Baby!
You don't wanna make me cry
Or I will fill you with the emptiness inside.

Okay! Alright!

Baby!
You don't wanna say goodbye
Or I will soak you in this rich formaldehyde.

Cause you're beautiful tonight
And the stars are burning bright.
And I give this curse to you
Like there is nothing else to do.

So let the purple sky explode.
Let it shower us with toads.
Let the scarlet river flood,
So it can drown us all in blood.

I just hope you don't,
Hope you don't.

It's funny,
How crazy you make me feel sometimes.
I'm so broken
I can barely even rhyme.

Okay! Alright!

Honey!
It's crazy that you take up all my time
Got me sippin' at a gross amount of wine.

But you're beautiful tonight
And the stars are burning bright.
And I give this curse to you
Like there's nothing else to do.

So let the purple sky explode.
Let it shower us with toads.
Let the scarlet river flood,
Let it drown us all in blood.

Tonight, I guess, I'm human.
So thank you for fighting
And havin' sex with me.

Tonight, I guess, I'm human.
So thank you for fighting
And havin' sex with me.

Oh!

My Interpretation:To me; it comes off as..

"I loved this toxic girl, but I have to move on, thanks for the sex."

    In short XD

General Comment:Raining meteors, plagues of toads, and turning the water of the Nile into blood were all miracles performed by Moses in the old testament to free the Jewish people from their Egyptian oppressors.

Assuming he didn't put the biblical reference (or Torah reference, whichever floats your boat) for giggles, it must carry some significance. I suspect Egypt parallels whoever he is seeing at the time, essentially oppressing and restricting him, and although he wants everything to work, the two inadvertently plague each other.

General Comment:Max Bemis parallels things in all of his songs. He's comparing a relationship to the plagues.

This song makes me laugh because he talks all about how this girl takes up all his time and makes him feel so broken, and then goes on to say "but you're beautiful tonight." Who else could do that?

General Comment:i always picture max outside of some chick's window completely smashed while singing this. he's got the bottle in a paper bag in one hand, and he's slurring and screaming this song up at her from her lawn.

....dear lord, i so would not mind looking out my window and seeing that <3

General Comment:I think in the beginning he is confessing his love for a girl, and begging her not to hurt him, because he doesn't think he could handle it. (You don't wanna make me cry or I will fill you with the emptiness inside. Baby! You don't wanna say goodbye or I will soak you in this rich formaldehyde.)

He then goes onto say that he feels like this is the perfect time for him to pass on the burden of his love to her, because it was all he could do. (You're beautiful tonight, the stars are burning bright, I'll give this curse to you, like there's nothing else to do)

He wouldn't care if plagues were rained down upon them he loves her so much.

For the next verses, she's sortof already knocked him down, so he tries more desperately for her love. First he tries pity, by saying she makes him feel crazy, and how broken he feels by her not accepting his love right away. When that tactic fails, he tries to show her how much he's sacrificed for (it's crazy how you take up all my time, got me sipping at a gross amount of wine)

For the chorus he turns back to the romance version, desperately trying to woo her.

Then, he finally gets it, so he gives in, and just thanks her for pretending to care (fighting and having sex).

General Comment:this song has always been complicated to me and yet i could always connect with the lyrics with the tone max uses

like how he compares the relationship to the plague back in the jesus days (i forget about religion/christianity) and how if this girl leaves him bad things will happen and they will both feel the loss

the part about fighting and having sex confuses me, perhaps the sex was a highlight in the relationship and he is thankful

General Comment:This song is not about passover lol... Max, doesn't right songs about holidays, c'mon.

I think that it's about him being in love with a girl who he thinks is going to leave him. And he threatens her that he'll make her feel just as empty as him. Or in the latter verse, kill her and preserve her(which I'm sure is just him taking it too far like he always does)

I don't know what purple skies or toads represent, maybe he's just making references to the plague, especially about the scarlet river and everything. And by saying all he is saying that everyone goes through these things.

The last part is where everything gets thrown off, but my best guess is that she was playing hard to get the whole time and making him miserable, but now she has had sex with him and completely given in to him. So he's probably over her and thus not miserable anymore, but that really is just the kind of person max is.
