Lyrics for Fall Away as interpreted by Alli-oh!

Fall Away Lyrics
You swear you recall nothing at all
That could make you come back down.
You made up your mind to leave it all behind
Now you're forced to fight it out.

You fall away from your past
But it's following you.

You left something undone
It's now your rerun
It's the one you can't erase.
You should have made it right,
So you wouldn't have to fight
To put a smile back on your face.

You fall away from your past
But it's following you.
You fall away.

Something I've done
That I can't outrun.
Maybe you should wait
Maybe you should run
But there's something you've
Said that can't be undone.

And you fall away from your past
But it's following you.

You fall away
It's following you.

I just see the consequences from running away from life. Your own issues. Your problems. When ultimately just leaving them behind doesn't change that they're there. Things have a way of catching back up with you. Of course that's just what I hear.

i think that he is her past and even though she broke up with him and is running away, he's chasing her. I think he knew that he shouldn't be with her but he went against his better instincts because "something i've done, that i can't outrun"
its cool. I can almost like picture him running after her but he can never get her back. sick song!

He's singing to an addict that can't use drugs to run away anymore.

This song reminds me of a situation with a girl that I left "undone". It's in my past and I can't outrun it.

I don't think this song is saying --given my situation-- that you have to end up with the girl, but rather, just make it right so you don't feel as if you left something undone.

Maybe I should just say hi or something to her and I wont' feel a bad feeling following behind me all the time... that goes for all those girls I never ended up with...

You've done something stupid. You just want to forget about it and move on. You've forgiven yourself, but everyone else remembers it. They remind you of it every day. You can't outrun what you've done. "It's following you."

To me this songs message is that you should do things right the first time so they don't come back and haunt you. And i think the song is about a person who made a mistake and lied about it "You swear you recall nothing at all" and instead of confessing and fixing what he did wrong he tries to forget it aka "You made up your mind to leave it all behind" and then the persons problem caught up to them. i rly like this song because it has a great message for people who make mistakes.

Pantalones,

If you're going to take a quote, you need to take it in context (ie; the entire sentence) so as not to get a distorted view of its meaning. In your analysis, you left out a line that entirely changes the meaning of the preceeding line.

We can agree that this person made a mistake and is having a hard time living it down. However, I don't believe that the lyrics support your statement that he must have lied about it.

The sentence says "You swear your recall nothing at all that could make you come back down." I interpret this to mean, that he (the person who made the mistake) claims to have completely gotten over his mistake, and that he doesn't even remember a thing that could make him come back down (relive or revel in his past sin/mistake). Obviously, the person is in denial about his inability to cope with his past mistakes. But, this doesn't mean that he lied about it his past error.

to me it means no matter how much you move on from your past it will never be erased. sometimes people can't get over your past and you can't do anything about it. sucks but that is often how it is.

Ilove this verse the most "You left something undone
It's now your rerun
It's the one you can't erase.
You should have made it right,
So you wouldn't have to fight
To put a smile back on your face."

Fits with my situation that I place this song to. So true too when you do something wrong that is all you can think of and you try to ignore it but it follows your every thought. Beautiful song.

now in this one your forcing yourself to forget everything and as hard as you try it had to leave naturally "you swear you recall nothing at all...made up your mind to leave all behind" because yu trying to forget your still reminded "you fall away from your pas but its following you"

Hmmm ...
I think this ong is about attempting to move on with your life and getting over things in the past - whether they be positive or negative. No matter how many horrible memoires haunt us or even how many amazing memories we want to cling to ... we have to stay in the present.
But in this song, as the person is trying to get through, the past keeps coming up. Maybe he keeps seeing a person that reminds him of eveything that happened? It's happened to me, I know that much.

i agree with zoo - you've done something stupid and you just can't outrun it... it follows you... forever - you think you're cool with it, but EVERYONE remembers it and you just can't outrun it - love, god, drugs, whatever... it haunts you... forever, no matter what
