Lyrics for 1958 as interpreted by VerminElder

1958 Lyrics
(And shepherds we shall be,
for thee my lord for thee.
Power hath descended forth from thy hand,
that our feet may swiftly carry out thy command.
We shall flow river forth to thee,
and teeming with souls shall it ever be.
In nomine patris,
et filli,
et spiritus sancti.)

You've sunk lower than I've ever seen,
and even though you deserved this,
I tried to catch your fall.
I've grown so tired of your childish threats,
Know that I'll never run from anything.

And I'll burn the building if I knew you'd die.
And I'll pray you're a failure,
And that you won't make it out alive.

And I'll burn the building if I knew you'd die.
And I'll pray you're a failure,
And that you won't make it out alive.

Here's where we prove all your fairytales wrong.
This all stops tonight.
Swim in your sea of smoke until your lungs lose the fight.
It's over,
this all stops tonight.
Or prove me wrong.

What have you become trough your jealousy?
You've threatened my life, my friends and family.
This is your last wrong turn in your life,
and this dead end leads to a blood bath,
your blood bath.

You'll never stop us with your one-man army,
We would burn him alive.
You'll never stop us with your one-man army,
If you're such a man then bring the fight.
You'll never stop us with your one-man army,
We would burn him alive.
You'll never stop us with your one-man army,
If you're such a man then bring the fight.
(We're paging 1958)
(We're paging 1958)
We're all one and the same,
we're moving on, and living our dreams
(We're paging 1958).
We're all one and the same,
we're moving on, and living our dreams.
(We're paging 1958)

This is me calling you out
You want to talk like a man
Then be a man
Stop talking and be that man
It’s funny how you always have so much to say
But it’s never to our faces
I’m right here

those are the lyrics to what the vocalist is saying in the dub over the music at the end of the song

repeating was almost right, here's the correct dub.

This is me calling you out
You want to talk like a man
Then be a man
Stop talking and do something
It’s funny how you always have so much to say
When it’s never to our faces
I’m right here

Sorry, another mistake.

This is me calling you out
You want to talk like a man
Then be a man
Stop talking and do something
It’s funny how you have so much to say
When it’s never to our faces
I’m right here

amazing. the vocals arent so great but the lyrics are simply amazing.

im guessing its written by someone that was seriously let down by someone. and lied to. and that persons hurt so much that they want revenge. permanent revenge on that person.

intense much?

iloveit.

This is probably one of the best songs by them, the lyrics aren't too great, but im sure if they re-did the song today, they would be able to get it down better.

Am i the only one who thought this was about God?
The spoken introduction sounds almost prayerlike.
This song could present a disbelief in god:

"And I'll burn the building if I knew you'd die.
And I'll pray you're a failure,
And that you won't make it out alive."

meaning, i'll burn the church and pray you're a faliure (basicly mocking god)

"fairytales" may be references to the stories form the bible.

"one-man-army" could easily mean Jesus, God sent Jesus down as his one man army to change everything.

Thats what i thought anyway, i know it's controversial but i think it's pretty interesting take on the song that stood out straight away for me.

yeah greg, what you say makes sense....

in WHY WALK ON WATER WHEN WE'VE GOT BOATS
it is pretty much the same thing.
so i wouldn't doubt it.

and i don't understand the quote at the beginning.
idk what boondock saints are =/

the boondock saints is the movie the quote at the beginning is from.

but i, too, think this song is about a coward/backstabber. a recurring theme in a lot of their songs, but they do it well. [:

It's about their ex-drummer Brandon Roberts. 1958 was the last 4 digits of his cell phone number.
