I can still see the light at the end of the tunnel shine,
Through the dark times even when I lose my mind.
But it feels like no one in the world is listenin,
and I can't ever seem to make the right decisions.
I walk around in the same haze, I'm still caught in my same ways.
I'm losing time in these strange days,
but somehow I always know the right things to say.

I don't know what time it is,
or who's the one to blame for this.
Do i believe what i can't see?
and how do you know which way the wind blows?
Cause i can feel it all around,
I'm lost between the sound.
And just when I think I know, there she goes.

Goodbye for now, Goodbye for now (so long)
Goodbye for now,
I'm not the type to say i told you so.
Goodbye for now (so long)
I think the hardest part of holding on is lettin it go.
When will we sing a new song? A new song.

I'm still smiling as the day goes by,
and how come nobody ever knows the reasons why?
Bury it deep, so far that you can't see.
If your like me, who wears a broken heart on your sleeve,
Pains and struggles that you know so well,
Either time don't, it can't, or it just won't tell.
I'm not the type to say i told you so,
I think the hardest part of holding on is lettin it go.

A new song.
When will we sing a new song? A new song.

And you can sing until there's no song left (song left)
And I can scream until the world goes deaf (goes deaf)
For every other word left unsaid,
you should've took the time to read the signs
and see what it meant (what it meant)
In some ways everybody feels alone,
so if the burden is mine then i can carry my own (carry my own)
If joy really comes in the morning time,
then I'm gonna sit back and wait until the next sunrise.

Goodbye for now, Goodbye for now (so long)
Goodbye for now,
I'm not the type to say i told you so.
Goodbye for now (so long)
I think the hardest part of holding on is lettin it go.
When will we sing a new song? A new song.
When will we sing a new song? A new song.

General Comment:The beautiful thing about music is how the words and music can be molded perfectly to fit our current situation.

For myself, this song is like a tribute to those who, like me, suffer from Borderline Personality Disorder.

The first verse is just like being inside the mind of someone who suffers from this. You feel insane, "stuck in your old ways" even when you know it's wrong. It's as if your mind is truly in a fog, and yet you can always find the "right words to say" when it's all over to convince those you hurt in your blind rage to forgive you.

The chorus deals more with the confusion, and the blame you place on others for your condition. You feel completely lost, and in the end your loved ones can no longer take it.

The second verse relates to other side of BPD, you smile and push all of the feelings you possibly can deep inside. You try to warn people not to get close to you, trying to get them to understand, and when your self fulfilling prophecy comes true, well, "I'm not the type to say I told you so."

The last verse is the sufferer lamenting their loss of life, family, and friends. They resolve to carry their burdens alone, while still blaming them in a way for not being able to save them. "Goodbye for now" is saying that they will stay away until they get better, and they will "wait until the next sunrise." which could just be when the psychosis, and rage subside.

That's just my own interpretation, and it's obviously very different from the others, but I think anyone with a mental illness can relate.

General Comment:Straight from Sonny himself from an MTV interview: "It's more of a laid-back track, it's more of a vibe track, it's definitely not the heavy side of P.O.D., but lyrically it's a hopeful song. . . We know with just dealing with the people around us and just coming across so many people that there are a lot of people struggling out there. And being that positive influence that we like to have in our music, we are just trying to encourage people. No matter how bad today is, tomorrow has a bright promise and a bright future. There's a lyric that says, 'If joy really comes in the morning time/ Then I'm going to sit back and wait until the next sunrise.' And in our faith, we believe that joy does come in the morning time, so just hold on and hang out and tomorrow is a whole different day."

General Comment:I actually think it makes a good "parting ways" song.... Any type of break up, or moving away, etc... People dont like change, so they look for someone to blame.... And when will we sing a new song could be "whats next for us as friends/lovers?" That's my take. I'm actually using it in a tribute video for a friend, thats why I interpret it that way.

General Comment:wow, i'm listening to the song on my Ipod, and just read latinrocker's response, and got a little choked up... it makes sense though. not just a mother, but any lost loved one. and even deeper possibly, anybody think it could mean lost, as in not saved?

General Comment:I think this song is about a girl who is friends with a boy and she likes him. The boy likes her even more and she does not realize it. But by the time she does it's too late. "Goodbye for now, Goodbye for now (so long) When will we sing a new song? A new song". I think this song is truly amazing.

General Comment:Er...I kinda got that maybe he lost someone who was close to him because of his faith. And he desperately wants her 2 see the truth, but that's not something he can make happen.
And so he let's her go, hoping she eventually comes around.

    ...but that's just me.

General Comment:im really sorry about your friends death...
to me this song is very relevant. cuz im in a bad place at the moment. i mean, a very bad place.
im in year 11 at school but i havnt been in yet ... ill explain... last year i missed a lot of prep for gcses and coursework cuz i was admitted to hospital with anorexia. i know what it means by 'the hardest part of holding on is letting it go'... cuz when i lost my 'anorexic identity' i didnt know who i was anymore. i thought i was recovered but 2 days ago i was put on anti psychotics and anti depressants as i was about to commit suicide. i was so close. and i still want to die. but i hold onto this song. 'you can sing until theres no song left...'
i guess im struggling with faith. a lot. i used to believe in a god but im not so sure any more... this song helps tho. its great. but im not sure if i can follow it...
