Lyrics for So I Thought as interpreted by QBlue_12

So I Thought Lyrics
All your twisted thoughts free flow
To everlasting memories
Show soul
Kiss the stars with me
And dread the wait for
Stupid calls returning to us to life
We say to those who are in love
It can't be true 'cause we're too young
I know that's true because so long I was
So in love with you
So I thought

A year goes by
And I can't talk about it

On my knees
Dim lighted room
Thoughts free flow try to consume myself in this
I'm not faithless
Just paranoid of getting lost or that I might lose
Ignorance is bliss cherish it
Pretty neighborhoods you learn to much to hold
Believe it not
And fight the tears
With pretty smiles and lies about the times

A year goes by
And I can't talk about it
The times weren't right
And I couldn't talk about it

Choris Romance says goodnight
Close your eyes and I'll close mine
Remember you, remember me
Hurt the first, the last between
Choris Romance says goodnight
Close your eyes and I'll close mine
Remember you, remember me
Hurt the first, the last, between

And I'm praying that we will see
Something there in between
Then and there that exceeds all we can dream
So we can talk about it

Choris Romance says goodnight
Close your eyes and I'll close mine
Remember you, remember me
Hurt the first, the last between
Choris Romance says goodnight
Close your eyes and I'll close mine
Remember you, remember me
Hurt the first, the last healing

And I'm praying that we will see
Something there in between
Then and there that exceeds all we can dream

And all these twisted thoughts I see
Jesus there in between
And all these twisted thoughts I see
Jesus there in between

gah. the song i have is nothing like these lyrics.

also, isnt it :
"A year goes by
And I can't talk about it
The times were right
And I couldn't talk about it"

instead of :
"A year goes by
And I can't talk about it
The times weren't right
And I couldn't talk about it"

eh. anyway, i love this song like you wouldnt believe but i can not see how these lyrics have anything to do with god =S

This song makes me miss the one I love. Plain and simple. Is it love, is it not? I don't know, but it's the kind of thing you don't wanna lose, and just keep forever...

"A year goes by, and I can't talk about it"
That's my favorite part, I love the whole song though, I just love the softness in that bit. I love it.

the song has to do with life... and Lacey mosley clearly states in www.flyleafonline.com that when she was younger her and her 6 brother and sisters moved from place to place, and she was in relationship problems and stuff and the lyric "Pretty neighborhoods you learn to much to hold" moving place to place, when they felt like they settled they just moved again and "And fight the tears
With pretty smiles and lies about the times" "fight the tears" " smiles and LIES about the times" just going through your everyday life problems, moving to much, relationship problems, and in her life, Lacey Mosley, she delt with drugs, suicide, depression and if you read on the website i typed, she says that when she was going through so much family fights, drugs, depression, suicide, she was sent to live ith her grandmother in mississippi, she had to leave everything behind, her family, boyfriend, drugs everything and when her grandmother was fed up with her attitude towards life, she was yelling at her screaming " you have to go to church! you have to!" and Lacey was already going to kill herself that next day, well just to make her grandmother be quiet she said "alright" so she went the next day to the christian church her grandmother attended and, the pastor started to talk about everyday life problems and depression and stuff that Lacey was going through, then the pastor started to cry saying he felt a suicidal presence in the church, well after the service was over, this guy, who she didnt know came up to her and started to say things that the pastor was saying and telling her " God wants to take away all your pain and hurt and even though you've never known an earthly
Father, that He would be the Greastest Father and and thats why He died for you, to take all your pain away" at this point she was already crying and in tears, she's never met this guy before in her life, she's never told anyone about this, and that day She let God take all her pain away and Saved her.... you can find this video where she explains all this on youtube.com it's tittled flyleaf TVU she explains a lot more on what happened.... so what she's trying to say is that through all her problems she saw something there in between whcih is why she says/sings " Jesus there in between" even though you go through some problems and made some mistakes, you can always know that you can pick your self up, learn from your mistake and come out even stronger for it because you've been through it and experianced it, or whatever your going through... Lacey also explains the song meaning in a video on flyleafonline.com it's under the "six flags" show... very spiritual also, if you see it from this point of view i'm making, seeing as how she found something to live for, and being a christian... ( or what your belief is) but since there a christian band, this is our perspective, and clearly hers also seeing as she said all this, lol hope youguys go and check out the stuff, its very moving and awesome!!

Thats what the song 'much like falling' is about. I think this more has to do with her relationship problems, probably letting go off all the crap for Jesus. And I can see clearly romance is a powerful theme in this, as well as life. I can see this more as her letting go of her boyfriend to be with God. And probably other things too.

