Lyrics for I Want To Hear What You Have Got To Say as interpreted by Fortunatus

I Want To Hear What You Have Got To Say Lyrics
Another day is here and I am still alive
I say these words aloud they speak from the inside
And everytime I see you, you just walk away
Still the world is turning...

I wanna hear what you, what you've got to say

My mind is all made up I'm doing all I can
I'm trying hard to think but i can't understand
Why everytime I see you, you just walk away
Still the world is turning, I will not complain

My head is spinning around i don't know what to do
If I'm so happy I've got everything to lose
And everytime I see you, I can't stand to stay
And now it's always raining,
You're the one to blame

And everytime I see you, you just walk away
Still the world is turning...

I wanna hear what you, what you've got to say

A great song to start their album. I love the way they show two sides to the situations they sing about by showing the guy's thoughts and then the girls. They do the same thing in At 1 AM.

I like both versions to be honest, but this one's a little better. Reminds me of the Von Bondies. I think it's about breaking up with someone and not being able to move on, even though everything else is passing you by as normal ie "still the world is turning.." And then perhaps trying to talk to the person you've broken up with but not really knowing what to say to them. I like the two different point of view thing as well.

yea i think the meanings pretty obvious. a couple split up and theyre not dealing to well and wondering why the other one isnt talking to them.

but i love how they show both sides. b/c it shows how each person is only 50% of the relationship...and the reasons someone isnt talking to you may not be what you think they are at all.

I can relate to this. There's a girl who I like and we were practically together for ages but now she ignores me all the time, "Everytime I see you, you just walk away". I went to a massive house party the other day and she was there. Someone put this song on it and creeped her out so much she had to leave the room.

This song is great. Open to a lot of interpretation. :] I actually think the boy who broke up with the girl. And he wants to hear what she has to say since he broke up with her. His mind's made up, he says, about breaking up with her. The problem is he can't understand why she doesn't still want to be friends and "just walks away." He wants to talk to her, and hear what she has to say, about the breakup, or just in general. Overall, he just wants to talk to her.

And she's trying to move on with her life, trying to be "so happy." She feels confused (her head's "spinning around"). And she can't stand to stay when she sees him, obviously, because she's so confused about everything. She feels like she's trying to put her life back together, and she has "everything to lose" when she sees him. She could break down again. She can't stand to risk that. She's still upset and thinks he's "the one to blame" for all of this, he's the reason why she's feeling like it's metaphorically "raining" all the time and she can only pretend to be oh-so-happy. She just can't handle seeing him at this point in her life, even though he's pressing her to talk to him.

:]

I agree the song is open for more interpretation. My interpretation for the moment (as for most people i guess, probably bacause i can relate to it for the moment) is different than the ones before: I think both the boy and the girl like each other, but handle it differently. The boy's got his mind made up, he likes the girl, speaks it out to her, they have a good time, but still at the end she walks away. The boy can't think of the reason, but because they keep going out (but not letting it get to serious), he doesn't complain (cause 'still the world is turning', they're still dating). Though not complaining, he's really curious why the girl doesn't just go for it with him, he want't to hear what she's got to say.

In the last verse we see the explanation: The girl likes the boy too, but is scared to let the boy into her life to fast (hence: 'if i'm so happy i've got everything to lose). That's why she can't stand to stay.

Perhaps this was the situation of the frontman/frontgirl in the beginning of their relationship? To me this song has an open end, they're in a situation where they both like each other, but where it's still unclear if it's going to work out because of the different ways they handle liking each other.
