Lyrics for supernatural as interpreted by thesimpleways

supernatural Lyrics
her headaches are constant increasing in pain
each passing day
she cant even manage to stand on her own its gotten so bad

you think in saying theres no use in praying
but still she bows her head
so she can say
thank you for just one more day

supernatual patience
graces her face
and her voice never raises
all because, of a love, never let go of

he has every reason to throw up his fists in the face of his God who let his mother die
through all the prayers and tears, she still passed in pain anyway

you think in saying theres no use in praying
but still he bows his head
so he can say
thank you for ending her pain

supernatural patience
graces his face
and his voice never raises
all because of a love never let go of
never let go of

It seems to me about being frustrated with God, and Him just begging us to be patient. Anyone else got different thoughts? =\ Amazing song btw.

Yeah this song is great.
I think that song shows that God has plan in every action He does, that we can always find something good in His deeds even though they seem pointless.

Well to me the song is about a Son and his mother suffering she is dying from something and eventually she dies and he blames god for her death and he kinda gives up on god but in the end he realises that god is just teaching him what love really means

This song is amazing... it reminds me of my grandfather...I had prayed for his healing... so often for six years...and one day I prayed that either he be healed or taken away to heaven....and a few months later he was gone...and I was mad at God because that wasnt the answer I wanted....and then I realized it was for the best....I stopped being angry... though it was only for a short while..a day or so....ever since then I've been patient with my prayers....waiting and watching....

I love this song.

I think it's about a mother who is suffering from some type of fatal illness. (I'm guessing brain cancer because the song states "her headaches are constant increasing in pain.") And even though most people believe that God had did her wrong, she still prays and thanks Him for everything He had given her. But she still dies.
Her son is furious at first because she was dedicated to God, and yet she still passed. But then he realizes that his mother's death was for the best because she was put out of her suffering.

But, that's only what I think.

I believe the song is about a mother who had some type of illness that eventually killed her and even though her life was painful, she still was thankful for God giving her another day to love life and those involved in it. Once she passed, her son had right and reason to be angry at God for taking her, but he wasn't. Instead he was thankful that God ended her suffering.

The lyrics are actually:

Her headaches
Constant, increasing in pain
With each passing day
She can’t even manage to stand on her own
It's gotten so bad

Now you think of saying
There’s no use in praying
Still, she bows her head
So she can say
Thank you for just one more day

Supernatural patience
Graces her face
And her voice never raises
It’s all because, of a love
She never let go of
Never let go of

He has every reason to throw up his fist
In the face of his God who let his mother die
Through all the prayers and tears
She still passed in pain anyway

Now you think of saying there’s no use in praying
And still, he bows his head
So he can say
Thank you for ending her pain

Supernatural patience
Graces his face
And his voice never raises
It’s all because of a love
He never let go of
Never let go of

He is teaching me
What love really means

Supernatural patience
Graces his face
And his voice never raises
It’s all because of a love
He never let go of

Yes, it’s supernatural patience
Graces his face
And his voice never raises
It’s all because of a love
He never let go of
Never let go of

He is teaching me
What love really means

What im thinking is that a man and a woman undergo the same pain while losing a loved one and in the same situation of losing faith in god because of the loss, yet finding in the end to hold on and dont lose faith, because they have eachother and god has his plan for everyone, and somehow, the loss had brought them a little closer to god in the end, showing them that especially when they're gone, how much you truly love them.

It's about dealing with pain, and how a lot of people say "if there was a God, why would He let this happen?"

Through the suffering of these people in the song -- a son who lost his mother, and a woman who is indefinitely bedridded-- other people can see a "peace that surpasses all understanding." God comforts those who mourn, even when life is confusing, chatic and painful.

I think the 1st and 2nd verses are about a woman who's dying and then her husband or son being mad at God. Then, the last few verses are JUST about God.
"Yes, it's supernatural patience
Graces his face
And his voice never raises
It's all b/c of a love never let go of
Never let go of

He is teaching me
What love really means"

See what I mean???!!! But that's just me.

