its a girl he cant shake loose no matter how much he wants too. He find himself constantly talking about her, and its always the same thing.

I've looked around and i think the line is rinse and rinse repeat and it really sounds like that. i can understand it too, rinsing would be him crying to "rinse" the girl out of his life with tears. Some great lyrics here. Or maybe he just likes shampoo.

I can't believe there's only 4 posts onthis song. I actually just found this song thru Pandora but it's a real great song. I love how he sings. I may have to check into more Say Anything songs.

I think this song is about a girl whom he was really in love with for a long time. He had ot let her go, but didn't want to... and is havin problems completely letting go. yeah.. good song though.

i think the song is about a girl getting married to someone else (hence the bride to be part) and it just kills him that the girl he wants or maybe just thinks he wants is getting married. it drives him kind of crazy, so crazy that he needs a psychiatrist and mental help.

i love say anything. max is amazing.

I think he's been with the girl before, and that they broke up for a while but now they're back together and he's paranoid that he's not good enough for her and that she's going to leave him because he doesn't live up to her past (whoa, run on sentence). Hence, when he likes her, it's total revenge...it's revenge because he's with her now, and not the guy that maybe broke them up? Or guys that were with her in the interim? Or it's just revenge against her because she broke up with him but now he's got her back?

So he's paranoid about the time they were apart, and wants to know all about it (where you lay your face at night for all these years). Also, he's paranoid about his abilities as a lover and if he'll live up to those in the past. He wants to marry her but is nervous to ask her and it's a problem that he deals with every day.

So all this paranoia makes him need a psychiatrist and all he talks about is her, week after week. He's afraid that if he doesn't get this under control, he won't be able to afford her love.

it seems simple to me--a boy loves a girl, she's really "put him through the wringer," and he's dealing with some psychological issues, but he wants to prove to the girl that he can love her.

i think the "girl" is a metaphor for drug addiction, and that he feels like his addiction is controlling/using him. he feels helpless, and at the same time, he sees light at the end of the tunnel (i can show you, baby). finally, the man assigned to him is referencing a rehab program.

its a long shot, but i'd hate to believe that all of max's songs are just generic shallw love songs, therefore, i believe in super-deep meanings!

A girl broke his heart, so much so that he needs therapy, until he can get over her, except he forces himself to stop crying over her cuz he can't afford the therapy sessions anymore.

It's about a boy who is desperately and almost obsessively in love with a girl, but he's realized that his obsession is "wrong" in a sense. I also think that they had dated at one point in time, but she ended it and now all he can do is obsess over her and cry. I agree that the "rinse and rinse repeat" means that he cries after he talks about it and then he talks some more.

He desperately tries to get her out of his head, but all he can do is imagine the future they could have had together, where they could have gone, the dream/life that is now almost completely gone. He can't let either the dream or her go...

uhm i don't think "rinse and rinse repeat" means he cries or anything
max is just saying that he does the same thing over and over-he goes to a therapist and just talks about that girl, probably for the whole time

no matter how much he talks about her, she's always on his mind, and he can't help but talk about her all the time

but that's just my opinion :)

The line clearly sticks out in the song Total Revenge. The idea of the lines seem to be visits to a therapist over a girl who he dreams of being with. I don't think it means the girl is getting married more he is just dreaming of her being his bride. Not many people in life haven't lost sleep over a ruined relationship, and its more afterthought of his relationship and how he was no better than anyone else and if he had been, he could still have her.

OK EVERYONE!!! i like what your saying and this can mean different to all but the bottom line is your all saying the same thing. as correct as you all may be, ALOT of songs have dual meanings. expecially with max. think about how it could be about drugs...!!

this is a probatoin officer not a theropist, the rinse and rinse repeat is his failed attempts at becoming sober.
yes it is also about a girl obviously but there is more than that going on in his life!