Thanks Haydee01. You can't really look at this song superficially. The song is not simply about a boy/girl relationship (Lacey said it herself). The relationship appears to be with addiction. I don't really think she means "young" to be cronological age as much as it is maturity. Her immaturity led her to Love (be addicted to) things that didn't reciprocate anything except hurt. I don't want to make the song into more than it really is, but I just don't see it being simply about a boy she liked. There was too much hurt and affliction that tainted her past to write love songs.

ok so pretty much everyone thinks this is about god, maybe you're right but hey, it can be seen in a different way. like someone broke up with her last year and she loved him so much and he treated her like shit after the break up and she just couldnt talk bout what happend with them and she thinks her faith will eventually get things to get better if u kno what im sayin

Here is the alternate version...I love both versions, but I love the cd version more because of the duet typeness of it

All your twisted thoughts free flow

Stupid calls returning to us to life
We say to those who are in love
It can't be true 'cause we're too young

And I can't talk about it
And times were right
But I couldn't talk about it

On my knees

I'm not faithless
Just paranoid of getting lost or that I might lose
Ignorance is bliss cherish it
Pretty neighborhoods you learn to much to hold
Believe it not
And fight the tears
With pretty smiles and lies about the times

A year goes by
And I can't talk about it
The times were right
But I couldn't talk about it

And just maybe we might see
Something there in between
Then and there that exceeds all we can dream

And all these twisted thoughts I see
Something there in between
And all these twisted thoughts I see
Something there in between
And all these twisted thoughts I see
Something there

And just maybe we might see

In case anyone was wondering ... It is 'Choris Romance' . They are a band and have since changed their name to Cowboy. She must be referring to one of their songs.

Lacey Mosely got a divorce when she was 18. Thats what this song is about.

So I Thought is obviously a song about a rly painful breakup. I can sort of relate to this at the moment. This girls obsessed with the boy she's going out with, and feels that she's 'so in love' with him, and that everything is magical and anything is possible. But then they break up, and that breaking up is her reality check that everything's not OK, and she feels kind of bitter and she 'can't talk about' the years they've spent together, as the memories of breaking up with him are still so raw and painful. 'I was so in love with you, so I thought.' And maybe (just like my last relationship) they don't talk anymore and she's praying that they will see 'something inbetween', and be friends again. And she comes maybe to depend on her faith more, as it will always be there; 'And all these twisted thoughts I see/Jesus there in between'.

Reading different comments, i realized a common truth. This song has ment different thing to many people. When Lacey Mosely wrote this song, she had a thought in mind. She conveyed her own meaning in her own way. we can interpurt it in many different way, but that's not the point. Even if she ment it one way, we can view it another and still be inpacted and let it relate to us in our own individual way. That's what music is all about. You take what someone has created and you use it to impact your life and others. Whatever meaning Lacey was trying to convey, it must have gotten across to someone out there and i probbibly ment the world to them. Keep an open mind about different opinion and meanings of songs because every song has a meaning!

this song is definitely about God. the line that's really amazing is, well I love the whole song, so saying that i only love one specific line would be a lie. when i first heard this song, my initial reaction was "wow". i think the 2nd verse is about her praying
"on my knees
dim lighted room
thoughts free flow try to consume myself in this
i'm not faithless
just paranoid
of getting lost or that i might lose
ignorance is bliss cherish it
pretty neighborhoods you learn too much to hold
believe it not
and fight the tears with pretty smiles and lies about the times"
that whole verse is about her praying in her room or some place in her house.
the way she sings is just amazing!

i think its about being young and in love but also about realizing later that a relationship with God has to root it in... recently i went thru a breakup [we were together 2 years] and I'm a Christian & he wasnt... yes, i loved him, and yes i always will, but i know now that with the "yolk being uneven" so to speak [as it says in the Bible] it wouldnt have worked... yes it still hurts, and i should have been more of a witness to him... especially knowing i loved him... he believes, but has the "i live my life and change for no one" attitude... i just hope he turns to God before its too late... all i can do is pray but I love Flyleaf!!

i read all these comments and i dont think most any of them are right ,on youtube the lead sinnger describes why she wrote this song its about making promisses to people and God and breaking them and feeling soooooo guilty and it's about how you don't have to feel horibal about it any more cause of Gods Forgiveness, and love.

Yeah I'm pretty sure by "too young" she means in terms of maturity and NOT age. It's not one of those "kids know nothing about love" songs because that cliche is a lie. i thought it was about the alleged divorce she had a long time back, but It actually comes from the problems she had in her early life.

Hey, my first post here :-) This song is truly beautiful!
I did understand it a little bit different than most of you.

To me, it's all about an unreturned love to a good old friend. Maybe 'he' (the friend) likes 'her' (her = Lacey) very very much but just as a friend, and it's not enough for a relationship. Furthermore, she regrets that she never had the courage to tell him how much she loves him.

