So you're born on the cusp
Or it's a run of bad luck
But it's bigger than us
It's bigger than love
And it's underhanded
You never feel it
You never look back
You never look back
You never look back
You never look back
What's in the cart
A CD-R
You never look back
You never look back
And it's bigger than us
It's bigger than love
Oh it must be I know
'Cause it always wins
And it always wins
It always wins
It always wins
It always wins
Or it's a run of bad luck
But it's bigger than us
It's bigger than love
And it's underhanded
You never feel it
You never look back
You never look back
You never look back
You never look back
What's in the cart
A CD-R
You never look back
You never look back
And it's bigger than us
It's bigger than love
Oh it must be I know
'Cause it always wins
And it always wins
It always wins
It always wins
It always wins

5th line is "and its underhanded"
11th line is "those words in the car"
12th line is "the scene in the yard" ("we had a scene in the yard" on a particular live version)
Cheers Amanset for your music :-)
P.S. I have listened to the song a thousand times and I still get chills every time from the third "you never look back"
If we can compare the groud as the sky, so we are definitely the stars.
In English History, there was a huge fashion for astrology a few centuries ago, and the term "Born on the Cusp" was used often to describe someone who was moody or depressive. It was kind of a joke about how the stars were used to explain everything, like illness and stuff like that.
If you think about it in that context, this song would be perfect to describe someone (his girlfriend) who suffered from depression.
Especially the "It's bigger than us, it's bigger than love" part, as you'll know if you've ever been manic depressive. As much as you want to make a relationship work, it's always going to be too hard, because depressed people are completely involved in their depression before anything else.
Also the line "Or it's a run of bad luck" ... you do try to find excuses when your life isn't going the way you planned, because you're too low to help yourself.
And the fifth and sixth lines explain how when you're depressed, you can't ever remember being happy. It just feels like you're in a black hole, and the only thing you can feel is what you're currently going through.
Anyway ... just a theory.
i have a correction though, I'm pretty sure the first first begins:
what's in the car?
a CD-R
since this is a sort of romantic song, CD-R makes sense because it could be a mix CD or something that one lover made for the other.
Great song.
