A swimming pool with no bodies,
Is a problem that we can fix,
Dropped his clothes on the chaise lounge and asked,
'Are you gonna come in?'
And in the night, the only light was the glow of the surface,
As they slid in, the rest of them, continued their talking,
And drinking,
They'll never notice us,
So this is the difference between,
Living and not living,
These are just bodies,
We have a purpose,
And the gravity,
Pulling us, from them, to we.
The Distance between our bodies,
Is a problem that we can fix,
They moved slow through the current and found,
Their bodies touching,
Her hands moved to pull him under,
For some kind of kiss,
As he slides in, the rest of them, continue their talking,
And drinkin'.
So this is the difference between,
Living and not living,
These are just bodies,
We have a purpose,
And the gravity,
Pulling us, from them, to we.
Is a problem that we can fix,
Dropped his clothes on the chaise lounge and asked,
'Are you gonna come in?'
And in the night, the only light was the glow of the surface,
As they slid in, the rest of them, continued their talking,
And drinking,
They'll never notice us,
So this is the difference between,
Living and not living,
These are just bodies,
We have a purpose,
And the gravity,
Pulling us, from them, to we.
The Distance between our bodies,
Is a problem that we can fix,
They moved slow through the current and found,
Their bodies touching,

As he slides in, the rest of them, continue their talking,

So this is the difference between,

We have a purpose,
And the gravity,
Pulling us, from them, to we.

i had thought how it was about people drinking all the time to be part of the crowd are not really living, just doing as everybody else does (from them to we), being pulled in by peer/societal pressure and temptation...
might've overanalyzed a bit
"Dropped his clothes..."
"Their bodies touching,
Her hands moved to pull him under,
For some kind of kiss,
As he slides in..."
The last bit obviously referring to a certain part of his body.
I just wanted to clear it up for a few people that didn't fully understand it :)
Sure, it could be about sex... but I've always pictured that he is simply "sliding in" for the kiss that was mentioned on the line before. Also could just mean "sliding in" to the water as she pulled him under. It's not a question of fully understanding it--it's a question of which way you'd like to interpret it, and any interpretation you like best is fine.
It's just all about good times :)
I love it.
'Are you gonna come in?'" I doubt they're just innocently swimming around in the pool. Naked.
such great lyrics, and such a talented band.
Hot
I love the out of time guitars at the end.
