I have seen
Too many sad eyes look at me
The eyes that set me free,
All the places that I've been.

So thank you for the letters that
You thought you wrote in vain
And for the times you chose
To stand out in the rain
And wait for me
For me

Your words, your words help me to see
A little honesty, in a world that doesn't share.
And your eyes tell the story of your pain
Severity of your disdain, in a world that doesn't care.

You, you understand my pain,
From this I gather strength
In that we are the same.

So thank you for the letters that
You thought you wrote in vain
And for the times you chose
To stand out in the rain
And wait for me
For me.
The life I live would never be the same without you here

General Comment:We all should know what this song is about, but I just have to comment on my favorite part... the second verse:

    "Your words
Your words help me to see
    A little honesty
In a world that doesn't share
    And your eyes
Tell the story of your pain
    Severity of your disdain
In a world that doesn't care"

He says, "your words help me to see"... and, "your eyes tell a story..."
Technically, eyes help you see, and words tell a story. I've just always loved how he put that together.
    Aaron Lewis is the shit!!!!!!!!!!!!

General Comment:This is the perfect "Thankyou" to all the Staind fans out there. That's exactly what the song is about - the fans who thought they were writing in vain, the fans that truly relate to the music. It's one big reply to all those letters, all the e-mails, everything. I think it also says that they feel very close to their fans because in many cases, their fans can relate 100% to what they're playing about.

This song never fails to make me feel VERY proud and happy to be a Staind fan. :)

General Comment:When I hear this song I think about this girl I was "talking" too.
"Thanks for the letters you thought you wrote to me" but it turns out I'm not the guy she loves.
The life I live will never be the same/without you here. That's just me though.

General Comment:I think this is a song that Aaron wrote for his wife and daughters. He's thanking them for always being there no matter how difficult he's made it for them.

General Comment:I recently saw Staind live and before they played 'Reply', Aaron told the crowd that it was written because many people write to him and he's not able to write back to most of them. He wrote this song to acknowledge those fans and to know that he appreciates the letters they send him and the dedication they show.

General Comment:I rate Aaron should have used 'sodality' or 'temerity' instead of 'severity'. They have more impact.

Awesome song though. One of his best.

General Comment:I love this song. Makes me cry almost every time I hear it.. of course most Staind songs make me cry every time I hear them :| Two small corrections to the posted lyrics, however..

    Your words
Your words help me to see
    A little honesty
In a world that doesn't share
    And your eyes
Tell the story of your pain
    SEVERITY of your disdain
In a world that doesn't care

    and in the chorus..

    So thank you for
The letters that you thought you wrote in vain
    and for
The times you chose to stand out in the rain
    And wait
