Lyrics for Bandwitch as interpreted by HazMatador

Bandwitch Lyrics
(Put the little kids in the corner with their face and their eyes in the corner)

My favorite band, is a witch.
Find themselves in poet corners, and they still like to dick.
It’s of course, they’re afraid. It’s a fine, complicate.
You can find, demonstrate. Slip along, demon ways.

My favorite band, is a witch.
Find themselves with perfect mornings, and they still try to live.
The menstration. Pull it surprised a masterbation. A little morning cries
I wish on thievery of corners. Admit the cries I know he’s saying I know he’s saying so tired

They’ll have to put the little kids in the corner with there eyes and face on the floor.
You’re so fucked up now. You’re fucked up now.

Put the little kids in the corner with there eyes and face on the floor.
Put the little kids in the corner with there eyes and face on the floor.

I know you want me to keep on going
You want me to keep on going.

And you know wherever I am..

this song makes me feel a little afraid. i think this sounds so different when compared to other broken social scene songs. this song's aura just reeks of destruction or negativity [to me], and i havent ever felt that before with any of BSS's stuff. i really like it though!

I like how it kind of unravels at the end with all the studio chatter (?). It makes the final lyrics, "And you know wherever I am..", so cool.

I think I'm going to have to take the fellows advice above and get stoned and give this song a listen. Although listening to it with nothing in my system is pretty amazing also.

here are the lyrics according to the official site..

I know this sounds crazy but i think the song is based on, or at least deals with some issues of the movie and legend of "the blair witch project".. the line "they like to put the little kids in the corner with there face and eys on the floor" is a reference to how a legendary serial killer named rustin parr tortured and killed his victims: one child would wait in the corner facing the floor as another was slowly killed. when arrested rustin parr claimed that he was "possesed" by the blair witch or some demon from the forest.. or maybe the song is just a metaphor for how people can blame their actions on being possessed by things like drugs or "demons"

I think this song is about bands in general, being asses and turning their lives into complete shit.
But thats just a theory.

i think it's "pulitzer prize" instead of "pull it surprised."

not sure what kevin means by it though... although I'm now thinking maybe the whole song is from a music journalists view? talking about his favourite band and such?

I've no idea here, I'm just theorising.

I'm fairly certain this song is about Kevin Drew's wife Joey Goldsmith and missing her while on the road. The title of the song refers to the band "Witch", J Mascis's (of Dinosaur Jr. fame) new project. Oh and this song is 100x cooler live.

I doubt it's about his wife because they are separated

his wife (ex?) is a social worker, there are numerous references to kids in disturbing situations.

"sleep alone", "masturbation", "find themselves perfect mourners" both seem to be references to a seperation

the song is obviously about some sort of deep longing("and you know where ever i am, ill come running just to see you again, cause you've got a friend in me"), and i think there enough explicit references to things very similar to his wife that its about her.

i think this sounds a little like sex. all the layering and background vocals and little tiny yelps. kind of builds on itself. yep.

BSS being Canadian and all, the song may have something to do with arcade fire being all into medieval sorcery and all that. "My favorite band is a witch."

Kevin was probably all into them until he found that out and realized that even though their music's good, they're superstitious and pretentious
