Hey Mr. Curiosity
Is it true what they've been saying about you
Well are you killing me
You took care of the cat already
And for those who think it's heavy
Is it the truth
Or is it only gossip
Call it mystery or anything
Oh just as long as you call me
I sent the message on did you get it when I left it
Said well this catastrophic event
It wasn't meant to mean no harm
But to think there's nothing wrong is a problem, oh

I'm looking for love this time
Sounding hopeful but it's making me cry
(Trying not to ask why)
This love is a mystery
Mr. Curious

Come back to me
I'm a Mr. waiting on and never patient can't you see
That I'm the same the way you left me, left me
In a hurry to spell check me
Now I'm underlined already in envy green
And pencil red
And I've forgotten what you've said
Will you stop working for the dead and return
A Mr. Curious well I need some inspiration
It's my birthday and I cannot find no cause for celebration
The scenario is grave but I'll be braver when you save me
From this situation laden with hearsay, oh

I'm looking for love this time
Sounding hopeful but it's making me cry
(Trying not to ask why)
This love is a mystery
Mr. Curiosity
Hey Mr. please
Do come and find me, oh
Oh, come on oh, yea yea

I'm looking for love this time
Sounding hopeful but it's making me cry
(Trying not to ask why)
Cause love is a mystery
Mr. Curiosity
Hey Mr. please
Do come and find me

Love is blinding when your timing's never right
Oh but who am I to beg for difference
Finding love in a distant instant
But I don't mind
Oh love at least I tried, well I tried

General Comment:I personally like to think of this song as more of a prayer. Think about it: "Oh who am I to beg for difference? Finding love in just an instant. Well I dont mind, at least I've tried. And I tried, I tried..." It's basically Jason asking God to send him someone to love. In many parts, he is saying sorry for forgetting the blessings he already has, but he can't stop hoping for love.

General Comment:This song is incredable. I love the opera. It shows how versitile he is.
I love to listen to this song when I drive and turn it up really loud.

General Comment:This song is about bisexuality. Mraz has fooled around with another man and ends up having unexpected feelings for him. This has thrown off his sexual identity. It is debateable that his promiscuity with women has been due to his innate homosexuality.

And THEN he sings in a falsetto....

    hmm...

General Comment:I never knew he could sing the way he sings in this song....
his voice is one of the greatest and most beautiful I've heard from a guy.

But this song, kind depresses me...I can even relate on what the song says...especially on the "birthday" part, it happened to me many times.

General Comment:during the end when he's like
    "at least i tried...well i tried"
he sings that part with so much emotion
that is my favorite line in the whole song
it hits me in my heart and i feel for him so much
it's him saying that although he didnt reach his goal or whatever else you want to interpret it as, at least he gave it a shot and tried
    this song is amazing

General Comment:This is my FAVORITE song off Jason's Mr. A-Z album mainly because f its melancholy melody and deep lyrics. It's so full of emotion ... and yes, it came at just the right time.

Obviously, this song is about depression and helplessness. Curiosity is the one that keeps the subject interested in a certain thing. And it's an irony that he is talking to "Mr. Curiosity," the one that keeps ones interest going and yet, because of the intrigue, ends up "killing" the person as well. Especially if he's not cautious.

He is pleading and calling on "Mr. Curiosity" to come back to him and keep his interest in life itself alive, most probably because he has just come from a bad break-up or has lost a love that he treasures so much. It's a mystery why he still wants to "live" when the "love of his life" is gone, but he knows that it is curiosity itself which will bring him back to life. He knows that tragedies like these happen all the time, they "mean no harm," but of course, ignoring it will only diminish your own interest.

His helplessness leads him to desperately seek what he has lost, or at least something to replace it. He tries to "sound hopeful," to keep his interest and curiosity going, but of course, he cannot just ignore his recent breakup. He wants to move on without getting stuck, and he calls on Mr. Curiosity for this.

He wants to get over the breakup as fast as possible because he is rapidly losing interest in ... life, in love. He feels like he has analyzed the situation too much, studied it, and he feels like it's time to move on. But he can't without his "curiosity in life." So he asks Mr. Curiousity to "come back from the dead," and return in his life so he can continue on.

Also, he likens curiosity to something that will inspire interest in the person and he knows that there are a lot of things to celebrate, especially the fact that he is still alive (metaphor: "it's my birthday") but he can't seem to do so. He needs the inspiration that curiosity provides in order to move on in life.

"love is blinding when the timing's never right
but who am i to beg for difference
finding love in just an instant
    but i don't mind
at least i tried, well i tried..."

The last stanza is a reflection on the things that he has been doing, his damning his life and finding no meaning/interest in it already. He realizes that love itself is a mystery and that he is still curious about what it can offer. He knows that it has offered him something that he would like again. Maybe the timing just isn't right. Maybe life has something else in store for him. He doesn't know what the future will bring, and he's become curious again. But ultimately, even if there's none, he knows that there was some meaning in the love that he has found, even if he lost it. And at least, in the end, he still tried to make it work. And life if more interesting in the fact that things like these happen... :)

General Comment:This song definitely caught me off gaurd when I heard it. I started crying when he said it's making him cry. i'm way sensitive and especially when guys sound so hurt like he does in this song. The opera part is amazing. I love Jason. If he werent already with someone, my life's goal would be to get to meet him and maybe one day marry him. I cant help but feel chills when I look at his eyes and watch his music videos (especiall You and I Both). That's serious love we're talking about here. I'm sure millions of other girls are infatuated with him like anyone is with a celebrity but I really fall for Jason over and over.
