Everyone's a critic
But hey they really respect your talent
Have your manager call my manager
And we'll make records together
At this level of success of entertainment
There are certain connontations
It's a "You give, we take" relationship
No, the kids wouldn't understand it
Come on now, how long do think this is really gonna last
How long can you hold their attention before they move on to the next band

On the inside
On the inside
On the inside
Do you wanna know how it feels on the inside?
On the inside
On the inside
On the inside
Do you wanna know how it feels on the inside?

We'll coordinate the marketing, label, publicity, touring
Consult the timing, presentation
Go ahead, put this in context
It's three points on production
15% to management
10% to the agent
5% to legal representation
We've got an insurance plan
To stretch the inevitable as far as you can
Gotta make your money while you got the chance
Do whatever it takes to sell it

On the inside
On the inside
On the inside
Do you wanna know how it feels on the inside?
On the inside
On the inside
On the inside
Do you wanna know how it feels on the inside?

Just how desperate can we be?
(Go buy our record and see)
Just how angry can we seem?
(Go buy our record and see)
Just how fucked up can it get?
(Go buy our record and see)
Just how much can we bleed?
We're completely irrelevant on LP and compact disc

On the inside
On the inside
On the inside
Do you wanna know how it feels on the inside?
On the inside
On the inside
On the inside
Do you wanna know how it feels on the inside?

General Comment:I always thought this song was about how it feels to be getting f*cked by the music industry.

"Do you wanna know how it feels on the inside"
I thought this was a reference to how it feels to be in the band and trying to work in this industry, with a subtext of how it feels to be literally f*cked.

General Comment:No joke, I can open up just about any Against Me! song in Songmeanings.net, and it's nothing but an argument about whether the band "sold out".

Look, Most so-called "punks" have no idea what 'selling out' even means. And this has been going on since the 80s. Proof? Any moderately successful band will tell you how much crap they get. EVEN FUGAZI, throughout their band's career, got nothing but absolute nonsense from a good chunk of their fans about how they "sold out". FREAKING FUGAZI, for crying out loud!

Look, when you're in your teens or early 20s, and you're living at your parent's house/college dorms/crappy apartment, it's all fine and dandy to 'make a statement' and not make any money. But for most, people tend to want to go further with their lives. For example, Tom Gable is married now, and has said in interviews that they want to have kids and start a family. Fans forget that this band isn't a hobby for them, it's their career. If you want a family, you're going to want job security, and there's no real telling how long this band's success is going to last. As even said by Against Me themselves, record labels tend to chew bands up and spit them out, and kids' attention spans are so short that bands from just a few years ago are already forgotten. With their obvious talent, there's no reason for them not to make a comfortable living off of the band, while still creating compelling lyrics and great music.

General Comment:i think theyre trying to tell us to stop labeling them as sell-outs, and try to look at the situation from their point of view, they need money, they have lives, and its not fair to judge them as sell-outs

General Comment:I think you guys really lost the message on this album. I mean, these guys have lives and families, you can only do so much against a system such as this global economy. Without being actively involved in it. (Does it make a difference is an example of the bands thoughts on this). See in the case of Anti-Flag selling out to RCA(Iraq war supporter) That is valid, AFI completely ditched old fans.

Against me! made an honest record almost geared like an apology, gave up tons of money to produce records this way, keep concert tickets relatively cheap, merchandise cheap. As well, keep an honest connection to their fans they were scared of losing, and who they obviously care about.

As to the statement about Plan it X records, did it ever occur to you that maybe there are reasons they went to Fat in the first place hmmmm?

Before you dis bands for "selling out", or abandoning their ethics. Educate yourself and take a look at people who have made great change in the world. They were all VERY implicitly involved in the world and it's current place.

Put yourselves in their shoes, much like the backlash the clash got for signing to a major(no one cares anymore either). Would you rather share your art, your joy, and your message with a room of 5000 kids. Or a room with 50 kids. If you want people to leave with awareness and knowledge gained. I too would throw a little bit of myself away, for a greater gain(those other 4950 kids having a chance to rething their lives).

General Comment:this song is definitely about how against me! didn't sell out for the money (the percentages are about how small bands hardly earn anything by switching to larger labels) but instead to spread a broader political message. everyone interprets this album wrong.

General Comment:A song about selling out from the kings of selling out.

Plan-it X can't even press "Crime as forgiven by..." anymore.

"Baby, i'm a reactionary and truely a liberal,
I wrote songs for the movement that i pretended to follow
but when it came time to get some cash i signed away my dignity"

General Comment:Is it just me or has anyone noticed that the intro guitar resembles Franz Ferdinands take me out, and the intro bass line resembles the Bravery's Honest Mistake...this really coincides with the (real) lyrics:The kids just wouldn't understand it.
Come on now, how long do think this is really gonna last?
How long can you hold their attention? How long before they move on to the next band?
and Just how desperate can we be?
Go buy our record and see.
Just how angry can we seem?
Go buy our record and see.
Just how fucked up can it get?
Go buy our record and see.

this really seems to be making an example out of the commericalized music scene and their losso f sincerety and drive for money.
