Lyrics for Cassie as interpreted by QBlue_12

Cassie Lyrics
The question asked in order
To save her life or take it
The answer no to avoid death
The answer yes would make it

Do you believe in God
Written on the bullet
Say yes to pull the trigger
Do you believe in God
Written on the bullet
And Cassie pulled the trigger

All heads are bowed in silence
To remember her last sentence
She answered him knowing what would happen
Her last words still hanging in the air
In the air

Do you believe in God
Written on the bullet
Say yes to pull the trigger
Do you believe in God
Written on the bullet
And Cassie pulled the trigger

How many will die
I will die
I, I will say yes

Do you believe in God
Written on the bullet
Say yes to pull the trigger
Do you believe in God
Written on the bullet
And Cassie pulled the trigger
Do you believe in God
Do you believe in God
Do you believe in God
And I will pull the trigger

well im sorta new to this but i wasintrigued by this song as so i found this place by searching for more information
well i found out some pretty crazy stuff i remember reading this book called "Jesus Freak" and it has a bunch of crazy stories of devoted christian who stood up for what they believed anyway i remembered reading one about Columbine and "a girl" who was shot after being asked this famous question
she was indeed the one who was asked and she did say yes
i also read something about the two guys who did the shooting
they weren't crazy or friendless they just had what doctor's call "excess agression" just like a little kid who kills small animals for fun its just for the thrill
not because they were bullied
soo lets not stereotype here
i really like this song and am writing a paper on it (hence my research) soo lets not dog it or the people who have been misinformed

If you put the book aside i think it's basically about a girl who would die for what she believes in her faith for it is that strong. And in this case it's God she believes in God with all her heart so she thinks that even if she does die she will be reunited in God. Or soemthing like that :S lol

it's important to think for yourself and not be led by what you hear from other people.

there's no need to blame someone for having a different opinion.

there's no need to hurt someone for having different beliefs.

lol, sorry but i just found it ironic how the song, the interpretations, the stories and the actual events all have those things in common.
am i making sense?

the two murderers were bullied but did have friends and it's still no excuse for taking another person's life. i mean seriously, probably everyone gets bullied at one stage in their life, in different ways. some people have more difficult experiences than others, but we all have stuggles in our life and we all have to survive and keep going and most people do, sometimes they choose the wrong way and sometimes they can't handle it, but that's because of their personality rather than their experiences, usually.

i don't know if the story of cassie is real or not, i'd like to think it is but from what i know about the murderers i don't think they were against christians and you rarely find people prejudiced against christians to such an extent, not as much as other faiths such as muslims, who get called terrorists etc. i realise this so being made fun of for believing in the bible doesn't really bother me and i don't think anyone should be ridiculed because of what they believe in, not just different religions but all ideologies in general. every human being, whether you like them or disagree with them or whatever, deserves to be treated with standard respect. and no matter how hard someone's life has been, purposely taking an innocent person's life... i just can't understand it, everyone should have the choice to live their life the way they want to, because it's their life.

we don't need to believe that cassie died before she believed in god to understand how tragic the columbine massacre was and that no matter what happens in your life, you should always try and stand up for what you believe in.

but to believe strongly in something you must be able to question it at some point to confirm [or change] your beliefs and you must be able to see different perspectives before you understand reality.

it is a difficult thing but important in almost every situation.
so many people go through life existing and not really living, we don't know when our lives will end, all we can do is make the most of it. and living life to the fullest should me making our own judgement, loving and caring about people, not ignoring negative experiences/emotions but getting through them in a positive way and moving on and learning from your mistakes.

we should not assume whatever we have read about this is true, but we should consider different explanations and try to put them together.
and yes, the basic message in the song is still extremely powerful; in times that seem impossible will we continue to live by our beliefs and standards?

it's an awesome song.
it's an important message to, because we all make mistakes and there will always be times in our lives that we will feel unable to stick by our own judgement; and sometimes our own judgement is wrong as well. it inspires us to be strong in times when we consider giving up.

the real issue america should be worried about is gun laws!
but anyway, that's a different subject.

and yeah.

Personally, I believe that Cassie was asked the question. Someone here said that it was all a lie by the Christians to give them fame and a meaning, but have you ever considered that maybe she WAS asked, and the whole idea that she wasn't asked is just a cover-up from certain people that want to make it seem like Cassie died for no reason??
No matter what, even if she was or wasn't asked, it is really irritating how people on here are being disrespectful of her memory. Why can't you just say, "I don't believe she was asked" and leave it at that? I read someone's comment, and they said that Cassie died for no reason and she was in the wrong place at the wrong time, and excuse me for saying so, but I think you took it away too far.

This song is indeed about Columbine. And Cassie was asked if she believed in God, m(L)u(O)s(V)i(E)c is right.

This song is all about standing up for what you believe in no matter what even if it means having a bullet in your head.
"And Cassie pulled the trigger"
She didn't literally but because she stood up for her beliefs she was killed, so in a sense you could say she pulled the trigger.

