"Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him.
There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time.
I've never been the kind that you'd call lucky
Always stumbling around in circles
But I must have stumbled into something
Look at me
Am I really alone with you?
I wake up feeling like my life's worth living
Can't recall when I last felt that way
Guess it must be all this love you're giving
Never knew, never knew it could be like this
But I guess
Some hearts, they just get all the right breaks
Some hearts have the stars on their side
Some hearts, they just have it so easy
Some hearts just get lucky sometimes
Some hearts just get lucky, lucky sometimes
Now, who'd have thought someone like you could love me?
You're the last thing my heart expected
Who'd have thought I'd ever find somebody
Someone who, someone who makes me feel like this?
Well, I guess
Some hearts, they just get all the right breaks
Some hearts have the stars on their side
Some hearts, they just have it so easy
Some hearts just get lucky sometimes
Some hearts just get lucky sometimes
Even hearts like mine
Get lucky, lucky sometimes
Even hearts like mine
Some hearts, they just get all the right breaks
Some hearts have the stars on their side, yes
Some hearts, they just have it so easy
Some hearts just get lucky sometimes
Some hearts, they just get all the right breaks
Some hearts have the stars on their side
Some hearts, they just have it so easy
Some hearts just get lucky sometimes
Some hearts just get lucky sometimes
Ooh, sometimes
Always stumbling around in circles
But I must have stumbled into something
Look at me
Am I really alone with you?
I wake up feeling like my life's worth living
Can't recall when I last felt that way
Guess it must be all this love you're giving
Never knew, never knew it could be like this
But I guess
Some hearts, they just get all the right breaks
Some hearts have the stars on their side
Some hearts, they just have it so easy
Some hearts just get lucky sometimes
Some hearts just get lucky, lucky sometimes
Now, who'd have thought someone like you could love me?
You're the last thing my heart expected
Who'd have thought I'd ever find somebody
Someone who, someone who makes me feel like this?
Well, I guess
Some hearts, they just get all the right breaks
Some hearts have the stars on their side
Some hearts, they just have it so easy
Some hearts just get lucky sometimes
Some hearts just get lucky sometimes
Even hearts like mine
Get lucky, lucky sometimes
Even hearts like mine
Some hearts, they just get all the right breaks
Some hearts have the stars on their side, yes
Some hearts, they just have it so easy
Some hearts just get lucky sometimes
Some hearts, they just get all the right breaks
Some hearts have the stars on their side
Some hearts, they just have it so easy
Some hearts just get lucky sometimes
Some hearts just get lucky sometimes
Ooh, sometimes

I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.
Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.

There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.
Basically it's about how everyone is different, feels different, and gets different chances. Each person is an individual, and a lot of times you can't control what is happening to you. Things happen unexpectedly, but you have to deal with it.
This is 1 of my theme songs
i love the part when she shouts
she's got great great vocals
Aww I love this song, I bet she thinks about Chad when she sings it.
Anywho, I think it's about someone never really quite doing anything right, but one of those mistakes landed her in a situation where she met someone who changed her life, and she loved more than anything.
It's a sweet song, and I named my website after it.
I think this song is about a person who's a little tactless, but through some lucky mistake landed her in a great relationship. This song makes me think about one of my greatest friends.
seems to me like its about someone who never had much luck... made mistakes, but somehow she ended up with the love of her life and feels like maybe through all the pain and heartache everything seems so worthwhile... reminds me very much of me and my boyfriend... i never had much luck, but now that I am with him, it feels like everything is falling into place... like i am finally where i am supposed to be
its what every girl dreams of. The one guy who makes everything seem perfect. sigh I want that
I think it's about how some people just get it easy. It seems like everything always works out for them, and they don't even try. But here she is, feeling like she's nothing special, and she's had bad luck in the past. But she feels that now she's the one with all the luck because she has someone to really love her.
