Come on, come out of the rain
You're not oppressed, you're just too learned
I took the book, I lit the page
Your sabbatical was burning
Sweet, sweet, sweet, sweet fires in the street
Let's sully every stage
Lick my lips, twist my hips
But Contessa
I already did
Some things work
But me, I choose to lose my skin in the dirt
This whiskey priest, he burned the church
To keep his girls alive
Sweet, sweet, sweet, sweet fires in the street
Let's sully every stage we meet
Lick my lips, twist my hips
But Contessa
I already did
Sweet, sweet, sweet, sweet fire in the street
Sweet, sweet, sweet, sweet fire in the street
Sweet, sweet, sweet, sweet fire in the street
Sweet, sweet, sweet, sweet fire in the street
Sweet, sweet, sweet, sweet fire in the street
Sweet, sweet, sweet, sweet fires in the street
Sweet, sweet, sweet, sweet fires in the street
Sweet, sweet, sweet, sweet fires in the street
You're not oppressed, you're just too learned
I took the book, I lit the page
Your sabbatical was burning
Sweet, sweet, sweet, sweet fires in the street
Let's sully every stage
Lick my lips, twist my hips
But Contessa
I already did
Some things work
But me, I choose to lose my skin in the dirt
This whiskey priest, he burned the church
To keep his girls alive
Sweet, sweet, sweet, sweet fires in the street
Let's sully every stage we meet
Lick my lips, twist my hips
But Contessa
I already did
Sweet, sweet, sweet, sweet fire in the street
Sweet, sweet, sweet, sweet fire in the street
Sweet, sweet, sweet, sweet fire in the street
Sweet, sweet, sweet, sweet fire in the street
Sweet, sweet, sweet, sweet fire in the street
Sweet, sweet, sweet, sweet fires in the street
Sweet, sweet, sweet, sweet fires in the street
Sweet, sweet, sweet, sweet fires in the street

But no really, great song. Sorry I can't help more, bt Bejar hardly ever makes sense lyrically. But that's what so damn great about it. Interpretation!
saw them last week and they gave me a new apprecation for this song.
I adore this song. It'll mean everything to me at any moment of my life, such as trying to get back together with an old boyfriend that's worried everything will change because of hind-sight bias, how I burned all my journals because I couldn't take what I was thinking about. I spend a lot of time in theaters and a common theme throughout my life is making out with boys in dressing rooms. Every boy I've kissed I've at some point kissed in a dressing room. It's just an absolutely beautiful song.
Anyway. To me this song is about trying too hard and taking too many risks for something that isn't necessarily worth it.
just like on the mass romantic
contessa-italian for countess
but i love it
