Blame it on the weather, but I'm a mess
And this February darkness has me hating everyone
And I know I need your comfort
but this drama makes me sick
And the longer I lay here I know it's
harder to get up without you

Lose another day here
Lose another year here
I'm with you

Find me something out there
that's making sense
And it's just another trend carefully
hidden in your dress
And the cycles neverending
And the fashions overdone
And the further that I run away
the further I'll come back to shelter

Lose another day here
Lose another year here
I'm with you

You are the fire on my apartment floor
Sixteen stories, I'd rather burn then fall
It isn't fate that took us all by storm
It's just the turn of a card

Lose another day here
Lose another year here
I'm with you

You are the fire on my apartment floor
Sixteen stories, I'd rather burn then fall
It isn't fate that took us all by storm
It's just the turn of a card

Goodbye, old friend
Goodbye, goodnight
I'll move on
You'll call it fate, I'll call it karma
We had our time, it was fun
While it lasted

I'll look back, with honor, and no regrets
I won't be mad, won't feel bad
These memories will never leave me
Don't be sad
'Cause life goes on, life goes on
It's getting too late
Tomorrow, is here

General Comment:To be honest i feel that this song is talking about karma... you know the saying "Karmas a bitch", i think the song is putting karma into the characteristics of a woman

    "And the cycles neverending
    And the fashions overdone
And the further that I run away
the further I'll come back to shelter"

the cycle for karma is never ending, shes either a bitch to you or shes nice to you...

General Comment:No offense to anyone and clearly song lyrics are up to any interpretation but I feel as though people were kind of off with this. I feel like it is pretty straightforward, especially considering similar themes in other similar songs and the experiences that their band members have gone through. First of all it is definitely about a relationship. The beginning of the song sets a scene about the sadness of the narrator that he is without the partner and how even though he desires the relationship to work the drama of it makes him sick. The brilliant "you are the fire.... etc" lyrics are a metaphor as to how he would rather be hurt by this person he wants to be with than stop the relationship. The writer also displays twice that they do not belief in fate saying it was just chance or a turn of a card that caused what happened to them. Unfortunately for them their partner thinks it is fate and he must learn to move on. Basically he is then forced to move on and only keep the good memories and try not to be sad. I am assuming this song is about the singer's fiance leaving him which actually happened.

Song Meaning:I noticed one key detail most the other comments on the song's meaning are missing, which is the title. "Call it Karma" karma originally came from Hinduism. It was your collective good or bad energy from your souls entire existence. If you did good things lived a good life you created good karma and you'd be reborn in a higher "cast" (place in society). The modern world adopts karma as a much more immediate idea; instead of generate karma over lifetimes we do good things hoping for returns in this life. The song is definitely about a guy in a relationship that's ending or just recently ended. The meaning seems mixed by some contradictory statements "It isn't fate that took us all by storm
It's just the turn of a card" which makes it seem like it was just bad luck. But it contradicts the overall theme and the name of the song, which is KARMA. Karma isn't luck or fate its in a way JUST DESERTS. Saying its not fate its karma is saying that it ended not because it was suppose to, but because that's what I had coming to me because of my actions. He is blaming himself in a very discrete way, but if you believe like I do that's what he's saying its a bit more depressing than the song seems on the surface.
Post some replies if you read this I'd like to know how my take sounds!

General Comment:the song is about a couple that is going through a rough time, & the guy is trying to survive the rough patch:
"You are the fire on my apartment floor
Sixteen stories, I'd rather burn then fall"

meaning he's rather fail trying than fail by giving up.
however, in the end it's all just in vain bcuz it still doesn't work out not bcuz it wasn't meant to be but bcuz things led to the break up:
"It isn't fate that took us all by storm
It's just the turn of a card"

    my fav part is:
    "I'll move on
You'll call it fate, I'll call it karma
We had our time, it was fun
    While it lasted"

it's just so real & i'm a huge believer of karma.
what the person is trying to say is that the other person thinks it was NEVER meant to be,
but in his mind it was all a result of actions that they made.

