Wow, this is an amazing song. It has so much life to it. My only complaint here is the lyrics. Possibly the best song on their new CD but its so disgusting. It makes me feel gross when i listen to it but i cant deny it, its just too good. I woul definatly not even want to be caught listening to it hahaha

Yeah it's a pretty fucked up song, but I don't care if anyone hears me listening to it, because most of the people I know have, shitty taste in music anyways and don't pay attention to the lyrics in my music. Haha.

are you kidding? the lyrics aren't disgusting; it's real and its raw and theres so much passion dripping from the words it's insane. i like how broken social scene has beautiful music but doesn't paint a picture portrait in all their lyrics because life really never roles that way.

I think you guys could be taking the "disgusting" parts too literal, but I could be wrong. Either way, I think this is an amazing song, you can just tell it comes from the heart.

yes we all say how good the song is, but i find it hard to comprehend what the lyrics are about. sometimes i find it similar to the song "cause=time" on their first cd, which was about priests and their relationship with boys. "i got pastures waiting in the woods...i got buried rumors waiting in the woods." but at the end it seems as if he is talking about a girl. but all in all i think this song is about the catholic religion being fake, through the writer of the songs eyes. the lyric "and you all want the lovely music to save your lives

their is no lie to save your life" makes me think that he isnt exactly talk about lovely music, more or less about people thinking that turning catholic, or maybe all of the sudden believing in god will save your life. he is calling this a lie. i think he uses the term "fucking" in the song very loosely, think of it as "believing." if you look at it like this, this song is not disgusting and you shouldnt feel weird listening to it. just think a little...

Since when do people cringe at the word fuck? I'm sure you've said you got "raped by that last Math test" or "fucked up on booze." Same word, maybe less direct meaning but don't shy away just cause it treads more risque waters.

It's amazing and beautiful. It's a lot like Beat Poetry which often had off beat, shocking and "disgusting" imagery to it, but that doesn't change it's also very beautiful.

"The sound of your heart is a god I can trust" is one of the best lines I've heard in a rock song.

i loveeeeeeeeeeee this song. One of the only 9 minute songs I actually want to listen to the whole way through.
Though, I've always thought the line was "you own all the lovely music to save your life." thank god for lyric databases haha.

maybe i'm not reading deep enough into it, but i think it might have to do with a relationship he had with an older man when he was much younger, and then the man dying and his ambivalence towards it? the last portion of the song is fucking amazing, but my favourite part is when the horns sections starts playing in the middle of the song, as well as the verse that preceeds it. there are just so many parts to this song, so many layers and emotions. kevin drew is a mighty talented lyricist, that's for sure. i've seen these guys live twice and they always rock the shit out of this song. it's probably the most amazing thing i've ever had the pleasure of seeing. i don't lie when i say that i'm weak in the knees by the end of this song, its just so amazing and you get so involved with them at their live shows. simply fantastic.

I saw them like 2 hours ago and it was one of the most amazing shows I've been to since july. They played this song at the end and it was so fucking amazing. They were so worth getting lost for.

This song is one of the most inspiring songs I’ve heard in a while. It’s definitely not disgusting, its real. I think words stained on paper like that makes it a powerful song.

not gross at all because i dont think this is literal at all. Fucked me in the ass can easily mean i got screwed over es[ecially when you look at the line after where he basically says "he got screwed, but worked hard and made it better" or something to that effect

I love the irony of this song. I think it's about music; how everyone listens with the hopes it'll change, or even save our lives. But they call it a 'lie', a lover, a fucker, and a ghost. In a song. Music can't really fuck us, save us, change us, but we long for it to keep coming. Either that or the song is about a single, desperate person who turns to music to alleviate the pain.

I think it's about adapting to a life of relative fame, and their relationship with music. The entire second half of the song, gives me the impression that he's singing about music as opposed to an actual girl. But i could be way off base with that
