Hello, how are you?
Like your shoes, love your hair.
Hello, how are you?
Love that shirt, you look great.
Hello, how are you?
Love your pants and your smile.
Hello, how are you?
How's your wife and your kids?
Hello, how are you?
Love that hat on your head.
Hello, how are you?
Missed you so; it's nice to see ya.

All we have at the end of the game
Is a lonely road out.
All I know at the end of the day
Is the love to smile now, even if that's fake.
All I know is I'm done acting
And I'll be happy for your life, even if I hate it all

Wait for me, I've got to see
The looks that you will get
When you turn down the key
To the town and your social being.

All we have at the end of the game
Is a lonely road out
All I know at the end of the day
Is the love to smile now, even if that's fake
All I know is I'm done acting
And I'll be happy for your life, even if I hate it all

All we have at the end of the game
Is a lonely road out
All I know at the end of the day
Is the love to smile now, even if that's fake
All I know is I'm done acting
And I'll be happy for your life, even if I hate it all

Hello, how are you?
Like your shoes, love your hair.
Hello, how are you?
Love that shirt, you look great.
Hello, how are you?
Missed you so; it's nice to see ya.

My Interpretation:i kind of feel this song could also be interpreted this way:

there's a person who just annoys you or you just don't like them, or maybe they did you wrong, but you have to be nice to them because either they don't deserve to be hated and/or no matter how much you want to hate them you can't because either they are too good of a person or you are too good of a person.

idk. this could also tie in with the relationship theory. like the couple or whatever separated for whatever reason that changed everything, but they can't be hateful to each other because of the good things and times they once shared are too valuable.

General Comment:i agree completely with importantopolis, when he says this is one of the most bittersweet emo songs ever. Ive been saying that for a long time myself. It is hard to accept the fact that something that was once the most important thing to you, could become something so insignificant. To go from being someone's everything to being nothing at all. I think Arthur can finally accept that and is happy nonetheless. When he says he's done acting and will be happy for your life even if i hate it all, that is when he comes to the realization that he truly can appreciate life even if it is without that person. And he will love it even if it isn't perfect.

General Comment:And topher, aam, and alasan,
who says all those beginning lyrics have to be to one person?
Why would to people keep saying hello how are you to each other?
    That doesn't make sense.

General Comment:Oh and all you people who consider this emo, that's just stupid.
There's a difference between emo and a song with a sad meaning.
Ska may have some sad or mean songs, but its still ska.
These guys aren't emo, they're rock and that's all to be said.

General Comment:This is song is like my life story...
I mean to me, its about a relationship that was once the most important thing ever in these two people's lives. However, after awhile, they start to drift apart and one them moves on. The other person still cares and loves their partner but since they love him or her so much, they want them to be happy even if that means not being together. They've drifted so much that the only thing they say to each other is how they look that day...

General Comment:Well thank you for the clarification Topher ... it reminds me of somebody I know actually ... Drummergirl, does "icky" mean anything to you? haha! if only ...

But yes it makes sense either way, whether the guy be gay, straight, asexual ... great song.

General Comment:Actually, Drummergirl and Aam, it's probably actually a conversation between the guy (singer) and his ex. It would break down like this:

Guy: "Hello how are you, love your shoes and your hair?"
Girl: "Hello how are you? Love that shirt you look great!"
Guy again: Hello how are you? Love your pants and your smile!"
Girl: Hello how are you? how's your wife and your kids?"

Actually, breaking it down like that, you could probably say that the guy is trying to take the conversation down an almost flirtatious path, commenting on her appearance and how she still looks good to him, while she reminds him he's married with children.

General Comment:I am also confused, Drummergirl659. The line about "How's your wife and your kids?" is strange since it's a male singer. Maybe his partner from years ago left him for a gal? And now, although he can't fully appreciate his partner's new life, he has to accept it? Not sure about this one ...
