Eleven five ninety four, six thirty morning
Woke up panicked, sweating, with a mouth full of vomit
No idea what could be wrong
Blew it off as this illness is common
Went back to sleep, then the phone rings
Fell to the ground
As the news was haunting, haunting
Lazarus ended his life, ungodly sacrifice, no reason why
Eleven eight ninety four six thirty evening
The first time we're seeing Lazarus unconscious
Dressed in the clothes he loved
Laid out with all of his favorites
The tears of so many friends
Look around, and this view was haunting, haunting
Lazarus ended his life, ungodly sacrifice, no reason why
Never had an explanation
Never had a chance to thank him
Never had a chance to watch Lazarus rise
Never had a chance to thank him
Never had an explanation
Never had a chance to say goodbye
Lazarus ended his life, ungodly sacrifice, no reason why
Never had a chance to say goodbye
Woke up panicked, sweating, with a mouth full of vomit
No idea what could be wrong
Blew it off as this illness is common
Went back to sleep, then the phone rings
Fell to the ground
As the news was haunting, haunting
Lazarus ended his life, ungodly sacrifice, no reason why

The exert from the interviews:
The album's closer is the epic, dynamic mindfuck called "Lazarus." It's the "most roller coaster track. It's not about the Biblical character, but a friend who committed suicide 11 years ago. It's the most personal song I've ever written, and I got it out of my system," Hunter says, admitting he envisions kids listening to the song on headphones, to fully absorb it.

I do think this is definitly supposed to be related to the Bible, itd be to much of a coincedence, and no ones named Lazarus. He's just wishing he could see Lazarus (his buddy) again. Really cool song really powerful. and halfpunkhalfjock, i nkow what your talking about, i kind of think of a desert as well. Like at night time in like...Israel....lol
the lyrics are so great...
it's really terrible, when you didn't say goodbye to a man who is dead now...
