Bones bones brittle little bones
its not the milk you seek
its the sun you need
and the sleek sleek skeleton i hold
where are the hidden folds
where is the meat?
did you eat it?

total void tells me stories
sometimes they make me sorry
but i need another
i need another
sugar dumpling muffin baby
this world is going crazy
i think i'm through listening to you

bones bones brittle little bones
its not the milk you seek
its just the sun you need
and the sleek sleek skeleton i hold
where are the hidden folds
where is the meat? did you eat it?

gonna make some plans
wait and see
turn it off
turn me on
open your eyes look around you
fuck what you heard
you were lied to
sweetheart
sick body part
sickheart
sweet body part

bones bones brittle little bones
its not the milk you seek
its the sun you need
and the sleek sleek skeleton i hold
where are the hidden folds
where is the meat? did you eat it?

General Comment:I always interepeted this song as being about eating disorders but it always confused me that the person seemed to be concerned about his girlfriend/friends eating disorder by saying things like "where is the meat did you eat?" but then just turning around and not caring and just being uninterested.

General Comment:this song is about someone telling themself to stop listening ("I think I'm through, listening to you") to a self-destructive ("brittle bones/sick body part") and misled inner part of themself (misled by tv...etc "fuck what you heard/you were lied to") and to get out and discover the better part of themself ("the meat")/the point of life. (gonna make some plans)

well, i just said 'themself' a lot, but you get the drift.

General Comment:nice interpretation samanthasecretagent... Before I read that I was hearing the song as a guy who was sick of his skinny girlfriend. He prefered someone with a little booty (where's the folds" Noot only does she deprive herself of food, but she is vapid (double meaning for total void--her stomach and the girl's personality.
Also, the kidneys are the most important organ in activating (beta-hydroxylating) vitamin D, sunlight only plays a minor role. I listen to this song while inserting hemodialysis catheters in patients without functioning kidneys. all of them require vitamin D supplementation with already activated vitamin D. Most of them don't hear the song because they are sedated while I work on them, but I hear the song and always smile when it comes on, thinking of ex girlfriends who were skinny. too much info? oh well

General Comment:*Gasp* a vegan bitching about milk? shocking...

anyways with SamanthaSecretAgent's superlative insight into this song, i'm lead to believe that "she" is none other than, Nick Diamonds, or Nick T. whichever he is wanting to be called. Hah the jig is up!

but.... in case that isn't the case, i agree with the "total void" being T.V. especially with the following lines " tells me stories, sometimes they make me sorry" these being either shows, movies, or the news. and the lines "but i need another, i need another" obviously signify an addiction, whether it be to the "total void" or to assorted illegal substances that the title makes relevant.

i'm not sure about the SMDB, maybe just whimsical imagery... idk

personally i feel like the chorus is about a relationship that the protagonist of this song is in. the "sleek skeleton that i hold" may be the protagonist holding his partner(in the classical sense, like a hug, not a child), however this "sleek" (meaning skinny, attractive) "skeleton"(meaning a person, bone structure) has no "hidden folds"(meaning this person is attractive, but doesn't have an intresting personality) which is supported by the first verse's last line "i think i'm through listening to you" (obviously because they're boring) however i don't know about the second verse i draw a blank

General Comment:i completely agree with the statement above me. while "samanthasecretagent" has good points, the eating disorder theory is what really caught me on this one.

General Comment:I'm pretty sure one person on here doesn't know the meaning of the song so nobody should act like they do. Interpret it how you want to. If you want to interpret it as your bones get strong from the vitamin d that is in the sun...then okay.

General Comment:Instead of fighting about milk and sunlight and vitamin d, why don't you shut the fuck up and read some truth, people...

    1. The title refers to the idea of "the pot calling the kettle black". In so much that one person is saying the other has an eating disorder and that person responds along the lines of 'well you aren't so perfect either'. And this is clearly in reference to the eating disorders and drug problems of Whitney Houston and the legal, mental, and drug problems of Bobby Brown.

    2. The chorus is a friend/lover asking the friend/partner if they have an eating disorder and they are trying to tell them that they are confusing "miracule cures" and easy schemes with true health and healing. The idea being that believing drinking milk would be all you need to have strong healthy bones, when in fact the milk would do very little if you didn't already lead a decently healthy and active life. It's about not believing everything you hear about quick and easy fixes to real problems.

    3. The first verse has a few clever things in it: "Total Void..." is obviously a reference to television... TV. Then there is "sugar dumpling muffin baby" which again is an acronym: SDMB standing for the "Straight Dope Message Board". This is a website based off of a popular Q&A news column about wives' tales and myths and things.

I don't feel like going through line by line, and what I put is basically the obscure parts. Look at the rest and think of it along this context.

Mainly this is a song about not getting sucked into media frenzies and crazy tales and legends, so much so that they take over your life and cause even more problems. Usually these are problems that are easily solved by simple, practical means, but often the media and friends and neighbors and such go crazy with "quick and easy" methods or tricks that almost always are more trouble than they should be and often cause long term problems bigger than those you started with. I think this is a great and clever song, and I think you are voiding the purpose of this website if you come on here just to complain about whether or not milk is good for you.

    Smarten up people.

General Comment:"The vitamin D that we get from sunlight is healthy for your bones."

okay, that entire statement is ridiculous. you have your facts wrong, honey. sunlight does not have vitamin d in it. what, do you think we absorb it from the sun like plants? no. milk and dairy products, as well as other foods, have vitamin d. however, vitamin d does not become active or effective in your body until you are exposed to sunlight. therefore, yes, sunlight is necessary for milk to be effective - but you can't go with the sunlight WITHOUT the milk. :b

General Comment:maybe its about being weak and too dependent on somebody.
    being undermined with baby talk.
get some sunlight instead of sucking on the tit.
get out and expirience things, make yourself interesting (where are the hidden folds)

its probably completely wrong but i need it to mean that lol
