Lyrics for So I Thought as interpreted by QBlue_12

So I Thought Lyrics
All your twisted thoughts free flow
To everlasting memories
Show soul
Kiss the stars with me
And dread the wait for
Stupid calls returning to us to life
We say to those who are in love
It can't be true 'cause we're too young
I know that's true because so long I was
So in love with you
So I thought

A year goes by
And I can't talk about it

On my knees
Dim lighted room
Thoughts free flow try to consume myself in this
I'm not faithless
Just paranoid of getting lost or that I might lose
Ignorance is bliss cherish it
Pretty neighborhoods you learn to much to hold
Believe it not
And fight the tears
With pretty smiles and lies about the times

A year goes by
And I can't talk about it
The times weren't right
And I couldn't talk about it

Choris Romance says goodnight
Close your eyes and I'll close mine
Remember you, remember me
Hurt the first, the last between
Choris Romance says goodnight
Close your eyes and I'll close mine
Remember you, remember me
Hurt the first, the last, between

And I'm praying that we will see
Something there in between
Then and there that exceeds all we can dream
So we can talk about it

Choris Romance says goodnight
Close your eyes and I'll close mine
Remember you, remember me
Hurt the first, the last between
Choris Romance says goodnight
Close your eyes and I'll close mine
Remember you, remember me
Hurt the first, the last healing

And I'm praying that we will see
Something there in between
Then and there that exceeds all we can dream

And all these twisted thoughts I see
Jesus there in between
And all these twisted thoughts I see
Jesus there in between

Its about waiting for 'the one'.

"It can't be true 'cause we're too young...I know that's true because so long I was so in love with you": shes saying that she was waiting for him and loving him long before she knew exactly who he was

"I'm not faithless...Just paranoid of getting lost or that I might lose": what an amazing line...I know I feel that way a lot...I try so hard to always have faith in God's plan for me...but sometimes its hard to be waiting for it...even though my faith is always there, its hard to not be afraid that things aren't going to happen as soon as I hope...its the doubt that creeps up when you don't want it to

"And I'm praying that we will see something there in between then and there that exceeds all we can dream": having faith in God puting you and 'the one' in the right place at the right time and having sparks fly between you...praying for the moment that you meet the one you've been waiting for...having it be even better than you could ever have imagined

"And all these twisted thoughts I see Jesus there in between": having faith in the Lord to create your relationship when the time is right and to forever be a part of it

I completely love this song and everything it says. It makes me all twitterpatted over the one Im waiting for. Whoever he is.

I am pretty sure it has nothing to do with meeting your "special someone" and everything to do with a tough break up. Anyone thats been through a tough one, would instantly get it. It explains all the feelings you go through. You go from thinking your in love with someone and going to spend your life with them, and then feeling like why were you even with them. Everytime you think about them, its painful, even after time.

"I'm not faithless
Just paranoid of getting lost or that I might lose
Ignorance is bliss cherish it
Pretty neighborhoods you learn to much to hold
Believe it not''

This is saying a couple of different things. First after a tough break up you lose hope in relationships. You feel like avoiding them altogether because you don't want to feel that kind of pain again. Not knowing the hurt of love and loss, may be worth not loving at all, and all you see when u see others in love is the good and not the bad, so its misleading to those who have never loved.

"And fight the tears
With pretty smiles and lies about the times"

This is saying when your around other or talking to others, you try to hide your pain by acting like things are so good, and making things sound better than they are with lies.

i agree with the both of you... you might be asking how can you agree with both when there compeletly different... music is an art and theres many ways to interpret lyrics... and one sentence can mean so much more then just one thing... the first time i heard this since i just got out of a relationchip.. i felt pain... and you know the break up...

We say to those who are in love
It can't be true 'cause we're too young
I know that's true because so long I was
So in love with you
So I thought

i interpret this as i thought i was once in love but i was to young to understand what love is... and it really wasn't... and when your a teenager or w/e when you say that your in love with someone your jsut saying it but when you get in a break up your like woah... i didn't love them... and when you think about it your saying you thought you were in love...

On my knees
Dim lighted room

and this i picture someone praying to god b/c of there pain and just on there knees b/c of the break up and yeah all that graet stuff...

and i see this as waiting for the one b/c you only hav to go thru one break up to understand that your not ready... or that love really does hurt... and its kinda getting out of a relationship and understanding gods faith and trusting in god and not her feelings...

but this is just whati get from it... i see it more on the break up but i also see where the one comes in also... and im sure theres more meaning that people havn't posted...

I'm pretty sure it's about being young and in love, or so she thought. If she were really in love, she would have been able to discuss her faith and at least she would have tried to be a link to his salvation. She is feeling guilty and sad years later, because she knows how important salvation and a relationship with God is and she couldn't talk about it. She feels like she has robbed him of his opportunity to know God and have salvation. I think she really has her doubts as to weather he would have accepted the invitation, or thought she was lame because of that type of conversation. She just knows how so very deeply important a relationship with God is and wishes she had given him the chance to know what it is, because that is the ultimate gift of love.

i don't know about you, but the first time i heard this song i thought it was about an extremely painful teenage relationship ("we're too young") and both kids are just trying to move on and stay friends, but she really wants to talk to him about it... this is just my opinion here, feel free to attack it...

