Lyrics for Do You Want To as interpreted by CrashBangOuch

Do You Want To Lyrics
Oh when I woke up tonight I said I
I'm gonna make somebody love me
I'm gonna make somebody love me
And now I know, now I know, now I know
I know that it's you
You're lucky, lucky
You're so lucky!

Oh well do you, do you do you want to?
Oh well do you, do you do you want to, want to go
Where I've never let you before?
Oh well do you, do you do you want to?
Oh well do you, do you do you want to, want to go
Of what I've never let you before?

Well he's a friend and he's so proud of you
He's a friend and I knew him before you, oh yeah
Well he's a friend and we're so proud of you
You're famous friend well I blew him before you, oh yeah

Oh well do you, do you do you want to?
Oh well do you, do you do you want to, want to go
Where I've never let you before?

Well here we are at the transmission party
I love your friends they're all so arty, oh yeah

Oh when I woke up tonight I said I
I'm gonna make somebody love me
I'm gonna make somebody love me
And now I know, now I know, now I know
I know that it's you
You're lucky, lucky
You're so lucky!

Oh well do you, do you do you want to?
Oh well do you, do you do you want to, want to go
Of what I've never let you before?

Oh lucky lucky
You're so lucky
Lucky lucky
You're so lucky
Lucky lucky
You're so lucky
Lucky lucky
You're so lucky
Lucky lucky
You're so lucky
Oh lucky lucky
You're so lucky
Yeah!

What the heck is this song about? Apart from the 'I'm gonna make somebody love me' stuff. What the heck is with the arty friends and transmisson party?

C'mon people, Franz's has so many gay references in many of their songs, but these ones are pretty loud and clear. To me, it sounds like he's singing to a guy who's wanted to hook up with him for a while ("Do you wanna go where i've never let you before").
The whole "he's a friend and he's so proud of you" is a bit confusing however, my best guess is that he's talking about having a threesome.."he's a friend, and and I blew him before you")
Transmission Party? - best guess is bodily fluid transmissions.
"Your friends are all so arty" - gay men are stereotypically thought of as "arty"

- some of this may be a long shot, but it's the only thing that relativley makes sense to me.
Anyone else have something better?

I thought this was all just stuff Kapranos had heard while clubbing, pieced together and all that. I like the gay idea though, because that's pretty sexy.

I think Franz has done better, so I'm just hoping this doesn't set the tone for the album. I'll make the same comparison I did to Weezer's "Beverly Hills" and that's that this song is pretty good compared to what else is out there, but the band can do even better.

Extremely catchy. The ending "YEAH" reminds me of the old album a lot for some reason.

I might see em live in October!

This song will hook on...I think their lyrics are jus supposed to be fun...the gay interpretation is great, but i think it has a broader meaning for all as well.

Loved it the moment I heard it! It's so bloody catchy, it's great!

As for the lyrics, well all I can say is that Franz Ferdinand are quite good for doing confusing songs and this is a very good example of that. I think it's classic the way that their songs are weird :D

I don't really know what this song means. Probably just random. But I always get the idea of ignorance, but I don't know why...

Its an amazing song! (and even better live!)

Its a load of things Alex heard at a party, which he found funny so he started writing them down and put them into the song.

Its a great song and really makes you want to dance! I'm not sure on the gay references - in Glasgow (where franz was formed) there are loads of art students and arty people - maybe a reference to Glasgow??Got no idea bout rest of the song.

The band where at a party one night, held in an art museum- called the 'Transmission House'. And the lyrics in the song such as "Your famous friend, well I blew him before you" are things Alex Kapranos was told by drunk people at the party and also what people were saying to others.

So there are actually no gay references in this song, just things that were said at a party.

They are referring to the Transmission gallery in Glasgow. There are a lot of openings and parties there. I was an art student in glasgow and have been to parties at the Transmission.

they look super young in the video.

forget all i said earlier...this song is really awesome. it's just more complex, and now i'm really hooked. people say, without knowledge of the song "well do you want to?" all the time, and i just start belting it out.

"oh lucky you're so lucky!"

Franz Ferdinand are the slightly more masculine "gay" band ahead of Scissor Sisters probably. They're so quirky I knew it was bound to happen.

And to the guy who said the "Yeah" at the end of this song reminds him of the first song, Michael ends in exactly the same way.

I think this song isn't that good. This is slightly catchier than their earlier things but they've sacrificed a lot of the lyrical wit.

I hope the new album is much much better.

Oh, and

"Your famous friend, well, I blew him before you, oh yeah."

That line says it all. The Franz are desperately gay. It's in fashion at the moment. I have no problem with it. It's all fun.

well he does look slightly camp and some of the lyrics suggest he's gay (especially in Michael). But he isn't! Not long until the album comes out now!!

"i blew them before you" do you think this could mean that ive done cociane with whomever beforehand rather than performed fellacio- a mention of cociane is also questioned in darts of pleasure

For everyone saying they are gay, they are not. Two are married to women(Nick and Paul), Bob is straight, and one of the songs on the album "Eleanor Put Your Boots Back On" is about Alex's ex-girlfriend. Before the first album was released Alex was also dating a female textile maker.

Now, as for the song, it is what Alex heard at a party in the Transmission Art Gallery, the entire song is about girls offering sex for Alex, so I don't think they are gay. Like "he's a friend and he's so proud of you" would refer to their boyfriends being proud of Alex, and "your famous friend well I blew him before you" could refer to them saying that it's okay if he has sex with them, they have had sex with famous people before, despite the fact that they have boyfriends. I took this from Alex Kapranos himself, he never mentions anybody's names in the song to protect their identities from their boyfriends.

What a nice guy.
