she feels stranded is supposed to be that she feels stuck being unhappy/disappointed in the world her whole life (shows her dad leaving the mom). the key to the door means she has what it takes for her to be happy, but she just doesnt know how to open the door (make herself happy). part of me says to let it go means that she wants to "let go" or accept all the pain that has happened to her in her life, but instead she chooses wrong paths to numb the pain for awhile, but not get rid of it.(which is y the repitition is there, to symbolize all the things she does to numb that pain).she cant see through the phase around her means she cant see wat to do to get rid of the pain cuz she thinks about the pain too much. the just hold me part is her looking for someone taht can make her feel better.basically just a fantasy of the perfect guy to come n save her from her horrible life. wen it says i want to hold you in my arms to all the things i ought to leave behind its saying that she wants to hold on to the things that hurt her so bad, but that she should leave them behind. wen it says i should get help, she finally gets help n at the end of the video she has accepted her past as it is, and is happy now.
now..i've seen video with people sing in empty pools, with elephants, clowns, or freaking flying rats, and make no sence to wat that song was about, they only did it cuz they wanted to..and of course this song was wrote b4 the viedo and the director found this is the best way to get close to the songs meaning..The video is just a story
I believe the song is about a girl who's very depressed and is calling out to a friend for help..the friend is singing about it.(see how hard it is to make a music off of that)

(aparently she can get over whats actually keeping her spirit down..she keeps thinking bout it, and she wants to let go of it and write it off as just another curve ball that life throws at you..yet she keeps going in acycle of depression, but this time around she really wants to get better and will do anything)

(she asking her friend to confort her, because shes losing herself[when your depress nothing seem to matter anymore] and se can tell thats happening, and shes afraid of being completly lost..Her friend is the only one that understands her and doesnt pretend that shes ok,like everyone else does)
And Again thru out the song she askes her friend to help her out of the depressed world shes in b4 its too late and, bascily she will do/try anything to feel better again and find her way..
To me, the songs about it all. Its just about a girl who gets confused in life and all she wasnt to do is feel better about life, no matter what it takes.
What is confusing in the girls life is up to everyone indiviually to think of. Everyon does get confused and just wants to feel better at one stage in their life.
This is why its such a great song. it doesnt just restrick it by talking about certain things, it talks about problems in general.
I've always imagined it like Steven Tyler is telling a story about a girl he used to know. She been heartbroken again and again, and she feels like she's at the point where she doesn't have the strength to keep living anymore. Like someone that's been beaten - eventually, you stop feeling the blows.
The song is a very long, beautiful quote from the girl as she pouring her heart out to him. She's telling him how close she is to giving up on everything, even her dreams, because every day is exactly the same. It never gets better. She's telling him that she would do anything, no matter how wrong it is, if it would just make her feel better. And in all of her life, he's the only one that hasn't ignored that she's in pain.

because he saying that he wants to hold onto those things even though he knows he should leave them behind. the repetitive "to" is just, well, repetitive, but there is NO WAY that "long" could sound like "trying". it just doesnt. anyways, awesome song!!!!