"Now you think of saying
There's no use in praying
Still, she bows her head
So she can say
Thank you for just one more day"

And I like the part that's just like that one, only with the guy.

I can't believe how amazing Lacey sounds acoustically. This song is great. One of favorite songs of ALL time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't think the song is about her son being angry.

"he has every reason to throw up his fists in the face of his God who let his mother die
through all the prayers and tears, she still passed in pain anyway

you think in saying theres no use in praying
but still he bows his head
so he can say
thank you for ending her pain"

To me, that means he had every right to be angry at God for what God "did" to his mother. But he wasn't angry. He prayed to God and thanked him for taking her to heaven and taking away her terrible pain. I think thats what the two situations were about. Any other person would have been angry with God because he or she would have concentrated on their hardships instead of overcoming them.

I have to agree also with what Bloodredblizzard said about why God let's these things happen.

Death and hardships have confused me for years. I always wandered why God would let it happen. Why He chose that person who was so full of love and care. The first time I listened to this song it just suddnely all made sense.
I just found out my grandma has cancer. She's not my mom's biological mom, she adopted her. But she was the woman who raised her, loved her, and gave her her faith. If my grandma hadn't adopted her my mom wouldn't have been a christian and I wouldn't have been here today.
When I was little I asked my mom if she was upset that her real mom had gotten rid of her and she said no (after correcting me and saying grandma was her real mom. Her other "mom" was her biological mom) because she loved me and her other children, my dad, her parents, and God. I didn't understand then but now that we found out my grandma has cancer and have seen my mom cry because of it I do understand.
This song has given me so much comfort through this time. I'm still sad that my grandma doesn't have much time left with us but I know she's going to heaven and I'll see her again. I know God has a reason for this. Right now I'm praying "Thank-you for giving her just one more day" and when she passes away I will be praying "Thank-you for ending her pain."
I have many friends who do not share my beliefs and I pray for them everyday. Many say they can't believe in a God when there's so much pain everywhere. They should really listen to this song.
Psssh! I won't be surprised when people tell me there's no use in praying once things start getting worse with my grandma. But I won't let them stop me.
I love you grandma!
Thanks Flyleaf for once again another amazing song that helps me with my life so much.

Just going to add that I don't think the son is mad. I think other people are telling him that he has a reason to get mad and that he should give up on God but instead he prays. He doesn't give up.

^^^^ I'm sorry about your Grandpa pinkismythang. I'll be praying. :)

This song is absolutely gorgeous.

I don't think the son is mad. That's proven in the line, "Thank you for ending her pain."

I think the people around him are angry or sad, but God is teaching him love and showing him everything happens for a reason, even if it starts with pain.

Thus the line, "He is teaching me what love really means."

Its like being sung to a person who trys to force non-belief onto Christians, throught the use of sad vignettes of these people lives.
Beautiful song.

this is just a lil story..
th emother dies out every day in pain and the son just watches..but true love and faith to God make her thank Him that she s alive one more day..
and then she dies and her son could just hate God for letin her die in pain but he has real love and faith so he thanks Him for endin her pain...
that's what love means..not fairytales with boys and girls kissin while stars are fallin...

I think this song is talking about 2 different people..its talking about how they are both going through something...and when people look at them they think there is no use God has left them but they have this supernatural patience that God has given them that they can wait on Him and trust Him with everything...and its like the person singing this song is looking at them and admiring their trust in God...and when it starts saying he is teaching me what love really means...its saying that God is teaching them the same thing He taught them...He is developing their relationship with Him.

It's about a girl who's father abuses her because his wife died hence he takes his frustration out on her. Both the child and the father is going through an emotional time and wishes to get through it.

This is an amazing song. It is a song about receiving a trial in life and learning to cope with it. The song demonstrates this by telling a story about a son and his mother. "And her voice never raises", although she is in pain, she doesn't let it bother her. The song is about believing and learning to pray. Prayer heals in so many ways, and it's up to you to learn how to interpret how God answers your prayers. :)
