I will break into your thoughts
With what's written on my heart
I will break, break

I'm so sick, infected with
Where I live
Let me live without this
Empty bliss, selfishness
I'm so sick
I'm so sick

If you want more of this
We can push out, sell out, die out
So you'll shut up
And stay sleeping
With my screaming in your itching ears

I'm so sick, infected with
Where I live
Let me live without this
Empty bliss, selfishness
I'm so sick
I'm so sick

Hear it, I'm screaming it
You're heeding to it now
Hear it, I'm screaming it
You tremble at this sound

You sink into my clothes
This invasion makes me feel
Worthless, hopeless, sick

I'm so sick, infected with
Where I live
Let me live without this
Empty bliss, selfishness
I'm so, I'm so sick

I'm so sick, infected with
Where I live
Let me live without this
Empty bliss, selfishness
I'm so (I'm so)
I'm so sick (I'm so sick)
I'm so (I'm so)
I'm so sick (I'm so sick)

My Interpretation:Alright. I think my thoughts would deviate from the rest, but this is how I see this song. I relate to it so much...I personally think its about being abused in your home. You're so sick of living here, sick of the selfishness, you're infected by the corruption.

The first couple lines "I will break into your thoughts, with what's written on my heart" simply means the child is going to lose his/her mind, break, and pour out all of his/her anger out on the parent and show them how he/she really feels...Probably so sick of being treated like waste, that this child will go insane.

"You sink inside my clothes" in my opinion could mean that the abusive parent can really get under this person's skin and make them feel worthless, and in deep agony.

General Comment:Hi Guys I have the real meaning to this song because I've talked to band about their music.

I'll go ahead and make sure this post has a large box size so everyone can see it.

First of all I haven't read all of the posts so if anyone has already posted this then... well I'm just agreeing with you.

Second, for those that dont know already, Flyleaf is a Christian Heavy Rock Band, so pretty much all of the songs they make contain somewhat religious content.

The sickness that she talking about is the sickness within her heart, and.
Like my all time favorite band, Skillet, Flyleaf often has songs about Satan, sin, and selfness, which is briefly living for yourself and not for god. If you want an example of songs with Satan, i'd listen to "Open Wounds by Skillet". For sin and selfness, listen to "Monster" by Skillet.

Between those three, this song would fall under the category of Satan and selfness. I know this can hard to understand so I looked for other christian songs that could better describe what "the sickness of Satan and Self" really is.

these are the best songs that I found.

D.C. Talk: In The Light - Great Song! good for this.
Mercy Me: So Long Self - Another good example for self
Skillet: It's Not Me It's You - Perfect for this! Its about how Satan and sin has poisoned him and caused so much pain in his life.

It's defiantly easier to understand from a christian view but i promise you this is the song meaning.
while I'm not sure exactly every bit ad word meaning, I know the intent of the song cuz they said it at their concert at my church.

OK, so here's my personal break down, again, its not perfect, but it works with the overall song intent.

"I will break into your thoughts
With what's written on my heart
    I will break, break"
(this is the sickness of Satan, Satan gives us bad thoughts and desires, we know that they are wrong, but if are hearts are not strong enough, then they break through and we submit to them.)

    "I'm so sick,
    Infected with where I live
    Let me live without this
    Empty bliss,
    Selfishness
    I'm so sick
    I'm so sick"
(this pretty easy to understand, the part "where I live" I think is a metaphor for where he heart is.)

"If you want more of this
We can push out, sell out, die out
    So you'll shut up
    And stay sleeping
With my screaming in your itching ears"
(this is Satan again. Hes saying to stop fighting him and give in to his will on her heart, by threatening her with the pain she feels.

" Hear it, I'm screaming it
    You're heeding to it now"

    "Hear it! I'm screaming it!
    You tremble at this sound"
(She is now screaming NO! to Satan and fighting him. In the bible it said that the one thing Satan fears most is God so i think shes screaming for God, knowing that Satan will back off.)

