Lyrics for I'll Believe in Anything as interpreted by FuneralCatering

I'll Believe in Anything Lyrics
Give me your eyes
I need sunshine
Give me your eyes
I need sunshine
Your blood, your bones
Your voice, and your ghost

We've both been very brave
Walk around with both legs
Wait for the scary day
We both pull the tricks out of our sleeves

But I'll believe in anything
And you'll believe in anything
Said I'll believe in anything
And you'll believe in anything

If I could take the fire out from the wire
I'd share a life and you'd share a life
If I could take the fire out from the wire
I'd share a life and you'd share a life
If I could take the fire out from the wire
I'd take you where nobody knows you
And nobody gives a damn
Said nobody knows you
And nobody gives a damn

And I could take another hit for you
And I could take away your trips from you
And I could take away the salt from your eyes
And take away the spitting salt in you
And I could give you my apologies
By handing over my neologies
And I could take away the shaking knees
And I could give you all the olive trees
Oh look at the trees and look at my face
And look at a place far away from here

So give me your eyes
I need sunshine
Give me your eyes
I need sunshine
Your blood, your bones
Your voice, and your ghost

We've both been very brave
Walk around with both legs
Wait for the scary day
We both pull the tricks out of our sleeves

But I'll believe in anything
And you'll believe in anything

If I could take the fire out from the wire
I'd share a life and you'd share a life
If I could take the fire out from the wire
I'd share a life and you'd share a life
If I could take the fire out from the wire
I'd take you where nobody knows you
And nobody gives a damn
I said nobody knows you
And nobody gives a damn

I said nobody knows you
And nobody gives a damn either way
About your blood, your bones
Your voice, and your ghost
Because nobody knows you
And nobody gives a damn either way

And now I'll believe in anything
You'll believe in anything
Because nobody knows you
And nobody gives a damn anyway

this is quite possibly one of the greatest songs in the world, me and my girlfriend are both pretty gullible and she means the world to me and this song always makes me think of her, yes i know thats not a song meaning but damn it, it had to be said

Has anyone here seen the movie Krull? Not only is it really cool sci-fi goodness, but Spencer Krug seems to be obsessed with it (Frog Eyes has a song called "Krull Fire Wedding"). Part of the "Fire Wedding" in Krull involves the woman putting fire into water and the man taking fire out from the water to show that love defies physics (or perhaps to show that love knows no bounds). Anyway, I'd be damned surprised if he didn't have this in mind when he wrote this part of the song. In the movie, there's good reason for him to take her where the dangers of her position (her royal blood even) aren't recognized so that they can just live. I doubt the whole song is about the movie, but he seems to like the symbolism of the "fire wedding". It makes for a fun movie and perhaps my all-time favorite song!!!

I'm not sure if anyone has said this already or not-I didn't read through all of the comments.
I do believe the lyric is "If I could take the fire out of the wire" and I feel like it is a reference to the artist wanting his old love back-maybe she has changed and is not the same, and that particular lyric means "taking the anger out of the veins"

This song is so beautiful! It means exactly what it says!

He's saying "No one knows you, not like me. Nobody gives a damn about you but me."

"We've both been very brave
Walk around with both legs
Wait for the scary day
We both pull the tricks out of our sleeves"
^^this is their life, their relationship

"And I could take another hit for you
And I could take away your trips from you..."

He wants to take everything bad, and give everything good.
It's love, it's beautiful, it's the most amazing song I've ever heard.
My boyfriend and I.. this is our song.

it's poetry

it's beautiful and doesn't need to be explained. but ideas are nice. he compares himself with whomever showing they both are the same, why not be in love? why not go somewhere when nothing matters but you and i? and repeatition is key. it's gorgeousity in the flesh.

Yeah, I can definitely see this as being from the point of view of a recovering drug user. "Fire out of the wire" could be referring to getting all the harmful substances out of your blood.

You could also interpret this as from the point of a person trying to convince the darker side of himself to give way to sunshine. But I interpret this as someone pleading to another person for an escape from all trouble and all of the people who don't care at all about them.

Lyrics-wise, I see a lot of parallels to Radiohead's "True Love Waits" and Arcade Fire's "Crown of Love." The "I'll drown my beliefs" - "I'll believe in anything" and the "Please forgive me"- "I could give you my apologies." Plus, they're all really passionate songs/bands.

