Oh my friend don't get caught in yesterday,
All the things we've heard have left and made their way,

Lower your guns even if love turns to spite,
We may find the enemy waiting inside,
Light the candle to see what may unfold,

If you listen to the sound withing your mind,
You may find your answer flowing in the tide,

Say goodbye to your sorrow,
And hello to tomorrow,
Well I hear the fiddlers call,
Say that love is here for all,

So I wrote her a letter,
And I tried to foget her,
Well I don't know id I'll go,
Can you hear the river flow,

Say goodbye to your sorrow,
And hello to tomorrow,
Well I hear the fiddlers call,
Say that love is here for all,

Lower your guns even if love turns to spite,
We may find the enemy waiting inside,
Light the candle to see what may unfold,

Oh my friend I hope your done with yesterday,
All the things we've heard have left and made their way,

Say goodbye to your sorrow,
And hello to tomorrow,
Well I hear the fiddlers call,
Say that love is here for all,

So I wrote her a letter,
And I tried to foget her,
Well I don't know id I'll go,
Can you hear the river flow,

Say goodbye to your sorrow,
And hello to tomorrow,
Well I hear the fiddlers call,
Say that love is here for all,

Lower your guns even if love turns to spite,
We may find the enemy waiting inside,
Light the candle to see what may unfold,

General Comment:This song is about how people often get lost in the past. This song has nothing to do with drugs nor does it directly reference anti-war sentiments. This really does not need interpretation but for those of you who are incapable...

"Oh my friend don't get caught in yesterday,
All the things we've heard have left and made their way,"
(Don't dwell on the past, what's happened is done, and you can't change that.)

"Lower your guns, even if love has turned to spite,
We may find the enemy waiting inside,"
(Put away those differences and problems that have built up, make peace with your enemies or your self.)

"Light the candle to see what may unfold."
Lead the way and make the first move and don't wait on it any longer. Be brave.

"If you listen to the sound within your mind,
You may find your answer flowing in the tide."
(If you put away all your prejudices and really just think of what the right thing is to do you'll know what you have to do.)

"So I wrote her a letter.
And I tried to forget her,"
(Mend a bad relationship if its stirring in the back of your mind.)

If you really think this song is still about drugs... please don't reproduce. God damn.

General Comment:This song is about the drug DMT.. first of all because the name of the song has "...the forest of the gnomes" in it and DMT has a similar effect on a lot of people that gnomes may appear.... and i think what this song basically is is what the gnomes may say to them

General Comment:Actually idk much about wolfmother aside from listening to their music and that they're from australia... But if i had to make a guess i might even say its a political and anti war song possibly saying that as long as you avoid violence regardless of your anger that your pains and sorrows will go away... i dont really know about the shakespear link i never read that play but if its at the end of the battle of evermore than well that would probably refer to the coming of a peaceful time

General Comment:The meaning is kinda like akuna matada (from lion king). Its saying that theres no use dwelling on the past, because you cant change it. But you CAN change the future, so you should put more effort into it than wallowing in self pity.
It would be a good lesson for emos, if any of them listened to Wolfmother....

General Comment:It's about loving instead of hating, and looking to the real enemy, ourselves.