    "You sink into my clothes
    And this invasion
    Makes me feel
    Worthless, hopeless, sick"

(By now you can probably understand the content here. I think clothes are a metaphor for "outer skin" or the way people now see her.
The invasion are the multiple struggles in her life that Satan is using to make her depressed and now feels "Worthless, hopeless, sick")

so that's it, my interpretation. please feel free to comment and god bless.

My Interpretation:I really love this song and it has such a powerful meaning to me. To me, this song isn's about sickness as in an actual illness, but the singer being sick of the state of the world, and how people are really privaleged, and have lots of great stuff but don't think about the people who suffer for all their material goods.

"I will break through your thoughts with what's written on my heart"
-What's "written on her heart" is her beliefs and such, and her "message", and she WILL make you listen to her, even if you don't want to

"I'm so sick, infected with where I live"
    - She is "infected with" where she is, because society is really material these days and because that's the way everything is naturally, it's hard to do anything else.
"Let me live without this. Empty bliss, selfishness. I'm so sick"
    - Society is content with all its material possesions, which makes our happiness "empty", because instead of trying to fufill our lives, we just try to buy the newest product that claims to bring joy. The selfishness is what we are practicing when we spend so much money on pointles possesions when others are suffering. She's is just sick of people acting like this.

"If you want more of this. We can push out, sell out, die out. So you'll shut up
And stay sleeping. With my screaming in your itching ears"
    - She's saying, if you want to keep living like this, you can go on in that pitiful way if you'd like, and you can keep you eyes closed to what's going on and try to avoid the problem, but she will keep screaming at you 'till you hear her

    "Hear it, I'm screaming it
    You're heeding to it now

    Hear it! I'm screaming it!
    You tremble at this sound"
    - People are starting to hear her now, but they don't want to accept her message, because they don't want to admit that they were wrong

That's basically what the song means to me, but really, the true mark of great music is that it can mean so many different things to different people, and I feel like this song is like that, which is one of the reasons I love it so much. Also, the guitar parts are pretty epic

Song Meaning:This song is talking about knowing and loving Jesus and living in a world where everything goes against that love. "Infected with where I live" means all of the sickness of this world and parts of it that aren't right are creeping into her. "Let me live without this empty bliss, selfishness" refers to how the world makes people feel empty inside, it never truly satisfies. "we can push out, sell out, die out so you'll shut up and stay sleeping with my screaming in your itching ears." Selling out is like not staying true to her belief in God. Shut up and stay sleeping refers to someone who doesn't know Jesus, which is why there still sleeping, and can't be moved by what she is screaming(her belief in God). Only Jesus can give us life. "Hear it Im screaming it, you tremble at this sound" means she is declaring her love for Jesus and it is very powerful. All of Flyleaf's songs have an underlying Christian meaning but, they can always be interpreted as something else. Basically, this song is about a world full of darkness and sickness and it creeping into her faith in the everlasting, powerful, eternal God.

General Comment:Hmmmmmm...rape? the media? sexual abuse? I must not have my hearing aid in today :) I don't "read" any of those things within the context of the lyrics, but what do I know (I know crap actually:). He hates himself and wants her to feel him ("I will break into your thoughts with what's written on my heart.") He is in pain and he wants her to know it (..."And stay sleeping With my screaming in your itching ears"). That's about all I got from the song. Not a bad one, but I generally like to understand a song's meaning. This one is obviously open to a wide variety of interpretations. (Thankfully they are the spice of life...it would be so boring if we all shared ears:)

My Interpretation:Sounds like this song is more about today's media.
"If you want more of this
We can push out, sell out, die out"
When an artist becomes famous, the demand for the music rises and then the artist makes more and more music, sells out, the music conforms to the demand and they lose their passion/die out.

    "You sink into my clothes"
Our fashion and trends urge people to dress a certain way.

    "And stay sleeping
With my screaming in your itching ears"
Itching ears means the one she's directing this at is yearning/eager to hear something. IE. Music.
