Lyrics for I'm So Sick as interpreted by Shahman

I'm So Sick Lyrics
I will break into your thoughts
With what's written on my heart
I will break, break

I'm so sick, infected with
Where I live
Let me live without this
Empty bliss, selfishness
I'm so sick
I'm so sick

If you want more of this
We can push out, sell out, die out
So you'll shut up
And stay sleeping
With my screaming in your itching ears

I'm so sick, infected with
Where I live
Let me live without this
Empty bliss, selfishness
I'm so sick
I'm so sick

Hear it, I'm screaming it
You're heeding to it now
Hear it, I'm screaming it
You tremble at this sound

You sink into my clothes
This invasion makes me feel
Worthless, hopeless, sick

I'm so sick, infected with
Where I live
Let me live without this
Empty bliss, selfishness
I'm so, I'm so sick

I'm so sick, infected with
Where I live
Let me live without this
Empty bliss, selfishness
I'm so (I'm so)
I'm so sick (I'm so sick)
I'm so (I'm so)
I'm so sick (I'm so sick)

i really don't think its about sell-outs. they are a christian band at heart... so the fact that the opener sounds like a prayer... and that she crosses her heart and looks to the sky in the video reinforces my view here... she is talking about getting closer to god... but from there it gets confusing... it is about where she is in life or in fact the city... its also about no one listening... don't think its about loss of faith or anything so preaching... they aren't that type of band either... the alternative version adds to that... it might be about depression and fighting it... or a relationship that is tearing her apart...

find it interesting that the other version ends in "i will compromize and die here"

love this band so much

I was surprised to see only one or two comments on this song that mentioned anything to do with abuse or rape.

"You sink into my clothes
This invasion makes me feel
Worthless, hopeless, sick"

This verse clearly indicates she had been abused - the word "invasion" is a big clue. The emotions she lists afterwards are usual symptoms of rape victims, as well.

The chorus:
I'm so sick, infected with
Where I live
Let me live without this
Empty bliss, selfishness
I'm so, I'm so sick

The chorus indicates that the abuser was close to home, which made the writer feel even more violated. She beings to feel "infected" because she is being abused in a place that is supposed to bring her security and comfort. The author feels out of place and extremely lost.

The line "Let me live without this" indicates two things about the writer: one, her inferiority to her abuser, pleading for him to end the horror; two, her longing for what she now views as a better and happier life.

The line "You broke into my faith" is an amazing way of the writer saying that her abuser came between her and something greater: her relationship with God. She feels as if she is being tested, or maybe even betrayed, by the God she felt would shelter her from such torture.

Luckily, the writer had it right: she viewed the experience, no matter how devastated and violated she felt, as a test from God. She felt if she overcame this, the experience would result in a stronger relationship and greater faith in God.

I honestly had no idea who this band was before several hours ago. So I had no idea they were a Christian rock group until I came on to this site and analyzed the lyrics. It's amazing stuff.. I'm definitely not going to stop listening to Flyleaf now that I found out what they are all about. It's actually refreshing to hear a band sing about something so compelling, besides drug addiction or heroine. (Although those are great too.)

The girl's voice gives me chills in every song on this CD. The review I read basically said they rocked hard ("with the rock hardship of Audioslave and the rock melody of Incubus"). Anyway, I'm rambling. I hoped this helped..

There are two different versions to this song. One contains a lot more screaming and is the less well-known version. The other version, of which these lyrics are, is the radio version.
She is clearly mad at someone.

"Screams awful loud for a born again christian"??

Nonsense...

When we say someone is "born again", what we mean is their spirit is reborn, but the body and mind still remain in their unclean state...

So as she sings the song, this would manifest as the spirit trying to break free from what is undesirable to her, and the apparent "sin" would come leaking out in her voice which is that of her body.

I think shes saying that since the world is so plagued by the devil she is becoming infected with this disease that we call sin.... and she doesnt want any part with it...

i think that it's about someone who is loosing their faith and is sorta hanging with a bad crowd i guess you could say and how twisted and messed up it gets and how she wants to get out of it and get her faith back
'With my screaming in your itching ears'
'Hear it, I'm screaming it
You're heeding to it now
Hear it, I'm screaming it
You tremble at this sound'
i think that you could interpret those lines as either her telling herself or someone else that to go to God or that God himself is trying to lead her back to Him. since God is always there and always trying to help you the 'itching ears' part is like him being there calling to you and 'you tremble at this sound' since God is the almighty it says in the Bible that people tremble at the sound of his name.

