So I say goodbye to a town that has ears and eyes
I can hear you whispering as I walk by (as I walk by)
Familiar faces smiling back at me
And I knew this would make them change (Make them change)

The only thing that’s going to bother me
Is that you’ll all call yourselves my friends
Why can’t you look me in the eyes one last time?

The writing’s on the walls
You've read that I’ll be gone
But if you call my name
Just know that I’ll come running
For one more night
To spare with you
This is where I’m meant to be
Please don’t leave me

I’ve read this story a thousand times
And I’ll rewrite them all
You’re meddling in an anger you can’t control
She means the world to me
So hold your serpent tongue
Is a whore’s lies worth dying for?
Trust me, I’m done

The only thing that’s going to bother me
Is that you’ll all call yourselves my friends
Why can’t you look me in the eyes
One last time?

The writing’s on the walls
You read that I’ll be gone
But if you call my name
Just know that I’ll come running
For one more night
To spare with you
This is where I’m meant to be
Please don’t leave me

I walked into your house this morning
I brought the gun from our end table
Your blood was strewn across the walls
They’ll find you on your bathroom floor

I walked into your house this morning
I brought the gun from our end table
Your blood was strewn across the walls
They’ll find you on your bathroom floor
When I’m done

But should I write it all off?
But should I write it all off?

You should have killed me (But should I) when you had the chance
Write it all off?
You should have killed me (But should I) when you had the chance
You should have killed me when you had the chance
You should have killed me when you had the chance

General Comment:In my opinion, this song is about the story of Sid Vicious and Nancy Spungen because of when Jeremy sings,
"I walked into your house this morning
I brought the gun from our end table
Your blood was strewn across the walls
They'll find you on your bathroom floor when I'm done".

    But, that's my own opinion

My Interpretation:I think the song is about a guy who has to go to school or something and all of these people are acting like they're his friends or acting innocent, when they're talking about him behind his back, and he's starting to get tired of it.

General Comment:I thought the verse verse went like:

"So I say goodbye to a town that had years to die"

Now that I'm reading the lyrics, the song became a little lame to me. I thought it was about a guy who just snapped and started killing everyone in the town, for something they did in the past.

    My Interpretation:Okay guys, in general if you're not looking for a deeper meaning, it's about a guy who's girlfriend cheated on him, and before this they get into a really bad arguement, almost to the point of hitting each other, and so begans the song;

    [lyris breakdown]

So I say goodbye to a town that has ears and eyes
I can hear you whispering as I walk by
Familiar faces smiling back at me and I knew
    This would make them change

(This part is about him, and how he's going to leave because all this time his friends and people around him knew she was cheating on him, but never said anything.)

The only thing that's going to bother me
Is that you'll all call yourselves my friends

(Reference to the top breakdown, where all these people are saying that they're going to miss him, and feel sorry for him, they supposedly call themselves his friends but lied to his face.)

Why can't you look me in the eye one last time?

(He can see that they feel ashamed, but still won't tell him what they knew.)

The writings on the wall, you've read that I'll be gone, but if you call my name
Just know that I'll come running, for one more night to spare with you
This is where I'm meant to be, please don't leave me...

(This section is how he left the message that he's gone, and that he's "killed" his ex girlfriend, {it's kind of a "prequel" before the last verse} but still wouldn't mind an other night to spare with her, and when he's like "please don't leave me," it's sort of a sarcastic line to her.)

I've read these stories a thousand times, and Ill rewrite them all
Youre meddling in an anger you cant control
She means the world to me, so hold your serpent tongue
Is a whores lies worth dying for? I'll just take my time

(The first line is about how he's read all these stories about husbands killing their cheating girlfriend, and how he'll be an other story in the verse "I'll rewrite them all." & The rest of the verse is when he's debating on whether he should kill himself and die, in thee verse: "Is a whore's lies worth dying for?...I'll just take my time." the last sentence is him deciding he'll just die whenever he's meant to.)

I walked into your house this morning
I brought the gun from our end table
Your blood was strewn across the walls
They'll find you on your bathroom floor when I'm done
But should I write it all off?

(This is the hight point of the song, when he recalls walking into his cheating girlfriend's house, bringing the gun from their end table, and obviously shooting her, and when he's talking about "writing it all off," he means if he should clean up his fingerprints or just leave the evidence.)

You should have killed me when you had the chance...
(The last line is about him, telling his girlfriend that she should have killed him when she had the chance in the arguement earlier.)

    Hope that helped!(:

General Comment:Personally, I think it goes like this.

"So I say goodbye to a town that has ears and eyes
I can hear you whispering as I walk by
Familiar faces smiling back at me and I knew
    This would make them change"
    - I think everyone is agreed that this is about people who were cocks to him pretending to be his friend. Also I think the first line is about going on the run after committing one or more murders of people from his town and the town knows everything so they will find out soon.

"The only thing that's going to bother me
Is that you'll all call yourselves my friends"
    - The people of the town acting like his friends, but if they knew what he'd done they'd rat him out to the pigs.

