In two more years, my sweetheart, we will see another view
Such longing for the past for such completion
What was once golden has now turned a shade of grey
I've become crueler in your presence

They say: 'Be brave, there's a right way and a wrong way'
This pain won't last for ever, this pain won't last for ever

Two more years, there's only two more years
Two more years, there's only two more years
Two more years so hold on
Two more years, there's only two more years
Two more years, there's only two more years
Two more years so hold on

You've cried enough this lifetime, my beloved polar bear
Tears to fill a sea to drown a beacon
To start anew all over, remove those scars from your arms
To start anew all over more enlightened

I know, my love, this is not the only story you can tell
This pain won't last for ever, this pain won't last for ever

Two more years, there's only two more years
Two more years, there's only two more years
Two more years so hold on
Two more years, there's only two more years
Two more years, there's only two more years
Two more years so hold on

You don't need to find answers for questions never asked of you
You don't need to find answers
You don't need to find answers for questions never asked of you
You don't need to find answers

(dead weights and balloons)
(drag me to you)
(dead weights and balloons)
(drag me to you)
I've become crueler since I met you
(dead weights and balloons)
I've become rougher, this world is killing me

You don't need to find answers for questions never asked of you
You don't need to find answers
You don't need to find answers for questions never asked of you
You don't need to find answers

General Comment:I have loved this song for years but could never understand what they were getting at. I now believe it to be about recovery from addiction.
Treatment centres that teach a 12 step program (that of Alcoholics Anonymous) strongly advise to wait 2 years after beginning recovery before taking any major life descisions eg relationships. There are many reasons for this that I wont go into.
'..we will see another view' refers to seeing things very differently after this time if the program has been followed. The next few lines may refer to looking back at how the addiction started off as enjoyable but turned bad, ' I've become crueler in your presence' meaning its taken control and has led to many lies and cruel acts.

'Be brave ........... wont last forever' relates to the program as you have to be brave. Drugs are obviously the wrong way, living life the right way and living the right way leads to recovery where the pain faids away.

Crying and tears are part and parcel of addiction, but in time the 'scars' on your arms will disappear. Starting anew and being 'enlightened' to me means embarking on a life of recovery. He has become rougher in his addiction and the world he is living in is killing him.

All addicts have a lot of secrets that they are very ashamed about and tell no-one... 'bury them in the garden'.'This is not the only story you can tell' to me means that he knows there is more to his life than the continual hell of drug use addiction.

This is just my take on what the song is about and what it now means to me. Cheers.

My Interpretation:I think this song is about long-distance relationships. I am overseas at the moment and my bf is at home, so this is my theme song while I am here. To me, its like 2 more years until i come home, we will both have changed (new view) but we will still be together. I think the part about answers for questions never asked of you is about one party feeling guilty or worrying about the other not trusting them. He is reassuring his partner that he trusts her/him and she doesnt have to prove it. To me, anyway :-)

Wither way, i love this song! Very emotional.

General Comment:Also, the line "You've cried enough this lifetime, my beloved polar bear" makes an interesting connection to something Fyodor Dostoyevsky (A Russian author and philosophor) said.

“Try to pose for yourself this task: not to think of a polar bear, and you will see that the cursed thing will come to mind every minute.”

What this means is, that when you try not to think of something, you think about it even more.

So, when Kele calls her "His beloved polar bear" he could be saying that he tries not to think of her, but in doing so, thinks about her more than ever.

General Comment:Not sure if it's been said already, but two years is supposedly how long it takes to get over a serious relationship, give a tack a bit. Which is where the title and chorus comes from.

General Comment:Alot of people say its relationship problemes and i think that is part of it but also i think a distroyed girl due to her famly and she is only 16 and needs to leave her house because she has alot of problems and in two years she will be18 and can leave home with her boyfriend so he is saying dont kill yourself and stop cutting and such

    that is my inturputation

General Comment:Well Kele is gay, so it's not about a girlfriend.

I think he's anticipating how long it's going to take for the pain of the breakup to pass. Perhaps it's proportionate to how long they were together.

I think at the end when he says 'we could never make this love last' and 'the only love we know is love for ourselves' along with the line toward the middle: 'I know, my love, this is not the only story you can tell', sounds to me like he knows they've been hurt before and they'll be hurt again and that romantic love is uncertain. the only love you can be sure about is the love for yourself. and that love will get you through the pain of being alone.

everyone can relate a little though hey?
good songs are like that. i think he wrote it a little elusively that way on purpose, so that it could be open to interpretation. ie. long distance relationships, heterosexual and homosexual relationships...

General Comment:That's a really shit comment, it's not ambiguous enough to mean more than one thing.

Kele is a homosexual, and, with that in mind consider this being about him being 'in the closet' and not telling his parents - 'we tell lies to our parents who hide in their rooms...', having a boyfriend that he can't show to them - 'we cover our lies with handshakes and smiles...'. Consider also the use of gay slang 'polar bear', talked about earlier, it's about being secretive in a love relationship that is not likely to be accepted by other people around him. I think 'of course we could never make this love last' is about not being able to keep a secret relationship going and not breaking up because he says '...so hold on', but asking his older partner to wait for him perhaps to move out and be able to be with him properly.

    There's my two cents

General Comment:I think it means a lot of things. It's my belief Kele let you interpret this song as you want. No right answer, no wrong answer. Sometimes, to me, it means somebody is off at war, and two more years 'till he comes back, see? Other times, it means that I'll meet who I'm looking for in 2 more years. 24 Months. Conceited? Somewhat. Hopeful? Yes.
