In better days I've been known to listen I go to waste all my time is missing I'm mapping out my ending, It's never gonna happen now These things are condescending With everybody backing down You pray to stars that can help you get by And all at once you forget to try I'd go there if you let me, They're never gonna find me now My life is always empty And in and out of doubt Your not coming back for me, these things they will never be I'm so used to being wrong, so put me where I belong I'll get back to you, God knows I try, But I still lose And I get back to you, These days run by, But I still lose Angels say they can make you suffer They give and take like a vicious lover When all this loses meaning, You'll never want it back somehow Awake but still I'm dreaming And never waking up Alone...Where I'm not alone

General Comment:When I hear this song, I think of a lonely old man, sitting alone on a park bench day after day having outlived his wife. I think in life, he may have been disrespectful to her, or at least he did not treat her as he wished he had. Now that she is gone, he realizes that she was the purpose to his life, and grows more and more despondent each day without her. Ultimately, he wishes for death, and one day he decides to end it all, and these are his final thoughts before he lets death take him.

Song Meaning:" Angels say they can make you suffer
They give and take like a vicious lover. "

In some contexts it was believed that angels were not always fond of mankind,
The can be as cruel as they can be kind. In the video, it shows a man repairing an angels wings. As soon as he has done this- She leaves.

Give and take... She gave to him her company and love, but took it away when she left.

General Comment:This phrase at the end:

    Alone... Where I'm not alone

    ..

Having struggled with depression for the last 6ish years of my life that I can remember back to (I was diagnosed with it but never accepted medication), I've had my share of suicidal thoughts and everything else. Whenever I tell this ex of mine that I feel lonely she replies 'You just went out with friends last night' or 'You're with your friends right now'.. But it's not just that. Being with other people or in the company of friends doesn't make me feel any less alone. When you're depressed.. being with 20 friends or 3 best friends doesn't make a difference.. I still feel loneliness constantly even when I'm with those people. I think that's what this phrase really speaks to.

General Comment:Personally I havn't ever really looked at the lyrics of this song. I was just so blown away by, not only the purity of Dallas Green's voice, but the actuall song itself and how beautifully it was put together.

General Comment:my perfect scenario is anything but you guys have described. driving in a torrential storm with the windshield wipers oscillating vigorously back and forth as you try your hardest to focus on the taillights in front of you, yet also fighting back the burning sensation in your eyes. anything to escape from the sad or bittersweet thoughts that this song brings to you. maybe not much of a desirable situation, but 'perfect' for the mood nonetheless in my opinion.

General Comment:This is about a man who is lost in spiritual fulfillment and direction.

Phrase 1: He's trying to justify his life to himself (trying to comfort himself).

Phrase 2: Under his own power and direction he tries, but get's stone-walled and keeps failing.

Phrase 3: Somehow it's suggested to him (maybe an angel suggests) to look God for guidance, but he finds prayer isn't getting him anywhere; he still must try.

Phrase 4: He's asking God (or this angel he's talking to) to take him to heaven for the reason his life is so empty and there's nobody on in life that will notice him.

Phrase 5: The angel (it's an angel now that I think about it) that's gone away (or back to heaven), and left him alone with no way out.

Phrase 6: He's talking to the angel and putting his faith and direction in the angel, and still it won't work.

Phrase 7: He's learnt from this angel and explains it out; you could get manipulated if you're guided by angels and not God.

Phrase 8: After the angel is gone (a cool experience no doubt) he slides back into the world he justifies from the first line of the song.

I think in this song he recognizes he's not getting to heaven in the way things are going in his life. He wants to, and I think his prayer is to put him where he's not alone.

    * Sounds to me like he needs a friend*