"Why can't you look me in the eyes one last time?"
    - I think this could be one of 2 things, where a family member of the murderer comes into play (Perhaps mother) and she can't look him in the eyes knowing what he has done. Secondly, I think it could be another murder he is goign to commit and he is wondering why his victim can't look him in the face, but I think the first is more likely.

"The writings on the wall, you've read that I'll be gone, but if you call my name
Just know that I'll come running, for one more night to spare with you
This is where I'm meant to be, please don't leave me"
    - He has left a message for the mother (Perhaps on the wall cause he couldn't find paper lol) that he'll be gone because he has to get the fuck outta there, but if she needs him he'll come back for her and maybe take her with him.

"I’ve read these stories a thousand times, and now I’ll rewrite them all"
    - He's read about similar things that have happened to other people, but his stories won't be the same, he won't get caught.

"You’re meddling in an anger you can’t control
She means the world to me, so hold your serpent tongue"
    - People of the town are convincing the mother that he is bad news and that he had no reason to commit the murder and to tell them if she knows where he is so they can send him to prison.

"Is a whores lies worth dying for? Trust me I'm done"
    - This seems to be where a little more identity of the victim/victims is mentioned. It could be that he is now thinking of killing himself after killing the girl cause she was the world to him even though their relationship was a lie.

"I walked into your house this morning
I brought the gun from our end table
Your blood was strewn across the walls
They'll find you on your bathroom floor"
    - This is about how that very morning he killed the girl. He brought the gun from him and his girls table drawer and let loose.

"But should I write it all off?"
    - Maybe it is about him basicly writing off his life by doing what he has done or that he is still thinking about killing himself for killing the girl.

"You should have killed me when you had the chance"
    - Perhaps the girl had the chance to kill him before he ended her life and she didn't 'cause she didn't have it in her.

It's pretty much the only explanation so far in which the lines don't COMPLETELY contradict themselves. It could even be that Jeremy just wrote random stuff that was personal to him and put them all in one song haha

General Comment:okay, let me take a stab at this.

I read the first page of comments and the one said that one of the band said it was about "shit talking on the internet" so i'll go with that. Basically about a guy and his girlfriend.

So I say goodbye to a town that has ears and eyes
(goes for the evil look of a town but also leads one to think that everyone in the town is listening and seeing whatever you do.)
I can hear you whispering as I walk by
    (gossip within the town)
Familiar faces smiling back at me and I knew
    (everyone knows everyone)
    This would make them change
(he's about to do something that will change everyone's perspective of him)

The only thing that's going to bother me
Is that you'll all call yourselves my friends
(i take this as when the news reporters come, everyone will say that they were close to him)

Why can't you look me in the eye one last time?
(now that he did the deed, no one will look at him)

The writings on the wall, you've read that I'll be gone,
(he ran away, and she knew he would)
but if you call my name, just know that I'll come running,
(he had to run, but if she called him back, he would come)
for one more night to spare with you This is where I'm meant to be, please don't leave me
(he would come back if only for just one night, it's where he's meant to be, and he doesn't want her to hate him for doing what he did)

Ive read these stories a thousand times, and Ill rewrite them all
(this is where the shit talking on the internet comes into play. people have been smacking his name all around and he's been having to fix all the comments besmirching him)
Youre meddling in an anger you cant control
(someone's pissed him off to an extent that they won't be able to stop him)
She means the world to me, so hold your serpent tongue
(this person was talking smack to him about his girlfriend)
Is a whores lies worth dying for? I'll just take my time
(the person that posted the comment heard it from some whore and now he's going to kill that person for spreading it, but he'll do it right, taking his time)

I walked into your house this morning
(he walked into the guy's house that morning)
I brought the gun from our end table
(he brought a gun that was in his and his girlfriend's end table)
Your blood was strewn across the walls
    (describing the scene)
They'll find you on your bathroom floor when I'm done
    (more description)
But should I write it all off?
(should he just forget about it?)

You should have killed me when you had the chance
(he should have done something to stop him, except that there was nothing he could have done, short of killing him)

General Comment:This song is about Ocala, where they are from. Everyone from that place is fake and two-faced. Every single person is full of fakeness. But there is always something to drag you back to that god awful city.

General Comment:i just want to say that I fucking love this song and this band.

"The writings on the wall, you've read that I'll be gone, but if you call my name
Just know that I'll come running, for one more night to spare with you
This is where I'm meant to be, please don't leave me"

I think this songs about being on tour and how hes missing someone he loves back home and how he will comeback for one night but cant stay there because his place is on tour.

Then a guy starts trash talking the women he loves

"She means the world to me, so hold your serpent tongue
Is a whores lies worth dying for? I'll just take my time"

and she leaves him for the guys whos trash talking so he comes back and kills her

thats just my opinion on what this song is about

General Comment:I like the feel of this song. It's kind of like when there's a mysterious guy (like in that bad movie the stepfather) or something...
You know...And then in the end the killer saying "You should've killed me when you had the chance" and smiling...Idk