The first verse represents the beginning. She explains what she dreams of but he doesn't act accordingly:

"Show soul"

show feelings

"Kiss the stars with me"

she loves him very much, dreams about him, really whishes to be together with him

"And dread the wait for
Stupid calls returning to us to life"

maybe 'he' likes her but not enough for a relationship and says something like 'not by now' or 'it's to early' (as an excuse of course - 'he' doesn't want to hurt her because she is a good friend and he likes her)

"A year goes by
And I can't talk about it"

time passes by but she just can't tell him

"On my knees
Dim lighted room"
"I'm not faithless"

here I agree - proves that she truly believes in god.

"Just paranoid of getting lost or that I might lose"

wow - amazing line! she is afraid of departing from him and that she loses him completely.

"Ignorance is bliss cherish it"

you can try to ignore things if you can't deal with facing them. you should be glad there is ignorance. (seems to refer to her desperation. because it's not really a comfort but more kind of a defiance)

"And fight the tears
With pretty smiles and lies about the times"

yes, another great line! :-) .. she doesn't show her emotions, hides them, keeps everything secret. and most important - suffers from it even more.

"A year goes by
And I can't talk about it
The times weren't right
And I couldn't talk about it"

again time just passes by and she cannot do something against. she believes it could have turned out different if everything only would have happened at another time, another place.

"Choris Romance says goodnight"

Choris Romance is a band from Dallas. She lives in Temple which is near to dallas. I believe that this is a symbol for something which connects 'her' to 'him'. Maybe they always heard their music when spending time together. Or even better - maybe the got to know each other on a concert evening of this band. 'good night' indicates that something is coming to an end.

"Close your eyes and I'll close mine
Remember you, remember me"

maybe 'he' moves away (for ever?). that could be a reason why she regrets ->now

maybe 'he' moves away (for ever?). that could be a reason why she regrets now never telling him about her love. it would also be a further reason for the fear to lose him completely. and it could explain this:

"Pretty neighborhoods you learn to much to hold
Believe it not"

Temple (where they live) is not a big city. maybe it's usual there that people who want to be successful, get a career, want to study etc., move away when coming to this age. 'he' has other plans and will not stay there.

"Hurt the first, the last between"

= hurt the first time, the last time and between = it always hurt.. it = her love to him

"And I'm praying that we will see
Something there in between
Then and there that exceeds all we can dream
So we can talk about it"

she counts on god, hopes that 'he' (her friend, not god ;-) will come back some day and they can be together. also hope that all the suffering was not for nothing but will pay off.

"And all these twisted thoughts I see
Jesus there in between
And all these twisted thoughts I see
Jesus there in between"

it hurts very much but nevertheless, there is always hope. she finds hope in believing.

Another possible view could be exactly the opposite: they have been a couple for a long time but now she wants to break up. A lot of things would fit:

"It can't be true 'cause we're too young
I know that's true because so long I was
So in love with you"

she has loved him for a long time but the feelings are gone. that's why she says it's right that it can't be true love when you are very young.

"So I thought

A year goes by
And I can't talk about it"

she is afraid of telling him so she puts the talk to him off (over a long time)

"Just paranoid of getting lost or that I might lose"

if she tells him she could lose him completely which she doesn't want

"Ignorance is bliss cherish it"

again - she doesn't face the problems so she doesn't have to deal with it

"With pretty smiles and lies about the times"

lies - she doesn't want him to know, so she acts as if everything would be normal - so she lies to him.

"Choris Romance says goodnight"

again a symbol for them as a couple. the relationship is coming to an end.

refrain is something like the part where she breaks up.

"And I'm praying that we will see
Something there in between
Then and there that exceeds all we can dream
So we can talk about it"

she has broken up and he is completely disappointed. and espacially angry about her because she did fool him over years. that's why he doesn't talk to her anymore and wants to completely forget her. now she hopes there will be happening something beautiful which let's them forget all the pain, disappointment etc. so that they can talk about it.

...

just to give some examples.
but don't agonize too much about the "real" sense. you can see how many different views are possible and moreover, this song contains many lines which even amazing on their own too - and that's what tags great lyrics. so relax and enjoy this beauty! :-)

I dont know. . . i guess you guys are right,
but for my own life and stuff, this song reminded me of my sexual abuse . .
the whole twisted thoughts thing,
and as far as ignorance is bliss-- thats kind of obvious
and we cant talk about it. . because its hidden, and people dont understand,
and then Jesus is there, in between-- cause He's the only one who's stuck through with me, and loved me through it all =]

this song rocks!

I'm pretty sure this song is about Lacey's (lead singer) short marriage to a man. They got married very young and soon got a divorce. So, I'm pretty sure that you are all right about how it is abouta breakup, but this is the breakup in specific.

And I remember hearing once that Choris Romance is a band. Not sure if thats true, but maybe>