"All heads are bowed in silence
To remember her last sentence
She answered him knowing what would happen
Her last words still hanging in the air
In the air"

And then this part shows that everyone that was around her listened to see if she would answer honestly knowing what would happen to her and when she did her words hung in the air even after the gun was fired.

Okay, just want to clear something up:
I keep hearing people say that Cassie couldn't have been shot for being a Christian, because this other girl was asked (and answered yes) and the shooters just laughed and walked away.
Solution: Cassie was a "true" Christian, while the other girl was not. You see, from what I understand, Cassie answered the question w/o hesitation, meaning she was devout in her beliefs. The other girl, Valeen?, hesitated with her answer. My guess is the shooter took this as a sign of

(sorry about that...)

... as a sign of weakness. He asked her why she believed (to see if she really did), and when she said "because my family does", the shooter realized she didn't even really have true Faith in her beliefs.
Therefore, it is unreasonable to compare Cassie's situation to Valeen's.
I believe Cassie died a noble death for her beliefs.

"in the last line she says she'll pull the trigger. so she'll say she does believe in God even if it means death. woah "

yeah, most christians (atleast where i live) believe in the same thing.... but i am a little different, i give them this monologe before they would blast my brains out - "if you really wanna kill me, go on ahead, but i am telling you this, you think that i am happy now, and as you are envious of that, you wanna kill me. there is one thing you obviously don't know about my faith, if you kill me, i die, which is what you wanted, but then i go to heaven, where i will be happier there than ever here forever, and you can't control that. go ahead and shoot me, but it will only make me and other christians happier." usually by that time they think that killing you isn't worth it.

but then again, they might just ignore it and shoot you anyways, OH WELL!!!!

oh, and the song is NOT about suicide, it is about how a girl told the truth to a question that most people would have lied about, just to live. it is kinda suicide, but it is basically the only "acceptable" (if there ever was one) way of suicide...

i saw a video on youtube, and lacey explained the song. apparently rachel was shot after she said yes, but she didn't die, so he asked her "do you still believe in god", and she said yes, so he shot her again, and she died. the same for cassie except she died after the first shot. i personally think it is true. i don't think its "playing the victum", when you are shot by some guy. no matter what the circumstances are. but that is just my opinion. it's a great song.

I think its actually "woudn't they like it" instead of would make it.
Oh, and the meaning doesnt make sense to me. First off, the girl who was asked "do you believe in God" was Racheal Scott or something. She answered "You know I do". Meanwhile, the other kille rbanged his fist on the table she was hiding under and said "Peek-a-boo" thats when Cassie said "Yes?" as in "whose there" its all confusing.

one of those times it sounds like she says..."and rachel pulled the trigger." maybe it is just the version i have, but either way...i like how they would include rachel. i am not a strong believer in god, but i know and feel that everyone has a righ tto their beliefs and should stick to them because it's basically all anyone really has. the whole columbine event is a complete tragedy and is hard to think about.

i have liked this song for a long time but not until i came to this site did i realize that it was actually about Columbine..i mean i had never actually thought about that even though i knew the story about Cassie. it honestly gave me chillbumps when i understood it...because i have always wondered what the song was about but it was just like everything clicked!

Another thing, i agree that the point of the song is to stand up for what you believe... but more importantly standing up for God. Im a Christian and knowing Flyleaf's belief in God I believe the main inspiration for this song is God, himself!

Overall this is an amazing song and Flyleaf is an awesome band...it doesnt matter who the actual girls is, as long as the meaning of the lyrics are understood.

i love the last line of this song...where she says she would die for her beliefs.

i have no idea what i believe in, but to see someone so strong in what they believe in is awe inspiring.

regardless of what cassie said (or what she didn't say, in this case), it's an amazing song with an amazing meaning.

I LOVE this song. I have to say it's my favorite Flyleaf song after "I'm So Sick." First of all, let me say that I am probably one of the furthest people from being a Christian. But I respect the HELL out of these guys for their lyrics, especially on this song. For them to say that they would die for what they believe in, it's absolutely amazing. I would rank them as one of the top Christian bands. Ever.

Odd, at the Snocore tour, i wanna say 2006, Lacey actually prefaced this song as being about a girl in texas who was asked if she believed in god, when she said yes the person shot her. I believe the obvious assumption is if she said no he wouldnt have killed her. Regardless, just thought i'd put that in.

I read a really good book called Nineteen Minutes by Jodi Picoult. It deals with a school shooting, except it's more of the story about the guy (Peter) who decided to bring a gun to school one day after being bullied more than one person can take, his family, and his child-hood best friend who dated one of the bullies who he shot. It's an AMAZING book from an amazing author.

And She Said Yes was written by Cassie's mother I"m pretty sure, so I'm not sure how ENTIRELY accurate it could be. Mother's don't know everything.
