There is a house in New Orleans.
They call the Rising Sun.
And it's been the ruin of many young poor boys
And God I know I'm one.

My mother was a tailor
She sewed my new blue jeans
My father was a gamblin man
Down in New Orleans.

Now the only thing a gambler needs
Is a suitcase and a trunk
And the only time that he's satisfied
Is when he's all drunk.

Oh mother tell your children
Not to do what I have done
To spend their life in sin and misery
In the house of the Rising Sun.

With one foot on the platform
And the other foot on the train
I'm going back to New Orleans
To wear that ball and chain

There is a house in New Orleans
They call the Rising Sun
And it's been the ruin of many young poor boys
And god I know I'm one.

General Comment:led zeppelin never recorded the song. they did have an album entitled "houses of the holy" so some people probably get confused.

General Comment:I have the Page / Plant track. The one I heard is
    Live in New Orleans, 11-03-95.
They don't actually play the whole song, only the first verse. Its used as a intro into Good Times Bad Times.

General Comment:I've never heard of any Led Zeppelin version of this song, but I do know that the earliest known recording of it was made in 1934 by some old folk singer. It is believed to have been originally written sometime in the 1800s in the American south/west
