Lyrics for Maybe Misery as interpreted by risefromtheashes

Maybe Misery Lyrics
Can you answer me?
No more time for questioning
My car's outside I want to leave
Don't you think I'm interesting
Well, I'm listening.

Everything's obvious
The way you put your hand on me
The way you talk so easily
The way your lips are glistening
Well, I'm listening.

You get around
You want me
You come around
You need me
But this time around
I won't be back at all

But maybe misery
Is what I need to keep my sanity
And I don't mean if things don't go my way
I'll be pleased to meet you

And maybe yesterday
Was the day that I could get away
Now today I'm stuck in sanity
And I'm pleased to meet you

Right now I think I'm sane,
But I'm really just anxious
To cross that bridge
The subconscious oasis
Where right is right
And wrong is wrong
And you aren't there
To build me up

You get around
You want me
You come around
You need me
This time around
I won't be back at all

Maybe misery
Is what I need to keep my sanity
And I don't mean if things don't go my way
I'll be pleased to meet you (pleased to meet you)

And maybe yesterday
Was the day that I could get away
Now today I'm stuck in sanity
And I've seen it all
I've seen it all
Many times before

Maybe misery
Is what I need to keep my sanity
And I don't mean if things don't go my way
I'll be pleased to meet you

And maybe yesterday
Was the day that I could get away
Now today I'm stuck in sanity
And I've seen it all
I've seen it all
Many times before

Maybe misery (many times before)
is what I need to keep my sanity (many times before)
And I don't mean if things don't go my way (many times before)
I'll be pleased to meet you (many times before)

And maybe yesterday (many times before)
Was the day that I could get away (many times before)
Now today I'm stuck in sanity (many times before)
And I've seen it all
I've seen it all
Many times before

Firstly, I love this song. A lot. Secondly, I can't quite interpret the meaning, but I feel like either he feels as though he's being taunted by a girl who likes him but he is too afraid to make the first move or wants to stay in his misery because it's the comfort he knows, or maybe the girl doesn't actually like him but is pretending to for some reason and he can see through her act?
I don't know, it's a bit on the confusing side just because the lyrics pretty much jump from one thing to another.Nonetheless, I love this song. Great song.A

Ok this song is easy. It's about a person who likes another person and this other person likes him/her whatever we will say it's a he for the sake of argument. So he likes this girl he's having a hard time graping that she likes him but she holds up a strong argument "The way you put your hand on me" such lines are the convincing part. Now getting more into the psychology of love affairs, the guy now knowing the girl likes him is getting more worried about the details such as how she flirts and it's obvious of the other guys intentions "You get around" and he just wants to leave with her be alone etc... My car's outside I want to leave" and it's obvious she has played games with him before "This time around" he wouldn't of said that if this was a new thing so it's also obvious shes not as serious as he is so he decides maybe he is better off without her Maybe misery
Is what I need to keep my sanity" but it always comes back to her "I'll be pleased to meet you " he keeps comming back to her and it just a repetitious
circle

yeah i agree with tye, this is an awesome song, its such a well detailed story. i know how this feels, and its amazing how he identifies the exact feelings, "My car's outside I want to leave,
Don't you think I'm interesting,
Well, I'm listening." really sums up the attitude here. and its like he can't just escape, this person is someone he can't get away from, so next time he just wants it to be like they are strangers "I'll be pleased to meet you". awesome song.

well, when i listened to the song i thought it was a boy a person who keeps playing games with the narrator. i think he's saying they'd be better strangers and he'd rather be misery without her than insane with her.

yup. in the end i think he's tired of her around with his feelings.

anyways. i love this song.

I pretty much agree with fadingyami. This is how I see it: there's a guy and a girl who are having another fight. The guy is ready to leave, the girl tries to make him stay. The guy knows that he'll be miserable without the girl, but leaves anyway, because whatever the girl is doing, is driving him crazy, so leaving is the only way he can stay sane. And yes, this is an awesome song! My fave Quietdrive song.

first off i think this song is absolutely amazing.... definitely one of their bests.

secondly the way i saw this song was that some girl is majorly leading some guy on. the guy is really into her and wants to have a deeper relationship with her and the way she acts toward him shows that shes also into him, but in actuallity its just a game. so the guy keeps getting his hopes up and they keep getting shot down. and every time he finds out hes being lead on he feels this incredible misery and hes sarcastically saying that "maybe misery is what i need to keep my sanity." ive been in a situation like this before and it absolutely sucks. but i just saw this song like this because in the begining he sounds really pissed off at what going on. anyway i dont even really care what the songs about, its still amazing.

