Waiting by the telephone,
Breathing through a giant rubber hose.
God only knows
Photographs of you and me,
Pictures of the friends,
You used to know,
Where did they go?

[Chorus]
Don't take my picture down
Don't erase everything that we had.
Don't think I'd let you down
I might be gone, but we'll meet again
Can't find you
So I'll call your name

Riding on the satellite
Sun faded and sweaty, but that's all right,
'Cause I'm still alive
I'm stranded in this memory,
Your mouth is wide open, you can't scream
Oh you can't scream

[Chorus]

Please pick up the phone,
Please pick up the phone,
Please pick up the phone,
Please pick up the phone,
I wanted you to know,
I wanted you to know,
I wanted you to know,
I wanted you to know.

[Chorus]

General Comment:this song to me is talking about someone on their death bed, and not wanting their friends/family to lose the memory of them...

"And don't take my picture down
And don't erase everything that we had

General Comment:"Anyone know what 'Giant rubber hose' is a reference to?"

I get the impression this song is about someone on their deathbed. The rubber hose is part of some kind of oxygen set-up. Although in real life they aren't that big, perhaps this hose has become such a prominent part of this person's perspective that they consider it "giant".

This song is actually damned great, I loved it.. I can relate to it so much.. Meh...

Their newest album is pretty great :p Songs like Boy and The World On A String are their worst ones on the album, I think, though.. :p

    Good show OLP..
