Piglet has whiskers but know
It could laugh right off the desk
Laptop computers know it was the fodder
That got them jobs
Featherweight fathers
Know nothing about daughters
And sons be damned
The rest of the buttons are pushing themselves
To an early grave
Partial schemes, pleasure schemes
Business shemes, pleasure swells
We all got jobs
Like our opinions and millions of readers
And they pass, we fall
You'll have a hard time
When you deal with folks like managers
Everybody "Wang Chung" tonight
And I'm given to thoughts of happiness
Do-si-do to the head of the class
And I'm given to thoughts of happiness

General Comment:(I don't like the changes of this site. >:|)

This is one of those Modest Mouse songs that can make total sense to you and express what you breathe, put into words what you feel and see all the time but could never be explained with more words. It's amazing.

General Comment:Relapser, the site is songmeanings.net .. We're supposed to be trying to beat a confession out of it - or at the least our confession out of it.

Anyway from what I gather with the lyrics posted by both championofidiots and ideulogy is that the song has a reminiscence to the feel in the lyrics of Custom Concern. Basically the whole way humans live their lives is destructive to our future selves and to the world. How simple we have it is these days with computers is for starters (Laptops doing our work for us). Fathers who don't know much other than nothing teaching the future generations. Having schemes of how to achieve happiness and pleasure through work/business/corporations/coca cola. Basically how Isaac sees our way of living as destructive. Ideulogy's version even says something about bad insurance.

Summarized, the song in my opinion is about how human civilization, the way in which we live our lives, and how our lives are ran, is bullshit.

Some other songs that follow this sort of lyrical feel by the mouse are: tiny cities, custom concern, mechanical birds.. just to name a few.

General Comment:I don't see how anyone could claim to understand what this song is about when the lyrics aren't even clear. Just listen to it and jam out, quit trying to tie it to a chair and beat a confession out of it.

General Comment:This life is all a big game, and nothing really matters at all, but when we play it right we feel pleasures from our endeavors, but on the other hand, when we play it wrong, we usually get screwed over, thats what it means, so ha

General Comment:Piglet grows wiskers but no he's knocked right off the desk

laptop computers, the windows with wires that got them jobs

Featherweight (southernward?) fathers know nothing 'bout daughters and sons be damned

The rest of the buttons are pushing themselves to an early grave

(?wtf?)Partial schemes pleasure schemes business schemes(?)
pleasures well; we've all got jobs

Voiced our opinions with millions of litres of
    the gas we bought.

My fear of growing up's confirmed
when i deal with folks like bad insurance

    And the sad minds unwind
when they're digging through thoughts of happiness

    I'm the broke heartbreaker
I'm who's giving you thoughts of happiness

    ...

There's me, and my attempt... though it was a challenge getting the last three lines of lyrics, I'm almost certain they're entirley correct. Please comment! Have a good listen and tell me how and why i'm wrong, i enjoy it. ;P

ps. Other than those last three lines, the rest is entirly debatable, and as i didn't spend the same relative amount of time on the lyrics you already "had", I can't say that what i have is any better than what you have already, can I? Thanks for a few good guidlines though.

General Comment:what a happy song! who says mm can't write happy songs. certainly not anybody that's heard this song. it's saying that life is a huge joke. it's not the funniest joke that's ever been cracked, i'll tell you that. it's also not funny because we're IN it. but you should laugh anyway.

General Comment:i think this song has alot to do with the fact that isaac brcok wasnt really able to live a normal childhood and when he wrote this song around age of 20 he was still stuck in different parts of his life

General Comment:I think the line "We all got jobs" pretty much sums up this song.
