Small town homecoming queen
She's a star in this scene
There's no way to deny she's lovely
Perfect skin, perfect hair
Perfumed hearts everywhere
Tell myself that inside she's ugly

Maybe I'm just jealous I can't help but hate her
Secretly I wonder if my boyfriend wants to date her

[Chorus]
She is the prom queen, I'm in the marching band
She is a cheerleader, I'm sitting in the stands
She gets the top bunk, I'm sleeping on the floor
She's Miss America
And I'm just the girl next door

Senior class president
She must be heaven sent
She was never the last one standing
A backseat debutante
Everything that you want
Never too harsh or too demanding

Maybe I'll admit it, I'm a little bitter
Everybody loves her, but I just want to hit herâ?¦

[Chorus]

I don't know why I'm feeling sorry for myself
Spend all my time wishing that I was someone else

[Chorus]

I get a little bit, she gets a little more
She's Miss America
And I'm just the girl next door

General Comment:To paraphrase a werewolf-girl: "What use does it have to be a Cheerleader who jumps around in front of the boys when you can be in the stands flirting with them?"

General Comment:I can totally relate to this! 'Cept I'm not in a marching band(I'd probably play the triangle XP). But, there's a girl in my grade who is literally flawless. She's kind, gorgeous, talented and last years class president. Me? I'm bitter, boring-looking, average and last years total loser. She gets everything. All the boys, all the fame, all the credit. Actually, now that I realize it, about 99% of the girls in my grade are like that. I bet you ten bucks I could count the outcasts on one hand. Let's see, theres me, my friend and my other friend. Me and my friends are imperfect. Were the real deal. I hate boys.

    GO TEAM REJECTS!!!XD

Lyric Correction:I could be slightly off, but towards the end of the song when trying to make out the lyrics sung softly in the background I get:

    Every smile she fakes
    Every heart she breaks
    Everything she takes
    Everything I'll be
    Everything is me
    Everything you see

General Comment:I'm not gonna lie... I've never felt this way. I'm a fairly invisible girl, and I've just never been jealous of the 'miss america' at our school. I actually feel somewhat sorry for her because once she gets out into the real world, she's probably not gonna be considered 'miss perfect' anymore. I personally would rather be alone than with lots of people.

General Comment:Love this. Heard it in JC Penny and fell in love. I can totally relate, ecause there's this girl who's smart and pretty and nice and helpful and perfect and she's pretty much every guy's dream. I'm in the same class as her and although I'm kinda/not really cool in my own way, I look like an idiot next to her. All the guys in there are her friends too, so I look like some whacko whose an idiot when I try and make a joke or say something witty. :( Poor Katherine.

General Comment:Very Relatiable. I love it.
I think its about a girl who is 'at war' with herself, with thinking that 'Ms.Perfect' is so much better than her.
But in all reality, she's better than her. (Ms.Perfect)
    But, that's just my opinion.

General Comment:everyone keeps saying that the miss america is really a bitch or whatever. in my school, our "miss america" is this nice, caring, giving, sweet girl who is the cheer captin, stu co president, and one of the top students grade wise. so i dont really think its about a bitchy girl, i think it's about a girl who is jealous of someone who seems extremely perfect.

General Comment:I like how almost every girl who has been in highschool can relate to this song. I know I can at the moment. Isn't it funny that girls who are the biggest bitches end up being loved by everyone when the nice ones who aren't necessarily 'uglier' than the populars are ignored? My friends and I have gone to the same school as all the populars and still barely any of them know our names. I'm sure people feel similarly.

The song explains itself really. But I'd rather be the girl next door than Miss America.