From the music video, I can interpret this as a guy who gets infatuated easily. He kills these girls' lovers and then they just find another guy, leaving him all alone.

So overall, I think it's just about loneliness and people not giving a fuck who you are because they don't know you. But it's also about love - wanting to know someone in a way that no one else knows someone, having a special connection with someone.

I still think the line is "And I can take away the drips from you," not "trips." This goes along with the drug addiction motif -- you get the "drips" after you snort cocaine, and, while bearable, they're not pleasant.

Just another thought. Anyone second my motion?

the lines "i'd take you where nobody knows you and nobody gives a damn" sound extremely erotic to me. as if "i'll take you where no one can see us, and no one will think anything about what you do, because no one cares."

it also seems like it could mean that she's a little bit full of herself and he wants to kind of bring her down to earth. "nobody gives a damn" about you.

it also seems like it could be about someone very superficial because he says "and nobody gives a damn about your blood, your bones, your voice and your ghost".

damn this song sounds so sexual to me.

and also, spencer is sexy as hell. it makes it even better the way he sings it to know his face is behind it all.

It feels to me (though probably because of the time during my life when I discovered this song) that it's about being deeply in love with a girl [I could take away the salt from your eyes, etc], and being with the girl, but not being able to get truly close and always taking second priority in her life and the girl generally not having time for the singer.

[I'd take you where nobody knows you and nobody gives a damn either way, about your blood, your bones, your voice, and your ghost] - and all of these things (blood, bones, voice and ghost) are exactly what Krug earlier sings is what HE needs.

[Give me your eyes, I need sunshine, your blood, your bones, your voice, and your ghost]

But it's a struggle to take her away from all of this- hence, [If I could take the fire out from the wire], which brings to my mind trying to grasp some red hot wire thingy while your flesh sizzles. Or possibly just taking the fire and passions out of her life.

I'm not sure if all of this is merely because it's what I want it to mean, though, because it's more relevant to me than a simple, happy love song.

i think it's about wanting to save the person he loves from something, being willing to sacrifice anything for her.

In an interview with Dan Boeckner he talks about how when Spencer Krug writes his music in stories in the eyes of another. This song was written through the eyes of a twelve year old girl.

"If I could take the fire out from the wire" Makes me think of a flame burning down the wick of a stick of dynomite.

Not sure what that means exactly. Maybe he wants to be with her, but he can't because of cernatain circumstances that he can't control.

And I could take away the salt from your eyes
And take away the spitting salt in you

I always thought it was:
And I could take away the salt from your eyes
And take away WHAT'S BEEN ASSAULTING YOU

:(

oh, I love it anyways!

I'm with the "drug addiction" school of thinkers on this one. and also... "spitting salt in you"? what does that even mean. unless it is some street for drugs that i don't know about. To me, it sounds like "what's been assaulting you" which actually means something in the language, and really... that's just plain what it sounds like.

OK, I've loved this song for well over a year and listened to it many times. This time sounded different. Maybe because I've been wading about hip-deep in vampire lore lately (writing project). So, imagine this sung from a vampires POV. I am *not* saying that's what the song is, but just listen to it that way:

Give me your eyes
I need sunshine (Because, obviously, how long has it been?)
...
Your blood ... (Self explanitory)
...
*Fight* the scary day (I always heard that as "Fight the scary day," as it written on other websites. But a "scary day"? Puzzled over that one until this interpretation.)
...
I'd share a life and you'd share a life (Hmmm)
...
I'd take you where nobody knows you
And nobody gives a damn (Hiding, secrecy)

Like I said, 99.9% sure this is not what Wolf Parade had in mind. But, Ionno, kinda fun to think about old songs in new ways.

Don't want to get into it just yet.. but id like to say.. I LOVE THIS SONG. I LOVE WHAT YOU ALL HAVE WRITTEN!! It is important to decide what we feel the song is about, but there is no perfect answer. I like the drug idea, BUT it could also be a metaphor for religion.. as in - "religion as a drug"... so much to think about... Check out HANDSOME FURS if you like WOLF PARADE and SUNSET RUBDOWN... all artists from WOLF PARADE in those other 2 bands..AC

The song is actually written to his sister. How wonderful, nice, beautiul, amazing is that!? It sounds like it could be to someone he loves if you'd like to interpret it that way. He shows he obviously has a great connection to his sister and thats just so cool.