I think this song is about a boy who likes a girl, and when they party and stuff she flirts with him and lead him on to believe there relationship will go somewhere, but she only wants him/needs him when its convient for her, but now hes realizing all that, and he wants to leave her, and stop doin' it, or maybe hes been trying to stop [But this time around
I won't be back at all] & [And I don't mean if things don't go my way
I'll be pleased to meet you]

so like if he leaves, he'll be alone, and if he doesnt find someone right away, or something to take the place of her in his life he'll run back to her...

and everyday he feels like he missed his chance to get away... but for now he'll be 'pleased to meet her' ... still want to be with her in there "relationship"

[And maybe yesterday
Was the day that I could get away
Now today I'm stuck in sanity
And I'm pleased to meet you]

but at this moment he KNOWS he shouldnt be with her...
[Right now I think I'm sane,
But I'm really just anxious
To cross that bridge
The subconscious oasis
Where right is right
And wrong is wrong
And you aren't there
To build me up]
and i think this is saying he knows whats going on btwn them is right,

with the 'build me up' .. i think that means when she wants him she builds him up // makes him feel good about himself, only to be let down when he once agian realizes she doesnt honestly care about him, and its not right...

i dont know,... thats just what i think.... i love the beginning... *dont you think im interesting..?* it makes him sound so pathetic/sad/young.. i dont know.. =D

this is at the moment my favorite song! :] so i think its about a guy who likes this girl and at the moment they are having another fight. the guy wants to be with her and she is just playing him. Being with her drives him insane, so he would rather be miserable without her.

Everything's obvious
The way you put your hand on me
The way you talk so easily
The way your lips are glistening
Well, I'm listening.

pretty sure thats about a guy and a girl who are either in a relationship or just hooking up and they both seem to like each other and its obvious to both of them that things are good and there both happy.

and then the rest is about how even though they both are happy together and like each other either he or she keeps screwing the other over and finding someone else. ( more than one time)

You get around
You want me
You come around
You need me
This time around
I won't be back at all

aand at the end he decides that this time he's not gonna go back to her, even if he wants to.

Maybe misery
Is what I need to keep my sanity
And I don't mean if things don't go my way
I'll be pleased to meet you (pleased to meet you)

there he's saying that even though he's miserable, if things dont end up going his way, he still wont go back to her like usual because he's done being screwed over even if he wants to go back to her.

And maybe yesterday
Was the day that I could get away
Now today I'm stuck in sanity
And I've seen it all
I've seen it all
Many times before

there is before another time that he went back to her, he was finally feeling as if he was over her(yesterday), and then she came back cause something happened with the other relationship and she wanted him back and she liked him again and now he's stuck in sanity again because he knows its going to happen again but he can't help but love her so he still goes after it again hoping this time wont be like the last time even though he's seen it happen before.

I feel as though that this song is about how a he likes the girl but she blows him off constantly but she keeps coming back and it's driving him crazy [But this time around
I won't be back at all] and he thinks that maybe it's better without her even though he might hurt him emotionally [Maybe misery
Is what I need to keep my sanity], and they should just be acquaintances [And I don't mean if things don't go my way
I'll be pleased to meet you].

you really have to listen to the chorus. it says

"maybe misery i what i need to keep my sanity"

iterpretation: he's saying to keep sane in life, bad things sometimes need to happen to you.

"and i dont mean if things dont go my way i'll be pleased to meet you"

interpretation: he doesnt mean he's happy when he is miserable"

"and maybe yesterday, was the day that i could get away, not today, im stuck in sanity, and im pleased to meet you"

interpretation: he is saying he could get away, but today he's happy to see you meaning hes miserable being sane.

ALL TOGETHER MORAL: he's saying its miserable to go through life being sane.

pretty much explains my life haha

i relate more so to this singer in this song than the girl he's singing about. "the way your lips are glistening. well i'm listening" is really my favorite part. he's telling her she's beautiful, but she has no right to treat him this way. even if he's miserable without her, he's better off and he knows that. i love quietdrive and their music!! it's ah-mazing.
