  General Comment:I honestly think this song is about 2 soul-mates who have not yet found each other. That we are all tied together by life and we all stumble through life and deal with sadness, loneliness and defeat but that none of us are meant to be alone. We all have someone who we are meant to be with and that we are all on our way to finding that person... He talks about how hollow we are without love and how it takes love and care to find it. Life is pointless without it. We have our hearts on safe but sometimes we have to jump out of our comfort zone to find that one that 'we belong' with... and in the end i think he's saying that he hopes that when we are lonely and empty, we need to remember that there's someone out there waiting... who feels the same and someday you'll be together... and what a gift that is.

  Song Meaning:I think it's about how a guy wants this girl to be his one true love, how they are kind of like entwined together in life, yet somehow she manages to see herself so far from him and with other guys, even if she knows in her heart how he feels and how she truly feels about him. She can't make up her mind whether she wants him and at the end of the day when she isn't so happy he wants her to find the gift which is his love for her which is undying because he knows they truly belong together.

  General Comment:It's that surest of sure feelings that burns within you, no matter how much it hurts to realize it, that you and this certain someone were just meant to be together, despite the obstacles that the two of you may face. Though lovers are constantly reminded that they may in fact just be fools in love, there is always that gut feeling that we all get in the beginning that we are all right, and in any relationship it is what we all must hold onto (: The fact that this song was chosen for one of my all-time favorite movies, Tristan + Isolde, just reiterates all that I've just said... Such a sad & heartbreaking story that beats to the very core of love. It's undeniable. Who hasn't felt this way once or twice in their lives? Keep that feeling no matter what. Your gut instinct, your first thought, is always the right one. Don't let anyone tell you any differently.

  I have a question about one of the lyrics...
  "...taste the milk of your mother earth's love..." I don't understand the meaning here. I think it's more than a "sensual" lyric...there's a deeper meaning. Can someone help to clarify it.

  General Comment:Note: the person who posted the lyrics messed them up. There are two versions of the song. The version used for "Tristan & Isolde" and the album version which is off of "Gavin DeGraw" (the 2008 album).
  
  Anyways: I think this song is not just about romance but of love in general and how universal and life changing it can be. There are some clear Christian references and themes as well as some of metaphysics. This verse from the Bible comes to mind, it's from the Gospel of Matthew: "I am with you always, even til the end of time".