General Comment:I think this song is about moving away. He doesn't want to give her up but he has to leave and she's burning him up, making it even more difficult for him to say goodbye. "Lose another day here. Lose another year here." Where he's at is slowly killing him, leaving him no other way but out, and her "trend" is to be wherever she is and not give up on leaving the "cycle" of the place they are at. He has to go and wishes she would go with him, he'd would "rather burn than fall". He would rather desire her than actually fall into that place with her. But to have loved her but left her than to stay and slowly give his life away in that place. At least, that's what I get out of it...

General Comment:i just broke up with the best boyfriend i ever had, for no reason, except for that he's too old, and he comes over all the time, and were still friends, and its harder and "the longer i lay here, i know it's harder to get up without you" but at the same time i dont think i was good enough for him to begin with, so "call it karma" that i get perfection, and it's still not good enough for me.

Check out my journal, read some of the entries, then reply plz. thanx (unless you dont comment, then F U, jk)

General Comment:This song can mean alot of differnt things, but I'm gonna say that its universal for the most part but suggests
that it could be about a relationship.

Its like, this person you care about continues to hurt you, and even though you know that you need to get away from
them its difficult to do them because they are a long time friend and someone you obviously care about.
Love is blinding you and your suffering because you continue stay in this situation fearing to let go.

and its weird because the whole bridge could be a sarcastic sly against the person, but i really think that its
    ultimately not...

i think that the person who continues to get hurt finally realizes that as hard as it is to let go,,he's not going
to make it harder by being bitter about the situation.
so reflecting on memories and good times they have had he lets it go with "honor and no regrets"

but at the same time its saying karma is going to come back around and your going to have to live with what you did

Great Great lyrics, and so relateable (sp)

General Comment:im going to have to disagree with most of you, i all of a sudden just got it when i was listening to it today.

And I know I need your comfort
but this drama makes me sick
And the longer I lay here I know it's
harder to get up without you

    Lose another day here
    Lose another year here
    I'm with you

he is with a girl and he loves her to death, but the relationship is full of drama and he cant take it because he knows its not meant to be. He says that the longer they stay together the harder it is to break up. when he says lose another day/year Im with you, it means that every day or year he stays with her is just a waist cause its not meant to be.

You are the fire on my apartment floor
Sixteen stories, I'd rather burn then fall
It isn't fate that took us all by storm
It's just the turn of a card

She is the fire on his floor and he knows that if he stays he will die, but he isnt willing to jump out of his comfort zone and move on. then he says that its not meant to be it was all chance, not fate just the turn of a card

    Goodbye, old friend
    Goodbye, goodnight
    I'll move on
You'll call it fate, I'll call it karma
We had our time, it was fun
    While it lasted

Letting her know that its over, and that its just not meant to be. trying to end it nicely

I'll look back, with honor, and no regrets
    I won't be mad, won't feel bad
These memories will never leave me
    Don't be sad
'Cause life goes on, life goes on
    It's getting too late
    Tomorrow, is here

It was good while it lasted, and ill go graciously, no anger or regrets and he will always remember the good times. Life goes on and we need to keep on going, tomorrow is here its a new day and we must move on with the rest of our lives

thats what i feel its saying. He is breaking up with her and he is just giving her reasons to why and that reason meaning that they just werent meant to be

General Comment:Two people in some sort of relationship. (Father son, mother daughter, boyfriend girlfriend it doesent matter, but ill use boyrfriend and girlfriend since thats just so "cliche")

Allright so a couple are deeply in love...They feel so much for one another...But it seems impossible to stop the fighting. So being with this girl/guy causes alot of "drama" and it has them "sick" feeling like a "mess". So the guy/girl decides to end the relationship before either one causes any more damage, or wastes any more time knowing that there not getting anywhere, because neither will ever change...

Hence the "Lose another day here, Lose another year here, Im with you."

Yeah they know each day apart its harder to get up and live without each other, but its for the best.

Hence the "And the longer I lay here, I know its harder to get up without you."

**I'll look back, with honor, and no regrets
    I won't be mad, won't feel bad
These memories will never leave me
    Don't be sad
'Cause life goes on, life goes on
    It's getting too late
    Tomorrow, is here **

And the end of the song is sort of like a commenmoration of their times spent together and a reminder that neither should dwell on it and that both of them should move on.

One feels like its fate the other feels like its just their karma.

(im really tired or else I would of made this so much more complex and covered alot more of the lyrics so yeah)
