Lyrics for The Grace as interpreted by TheRapture

The Grace Lyrics
Written by: Daniel Victor

In better days I've been known to listen
I go to waste all my time is missing

I'm mapping out my ending,
it's never gonna happen now
These things are condescending
with everybody backing down

You pray to stars that can help you get by
And all at once you forget to try

I'd go there if you let me,
they're never gonna find me now
My life is always empty
and in and out of doubt

Your not coming back for me, these things they will never be
I'm so used to being wrong, so put me where I belong

I get back to you,
God knows I try,
but I still lose
And I get back to you,
these days run by,
but I still lose

Angels say they can make you suffer
They give and take like a vicious lover

When all this loses meaning,
You'll never want it back somehow
Awake but still I'm dreaming
And never waking up

Alone...Where I'm not alone

This song was written about a man who wants to take his life because he feels he can't find where or what his purpose is in this world. He is struggling with his inner angels and demons, and he's fighting his own voices to figure out what's right. He is basically asking for help. The original title is 'The Grace Of A Happy Death."

This is such a beautiful song. I can't help but tear up when I hear the song. I'm listening to the song right now and all I'm really thiking is that the guy has lost someone and they realize that nothing will be the same because that someone is no longer with them. Death? I don't know. Breakup, runaway? All I know is that I love this song.

This song just puts me in a great place. Like nothing else is going on around me. It's a beautifully sad song, and having Dallas sing it was a great idea.

My friend introduced me to this song, and the second I heard it I could relate at least partially to the lyrics. Now, it seems more and more of it becomes clearer every day. I think it's about someone who is extremely lost, and doesn't know where to turn. He had someone before, but he feels as though they've left him and will never come back.

Yeah.. definitely a suicide song. But it's so pretty, you can't think of it as a sad song.

God, I love Dallas.

Oohmygod. This song is awesome. Such a good song. Who knew Dallas had a voice like that? From Alexisonfire to THIS?

actually HarlequinGirl, dallas doesn't sing the hardcore stuff in alexisonfire. that's george. songs like happiness by the kilowatt and it was fear of myself that made me odd by alexis are sung by dallas. so it's not as big of a change for dallas (to go from alexis to this song) as you think it is.

I am not too sure of my thougts on this song, however I think it's about someone who has lost their partner, yet hasn't really because they are in his head and heart still...and it's like he's talking to himself and her aswell in the song...if you see the music video, there is a guy there sewing on wings to an angel who has lost her wings...but they are also in love and at the end she leaves but she's still in his head...where he's "alone but not alone"...Beautiful song no matter. I find it strange also that many people think it's strange that Dallas Green is as good a singer as he is in this song since he is part of Alexisonfire, but in Alexisonfire he is the melodic vocalist, he doesn't do any screaming.

And to clear something up incase you didn't know...Neverending White Lights is NOT a band! It is a compilation of songs written by Daniel Victor and sung by various vocalists from OLP, 311, Alexisonfire and many others. This song is from Act 1....I can't wait to see what Act 2 is like and what singers will contribute to it!

Daniel Victor is genesis. Neverending White lights was just a side project he basically recorded and produced everything in his house. Then got amazing people like Dallas Green, Raine Maida(our lady peace), Scott Anderson(finger eleven), Jonathan Foreman(switchfoot), Nick Hexew(311) to sing the lyrics. Act:1: Goodbye Friends of the Heavenly Bodies is an awesome album and i can't for Act 2.

this is one song that i dont really care what its about (no offense to anyone who does!). he could be singing about doing all the drugs in the world but if it sounded like this i would still defintly listen to it. It makes me think about how in love I am. I love this song!!

Could this song possibly be playing in the background of a movie trailer or something? The reason I ask is because there are a few parts that sound so familiar to me.

Well everyones own opinions are great. and nice to hear since a song really isn't imortant unless it actually means something to everyone. It can mean anything and its still important to SOMEONE. Dallas Green did do a BEAUTIFUL job on the vocals for this song. Ive alos noticed that NO ONE mentioned much about Daniel Victor in all this. It was his song, his writing and music that made the masterpiece be. I've spoken with daniel victor about this song and he states that he can't believe how much people love THIS song compared to his other songs he worked so hard on. This song...lol...believe it or not, was written VERY quickly to try to fill up the album to get it out there! can you believe it!?!??! PHENOMINAL! he's amazing. both of them are.
