Lyrics for Cassie as interpreted by QBlue_12

Cassie Lyrics
The question asked in order
To save her life or take it
The answer no to avoid death
The answer yes would make it

Do you believe in God
Written on the bullet
Say yes to pull the trigger
Do you believe in God
Written on the bullet
And Cassie pulled the trigger

All heads are bowed in silence
To remember her last sentence
She answered him knowing what would happen
Her last words still hanging in the air
In the air

Do you believe in God
Written on the bullet
Say yes to pull the trigger
Do you believe in God
Written on the bullet
And Cassie pulled the trigger

How many will die
I will die
I, I will say yes

Do you believe in God
Written on the bullet
Say yes to pull the trigger
Do you believe in God
Written on the bullet
And Cassie pulled the trigger
Do you believe in God
Do you believe in God
Do you believe in God
And I will pull the trigger

m(L)u(O)s(V)i(E)c i deffently feel your pain, yes it was very real, for people that think it was a lie need to figure out the facts. I didn't know anyone from it, but I knew people who died for all the wrong reasons. This is a great song with a full meaning. I love it, favorite song.

the song is based on a myth...as tostiitos said...there was an eye witness that confirmed that cassie wasnt asked about god, and scott was the first person shot outside the school...the whole urban legend was blown out of proportion by christians looking to spread their message...thats why her mother published the book, she wanted to think her daughter was a martyr, but didnt look at the facts...kinda pathetic, that the one who was asked about god was actually spared, and all the christans crying like the columbine shootings was done by evil satanists or some bullshit...

dont delude yourself, cassie didnt say a damn thing...she died cuz she was in the wrong place at the wrong time...

This is the first song I heard by Flyleaf, it drew me because my name is Cassie.. Lol. And when I heard it, I loved it. I never heard about the story, but the initial meaning is pretty cool. To fight for what you believe in, even if I'm not a Christian..

Okay, if any of you still believe Cassie was asked about God then, honestly, you know nothing about the Columbine massacre.
And if you don’t believe me when I say Cassie was never asked about God, why don’t you believe the official timeline released by the investigation team that worked on the Columbine shooting:

"Harris walked over to table 19 where he bent down and saw two frightened girls. He slapped the table top twice, said, “Peek-a-boo,” and fired, killing Cassie Bernall. After shooting Cassie, Harris made a comment about hitting himself in the face. Investigators believe Harris broke his nose as a result of the “kick” from the shotgun when he bent to fire under the table. "
http://edition.cnn.com/SPECIALS/2000/columbine.cd/Pages/LIBRARY_TEXT.htm

And I compiled a list of evidence from witness interviews a long time ago and it is here:
http://geocities.com/crazyhockeyfan123/

Now, even though Cassie was never asked about God, it doesn't take away the meaning of the song. The song message is still there, it’s still about someone dieing for their belief in a God. But Cassie wasn’t that person.

It's based off the columbine. Neither Cassie nor Racheal were asked if they believed in God. Another girl was asked (right after Cassie was killed), said yes, Eric asked for a reason, she gave him one and he laughed and spared her. The girl under the desk with Cassie said Eric tapped on the desk, sad peek-a-boo, and shot Cassie. She didn't even have time to converse.

BUT
The meaning behind the song is powerful. Keep your faith and stand up for your beliefs and who you are!

yeah this is one of my favorite flyleaf songs. This is the one i truly fell in love with at first, not for just the lyrics but the vocals and music too. it still stands as one of my favorite songs.
and yes, a lot of people argue over what this song means and what all of flyleaf's songs mean. it's impoprtant to remember that it is going to mean something different to people in different ways. for example, some say "all around me' is a song about God, but i think is is a love song. that's how i see. oh, and i have heard the version that uses both Cassie and Rachel in the lyrics. and i think this song is about the Columbine shootings. after i realized what it was about, i loved it even more.

Loserface68 said: I don't think there would have been a published book out about this if it was just some made up story.

Yeah, um, ever heard of a book called A Million Little Pieces? I'm not saying I don't believe if Cassie was asked if she did believe in God. I actually have no personal opinion about it, I'm just saying, don't always bwelieve what you read.

Cassie Bernall never said yes, because she was never asked a question. The general belief is that before Dylan shot her, he asked her if she believed in "God", and she said yes. In reality, if you talk to people who were there, you'll realize it's all just media propaganda. We NEEDED some kind of a martyr when that happened to make the general public feel better, and Cassie got hyped up by her mom and the media. That's all.

