Wether you're in L.A., sunny laid back L.A.
Wether you in New York, comfort 'round your block
Wether you're in the UK, where the sky is dark
and the grass is kinda green , you know like central park.
Still my favorite place in this whole wide world
has got to be in the middle of the ocean floor.
I see you poking out the ocean.
Paradise on earth.
The 50th State - What?! Hawaii

(A nuclear disaster might be on our way, I don't care I'm in the USA).

Whether you're drunk or stoned or we're sober and old.
If I'm with you I'm a happy man.
If you feel safe and cold while you count your gold.
If your problem is you can't find your remote control.
Still my favorite person in the whole wide world
is the woman who can understand every word
and when she speaks to me she makes me see the whole wide world
as my favorite place. Hawaii.

We got it made. Yes, I know.
Can we go by plane or boat.

Wether you take it slow or you let me go.
Wether you tell me something that I did not know.
Wether you’re neat and polite or you scream and fight.
Wether you keep something from me that I would not like.
Still my favorite attitude in this whole wide world so far
Is the friendly spirit or an iron heart,
like the way folks are in whis most special place.
I don’t care what happens, I’m taking a plane to...

Hawaii, Hawaii, Hawaii, Hawaii,
Hawaii, Hawaii, Hawaii, Hawaii.

Kauai or Oahu, Molokai and Lanai.
Maui and the big guy, aka Hawaii.

(Cut off from Malaysia back in who knows when...)

Oh, we got kinda lost, but my god, what a place.
I profess, Airforce jets cannot take away my soul.

General Comment:First of all, this song rocks; currently one of my favorite Strokes songs. I'm pretty sure that the lyrics here, as for most lyrics posted on this site, are incorrect.

In response to ActlikeRomans, I agree that for this song the Strokes totally stole the riff from the organ part in Tally Ho. I have no problem with them doing so; actually, I'm glad they did because Hawaii is a song that really moves me. The lead singer does an excellent job with the vocals, particularly at the song's climax as he seems to have channeled the ghost of Joey Ramone quite perfectly.

General Comment:I live on the Big Island of Hawaii. And I have to make a correction here... The line "Maui and the big guy, aka Hawaii." is definitely supposed to be "Maui and the Big Island, aka Hawaii." The Big Island's real name is Hawaii. It's called the Big Island to avoid confusion with the state name.

General Comment:i hate to say it but this is a blatent rip off of a song called "tally ho" by "the clean" the strokes are 1 of the best bands of all time tho the music is perfect and the vocal melodies are peerless. You can really see the personalities of all of them in every song its such a rareity in music.it makes it hard to except that they completely stole this song of some aul band that suck balls. Why did they do it?!!!!WHY JULIAN!???
