I got a candle
And I've got a spoon
I live in a hallway with no doors and no rooms
And under a window sill
They all were found
A touch of concrete within the doorway
Without a sound

[Chorus:]
Someone save me if you will
And take away all these pills
And please just save me, if you can
From my blasphemy in my wasteland

How did I get here
And what went wrong
Couldn't handle forgiveness
Now I'm far beyond gone
And I can hardly remember
The look of my own eyes
How could I love this,
My life so dishonest
It made me compromise

[Chorus]

Jump in the water
Jump in with me
Jump on the altar
Lay down with me
My hardest question
To answer is why
Why

[Chorus]

Someone save me [Repeat: x2]
Somebody save me [Repeat: x2]
Please don't erase me

My Interpretation:I got clean from opiate (heroin) addiction on 09/23/2010 after a 17 year battle... When I was actively using, songs like this triggered a switch that instantly made me depressed... The reason is because anyone hopelessly addicted to drugs would hear lyrics like this and know that the song was written from a recovery vantage point... Most recovering addicts know that if a band is drug free, they will make songs that lyrically express feelings from the perspective of both sides of the disease...The day I got clean Shinedown became my favorite band...
On the streets, an addict has to find a place where they can use their drug safely without getting caught...(abandoned buildings, public bathrooms etc etc) This "safe-haven" in that world is called a shooting gallery... This is the hallway that brent speaks of in the beginning where doors and windows that can be used to escape are not visible... In a shooting gallery all you see are people that have just gotten high ... A heroin high produces a euphoric feeling that causes the user to "nod-out..." This is the picture painted showing people nodded out against the wall under the window sill... The reason there are no visible windows or doors to this room is because this type of addiction causes the user to stay in the shooting gallery until they need more... Its so hard to get out of this room that it seems just the smallest tiny obstacle will prevent the user from leaving... Thus, the little bit of concrete that was in the doorway acting like a towering mountainous obstacle that the addict cannot get over...

General Comment:I went and seen Shinedown in concert a few years back, before they became my favorite band, and before they sang this song, they were talking about overcoming addiction and how hard it is. I believe, not sure, but believe the lead singer was saying something about overcoming a heroin addiction. I know myself addiction is one of the toughest battles to fight, and once an addict, even a clean one, you will fight it everyday til the day you die to stay clean. Their songs have become an inspiration to me. I listened to them everynight on my way to sleep while I was in a halfway house and continue to listen to them.....They have some bada$$ lyrics in every song that mean alot if you listen and can relate!

General Comment:It´t right that this song is about loosing it to drugs, BUT it is also about not being afraid to call out for help
and wanting to overcome ones vanities and depressions.
So compared to the song"45"; "Save me" is also a song where HOPE plays an important factor. =)

Song Meaning:You know im not sure what it means directly to them but weather or not they know it. its kinda like a call out to god because the want to be saved from whatever it is they are going through. Because the whole song is not directed to anyone specifically.
And not to even mention the brige part with talking about jumping in the water and on the alter.

General Comment:Definitely their version of the Needle and the Spoon...
I know they get alot of their inspiration from Skynyrd, so it makes sense

General Comment:This is definently a song about drugs. "I got a candle and I got a spoon." He's talking about heroine! It's all about the way drugs trap you and how it often seems there is no escape

General Comment:I think the drug references could also be a metaphor of being trapped or even addicted to something that is bad for you. the water is obviously meaning he wants to be cleansed from all mistakes or his past demons *which could be his wasteland* then the last line, don't erase me could be saying 'don't give up on me yet, I'm trying to get over all of this.' Another spectacular Shinedown song, I adore them so much. (:

General Comment:I didn't read all of the comments, and I'm sure this was said.
I know many people referenced drugs and such.

I think that it's pretty clearly written about heroin. Correct me if I'm wrong, didn't one or more of the band members struggle with a heroin addiction? (I don't know which one.)

Though I think it's about heroin, it can be used metaphorically for many different situations..obviously.