I've never heard Tostitos version of the story before. Only the others, & I watched a video with a parent of one of the girls that was killed, and he said (of course he got the info from the students) that she DID say yes to his question.

I read that Cassie was a born again christian. And there were two shooters at the school, not one. And anyone that said they beleived in God he shot. And in a-way it was as if they pulled their own trigger. Because they knew they were going to die if they said yes. Only 2 died because of saying yes, i recall. Which was Cassie and Rachael. And the rest died just because they got shot. Also I read after the shooting the school held a cerimony (dunno if i splet that right) and worshiped (dunno if thats spelt right either) God. Which is amazing. Also I watched a video on it where Lacey says this before singning the song live.

It's about Cassie Bernall of the Columbine High School shootings. The gunman pointed his rifle in Cassie's face and asked her if she believed in God. She said yes, and was shot and killed. The same happened to a girl named Rachel Joy Scott. When the gunman pointed the gun in her face, and asked her if she believed in God, she said yes and he shot her, but she didnt die. So he asked her again, and she said yes again, was shot again and killed.

Rachel's name isn't mentioned in the LP version of the song, but it is on the EP version, and Lacey sings it live

I love this song so much.
I have a good explanation for it.
In my English class, we've learned a little bit about the tragedy at Columbine.. This has kind of got me into an investigation of some sort. I want to know more about it..
It says things like,
"Do you believe in God?" And
"Say yes to pull the trigger" And all sorts of other creepy stuff...
Today, my teacher read us a section from a book called She Said Yes..
Her name was Cassie. Ironic, no? I have a feeling that the song Cassie was based on that book, because in that book, one student said he remembered the killers asking Cassie if she believed in God, and when she said yes, they killed her.
"And Cassie pulled the trigger..."
.So while my teacher was reading us all this stuff, I had the song Cassie playing in my head...

From what I've read, the girl that actually said yes was Rachel Scott. It says so in the book about her/ her journal : Rachel's Tears... by her parents Beth Nimmo and Darrel Scott. This book is about her spiritual journey. It is a very good book! If you are a Christian you will love this book. If you're not, it could help you understand what it means to be one. :)

Wow. According to you there are many theories about something no one can be so sure about. You can never trust the testimonies of those who have gone through something so traumatic. I have read of versions where Rachel was grabbed by the top of her head and asked the dreadful question. When she answered him, "you know I do," she was killed. Then there's the one where the boy she was having lunch with at the time of the shooting said she was shot first, injuring her, then he was shot, injuring him, and finally Rachel was shot a second time, therefore dying outside; no conversation held.

In the library, according to the girl right beside her, Cassie was shot and killed immediately after Harris whispered, "peak-a-boo." Again, nothing said there. I do not believe I have heard of a version where Cassie was asked if she believed or not. It was either Rachel or no one at all.

There are many documentaries supporting what I have just stated, so don't tell me I'm making this up or going along with others.

I believe someone mentioned on here that the whole martyr thing was concocted by the parents of these two girls. Notice how the books were written by said parents. They just wanted to make it seem like something good came out of this tragedy. Or make Cassie/Rachel appear better by saying they believed therefore causing their death. Hell, maybe it was just a way to cope with their losses. Who knows? In all seriousness, we'll never really know.

if y'all read the book "she said 'yes'"
it pretty much takes care of finding out the meaning of this song.

i used to think this song was about heart break.
which still makes sense to me now,
but columbine shootings are really what's it about.
but if y'all wanna hear my 'heartbreak' threoy, here it is;

"She answered him knowing what would happen"
she said, even though she knew this guy was a player, she knew that this guy was trouble,
but she still said yes,
she knew that this would end up bad.

"And Cassie pulled the trigger"
'suicidal romance' pretty much self-explanitory

y'all getting it?

I didn't even think about this song being about the Columbine shootings until I read the lyrics. It still makes me sick to think that people would actually take another person's life. Especially in this manner. I'm not sure what to believe, because there are many theories flying around. But what I want to believe is that, that girl did say yes when he asked her if she believed in God, and that she died because of that. I find it comforting in knowing that people have as strong of faith as I do. But I still find it disturbing that someone would kill another for that reason. Faith is important, no matter what you choose to believe in.