I think you are very right. That is exactly what I was going to put. I love the way Flyleaf meets you where you are. I know that christians are spossed to be good and joyful all the time but I'll tell u one thing. I am a christian and I can't get pretty sick of my life. I know we are always to sposed to have the "joy" of the lord but I think when we all feel sick we probubly just need to get reconected. To realize that God is mosty likey using our maybe sick circumstances for his grater good.

I think Lacey is singing about how she is sick of all those heartless people in the world who care only for themselves, and how they are actually sick people.

There is definitely another version to this song. I had heard this version while in Texas when it first came out, and when I downloaded it I got the alternate version. She speaks differently in the other version (there’s also more screaming for everyone who absolutely loves the vocal chords on this girl)

There’s a whole softer interlude to the song where she says
“I’m so sick and infected with
Where I live,
Let me live without this empty bliss, selfishness,
Let me live…”

Then it gets softer and she sings:

“I reveal,
What you stray from
All of us, we take it back, we take it back”

Then it picks up again

“You broke into my thoughts
This invasion makes me feel
Worthless, hopeless and I’m so sick
But I’ll heal, with this story always broken crushed and hopeless
But I’ll heal, I will comprise and I’ll heal…”

this song is truly deep, when i first heard it tho i related it back to a rape or some form of abuse i didn't know the lead singer was a born-again christian. but both versions of the song are exceptional

this song relates to me and i bet everyone i guess.
i'm sick of being sinful and greedy and disobeying my parents, and cussing and not following God and missing opportunities to share Jesus with others on purpose cuz i was too scared or something.
I'M SOOOOOOOOOO SICK!!!!!!!!!!

and in case you didn't know wat the song really means (referring to alot of the comments on the first page, its about a chirstian's walk in their spiritual life. and how we are born again but that doesn't mean that we are perfect. we will still sin too because we are still human. so bascially its saying that we are sick of all the bad things that we do even though we know its wrong and we have the truth but we still stray away from God.

to add more to my comment, i think "you" in the lyrics of the song could referr to satan himself and how he tempts us and how his little wispers in our ears are so deceiving. i hope more ppl think the same way about this song because it has sooooooooo much of a deeper meaning to it.

Personally Even tho this song can be about how annoyed and sick some one is about the world around them (like me) I think the song is about the current Music industry. cause if you really think and listen to the lyrics, then think about Pop-stars and rock-stars and rappers act then u can understand where i am coming from (and i put those groups of artist cause that's who we see so much of)

I could be waaay off, and I actually probably am, but I remember reading somewhere (might have been Wikipedia, but I just checked and didn't see it) that this song was about the Columbine massacre.

However, I do agree with a lot of the meanings posted here.. Most seem to fit. As for me I tend to listen to this song when I'm frustrated, or as the song implies, literally feeling sick. Sounds scary, eh? :P. I promise I'm not a psycho, at least not in that sense, but I do understand the feeling of being 'sick', and not sick like the flu. Ie. Being sick of something... Stuff like that.

I think this song means that where she lives theres just so much hatred and she wants to get out of there and she's sick of it.

i think you guys are right with the stuff youre saying about this song having a lot to do with god and satan (and sin) being present everywhere...

but to me personally it means something completely else...to me its about being SICK of just about everything around me, so to me personally in the song theres no metaphorical meaning...its just exactly what she says: being sick of where i live being sick of the people around me...the "you" are just all these people trying to tell me who i should be, that i should listen to what they say andnot listenuing to me when i try to tell them im not okay.

the sinking into clothes is their penetrating, forcing way of trying to convince me of being who they wnat me to be.

You sink into my clothes
This invasion makes me feel
Worthless, hopeless, sick

this is how a girl feels after she has been personally violated. This song has a deeper meaning than sell outs in the show buisness. god and anything else. It's about her past, which was pretty fucked up
