes like "Cassie" did.

Okay, Rachel Scott's family came to my school for this bullying prevention thing and they explained that neither Rachel or Cassie were asked if they believed in God. In fact, there was one girl who was asked that and she was shot in the arm (or somewhere along those lines ) but she survived. Anywho, I really don't think this song is completely about just Cassie and her martyrdom, It's about everyone standing up for their beliefs, no matter where they may end up in the long run.

to all the people that think they know everything, and all the ones that have said that this song wasnt written about cassie being asked if she believed in God....have any of yall ever thought that maybe Lacey didn't know the whole story either? Maybe Lacey had only heard the story that Cassie had been asked adn she said yes and got killed because of it.Or maybe she just thought that saying cassie was asked sounded like a good song. To me the song means that more people should stand up for their faith. Only 4% of our generation is saved and when people stand up for what they believe in it saves people. I know i would pull the trigger.

Well about the whole Rachel and Cassie thing...I mean I don't really know much about the shooting, I mean even though it was said Cassie and Rachel didn't say it I mean that was a tramatic moment and witnesses don't forget things, but on the other hand people do also remember, I mean I don't know so don't get mad at me for this, it's just an idea

I KNEW Cassie and Racheal...both very deep christians, both died for their God, but it was Cassie who this song talks about, and in some versions she talks of both though... Please stop saying it wasn't Cassie and Racheal...Please.

On the other hand, if you've heard the acousitic version of this song... i swear that she sings "and my sister cassie pulled it..." I've tried to look up the lyrics online to no avail, but i still swear that is what she sings.....anyone agree??

It's ridiculous to blow on about what a great beleiver Cassie (or whoever) was as the whole thing relies on the assumption that if she'd answered 'yes' she would be killed and she siad yes anyway. Who said the guy wouldn't have spared her if she'd said yes and killed her if she said no?

Besides, like Tostitos said, that's not how the story happened anyway.

How typical of christians to, again, write a famous propaganda book based on misinterpretations of actual events.

I think that everybody just needs to leave her and all the stories about her alone!! She's dead, let her rest in peace. Are you really that disrespectful? Plus, you weren't even there. "How typicac of christians..." How dare you? You just insulted a whole group of people that ARE Christians. What gives you the right to critize other people who want to believe in something that would help them to have more faith in God? If the Cassie story brought more people to Him do you think He cares? NO!! He's just happy to have his children back with Him so He can take care of them. Honestly, some people like you just make me sick.

It's about Cassie Bernall of the Columbine High School shootings. The gunman pointed his rifle in Cassie's face and asked her if she believed in God. She said yes, and was shot and killed. The same happened to a girl named Rachel Joy Scott. When the gunman pointed the gun in her face, and asked her if she believed in God, she said yes and he shot her, but she didnt die. So he asked her again, and she said yes again, was shot again and killed.

this song is about cassie bernall of columbine. while ive read a lot of your comments i want to let you know more about the story. if you read the book you will know more. cassie had gone through a very rough journey of finding herself and along the way she found god. she was in the library that day and when the gun man came in. after some time he got to cassie and asked her if she believed in god and she said yes.
i wasnt sure at first if the song was about her but after listening to it over and over im sure it is. one thing that threw me off is when they sing the lyric "and cassie pulled the trigger". ive come to realize that its a symbolic reference.
i love the song and i commend flyleaf for singing it. the story deserves to be told and i think they did an AMAZING job of it!!

Flyleaf is a Christian band. many people do not realize this. I agree with Quickstep. Lacey is saying that we should all share our beliefs. and not be afraid to tell the world that we do belive in God.
i bought this CD and was amazed to find out the story behind this song. i had never once heard a song that shared the same name as me. q:

♥Cassie...

I wonder about this song. I understand the meaning, but it kinda scares me. I think it's wonderful that people stand up for their faith, but it's such a tragedy to be glorified. Like telling people to commit suicide. I mean, I won't say that people should answer no. But I think that this song makes it sound like everyone SHOULD say yes. But not everyone wants to die. If someone answers 'No' even if they do then yes, I guess that's wrong, but maybe they didn't want to die? Then maybe they didn't believe in God because they didn't believe in Heaven. But maybe they did believe in God but still wanted to live. Is that wrong? I mean, when you stop and think about it, is it wrong? Yeah, it sounds crummy, but you know, You can't KNOW what YOU would do in that situation. Not until you've been there can you say with certainty what you'd say. So we may say that claiming not to believe in God is horrible, but if we were in the same situation maybe we would say no too?

I don't know about this song. I think it's pretty but it frightens me. The singers may be speaking just about their own opinions (and there's nothing wrong with that)
but it seems almost like they're talking down about people who would say 'No.'

I know I'm reading far into this, but I've always been cautious about religion. I've watched it corrupt my Mother and fill her with hate. I know not all Christians are like that, but I've always been cautious about beliefs because I don't want to get drawn into something that looks pretty from the outside but is nothing more than a mess of hate and lies on the inside.

Good song anyways, maybe more so for Christians, Maybe not.

(Oh, and even if this is just a blown-out-of-proportion piece of Christian BS, there are a lot of people who will believe that this is true and so that will cause trouble.)

This song is amayzing, I personally believe in all of this and I know its true. HeartlessHateful did bring up a really good point, but even so I think if you truely believe in something you would take the bullet. Yes some are afraid of death and they might not want to die. But if you actually believe in God you would know that God will protect you, so yeah maybe you will die, but does it matter? I mean really as soon as you say yes and the bullet blasts through your head you will be up above in Gods arms and you wont even think of the life you left behind. I know it sounds like Im depressed or what not, but its true. I can honest to God say if a shooter came barging into my classroom at this moment and for some reason asked me if I believed in God, Id say yes.

And I have much respect for anyone who would do the same.

Quickstep is exactly right. My friend had me listen to this song and i went home looked up these lyrics and started reading about it.

Its about the columbine massacre where 12 people were killed and 26 injured and cassie was asked if she belived in god and when she answered yes eric harris then shot her in the head. along with many other people. he killed all the poepl wearing white hats which was what the "jocks" wore. also he killed one person because he had colored skin. Lacey mosley is just saying that we should stand up for wat we belive in even at teh price of death

This song means so much more than what a lot of people think. This song is about Jesus Freaks. The REAL question is: Would you die for what you believe in? My answer: yes.

My school had the Rachel's Challenge assembly today, and we were fortunate to have her brother. He specifically stated an eyewitness watch one of the shooters shoot Rachel about 3 or 4 times, and proceeded to walk up to her, grab her by the hair and say "Do you believe in God?" and she replied "You know I do." and he shot her a final time. It was also reported other victims, Cassie, and one other, were also asked this question.

I'm sure Rachel Scott's brother knows his facts, because he was in the library too. He told us about watching his 2 best friend Issaih and Matt be shot by Eric and Dylan. The worst part is that last thing Issaih ever heard on this earth were racial slurs (he's african american). and the last thing he ever said was "I just want to see me mother."