I agree with many of you... personally I dont believe in God, but this song does have a lot of God related parts in it,,, ex praying, faith, etc... but it can also be taken as just relationship wise... when I first heard this song I cried... it reminded me so much of things that have happened to me

The everlasting memories,, "fight the tears with pretty smiles and lies about the times" wow I've done that so many times...

A year goes by
And I can't talk about it
The times weren't right
And I couldn't talk about it
....that, wow... I can relate to that so much

I think it's about believing you're young and in love
not listening to people when they say "you're too young" but then as time goes by realizing maybe she was too young because she thought she was in love and whatever it was dies out.

I think it's "Chorus romance." Chorus as in song structure.
Going on that I think they mean that it's like a relationship that was short, sweet, catchy, addictive, repeating, but overall pretty unimportant. That's my interpretation of the song. Also I think its good to point out that the song could be about being infatuated with a lifestyle. Falling in love with rock and roll glamour - destructive people places, grungy cheap ways of living, the whole "sex drugs rock and roll" thing... when you're young "too young" it seems appealing and cool, but it could lead to depression and disatisfaction. She, or the speaker of the song, manages to find Him between all of the dark craziness. .. This is what I take away from the song.

Many props goes to the member "cant take this" who posted a comment on 5-21-2006

I look at this song as a relationship. I've cried to this song a few times late at night when everything is on my mind.

"A year goes by
And I can't talk about it
The times weren't right
And I couldn't talk about it"

Wow, this is so true. About a year ago I broke up with a person whom I dated for almost 2 years. I broke my own heart ~ we had both changed over the our last year and things just werent the way they used to be. So I thought we needed to go our own ways.Since then I found a great person whom I love so much now and is my perfect match, but there are nights when I'm alone and think of one of the greatest love of my life, with whom I broke my own heart with.... I often think "what if I had done things differently." I know though that everything happens for a reason. That theres always going to be that one person we never get over.

"fight the tears with pretty smiles and lies about the times" Ive done this so many times. I often hide behind a smile and pretend everything is all right when in fact it isnt.

"We say to those who are in love
It can't be true 'cause we're too young
I know that's true because so long I was
So in love with you
So I thought"

Yet again this is so true to me.

This is one of my favorite Flyleaf songs, I dont listen to is too often because it hurts so much...

I agree with pretty much everything that has been said so far. I think the song's about a girl who went through a very painful breakup and even after a year can't forget about it (I know the feeling from experience), but even though she's struggling trying to find meaning and a purpose in all of it she looks to Jesus and her faith to see her through. Any way you look at it it's an absolutely unbelievable song. You don't find that kind of emotion and truth from most bands today.

"And I'm praying that we will see
Something there in between
Then and there that exceeds all we can dream"

This part i think it means that she's with someone and it's waiting for that good thing to get in between her relationship so that they could start a dream. a future that she thought that she might of had with someone but never got to that point. a pain crossed between her and him. this song it's too strong to understand what she means. so i say that she has the answer none of us those. we see it in different ways it depends on our feelings, how we take. it might kinda say that we had experience similar. who knows. i just know that i would like to here the meaning from the writer, wat does she really meant about the song " so i thought" ? that's the person i'm waiting to tell her side of the story. wat made her write this song? this pain that she might went through in the song does matches to some of us.

hm... after reading a few of your comments and thinking on this a bit (And listening to the song again), I'm starting to think that it's about someone who is waiting for / has just found their special someone, but also lost someone special and not being able to talk of it ("A year goes by and I can't talk about it, the times weren't right, and I couldn't talk about it")
I also get a weird feeling that this song has something to do with dying... then again, my mind is weird. Lovely song either way.

This song describes where I am at perfectly. Like with God, with this guy, life. I wish I wrote it, heres why:
Last year I really liked this guy, for about a year. We were really good friends, and I was praying he was "the one". We went on a few dates and that and hung out a lot as friends. We had a lot of good memories together with our picnics, and laying under the stars, etc. He liked me on and off, but we agreed to keep things casual because we were young, but I was sure I was in love. I was just as sure he was "the one".
We are both Christains, so we had God in our relationship. Although along with all of these great memories, alot of bad things happened. One of my friends died and of course, the day that came when I realized I really was too young to love.
During that summer, the both of us went to this church service, and there was a prophet, and this kind of reminds me of the line "dread the wait for stupid calls returning us to life" because what the prophet said really brought the both of us back down to earth and right with God.
Then the fall came, and the day I realized you can't love so young. It turned out that this guy I thought I was so in love with, ended up getting in a serious relationship with another girl, something I was kind of parinoid about. All when I thought he was "waiting" for a serious relationship with me. Now we dont really talk, and I wish we did, it kind of reminds me of the line "Im praying we will see something there inbetween...." because we don't really talk anymore. He's still with this girl, but we dont talk at all. I wish we could and did.
Not to prolong my "life story" lol but it goes so perfectly with the song it amazes me. If you guys want to know what the songs about, the story I just told about me is pretty much what the song is about. With only 2 lines I need to add. the line "pretty neighborhoods, you learn to much to hold" I think means that a lot of people learn too much to hold on with there childhood and memories and that Jesus can bring you peace though all of that. "In all these twisted thoughts I see, Jesus there inbetween"
