Lyrics for Lines Of Light as interpreted by Fortunatus

Lines Of Light Lyrics
The Lines Of Light
They tell my mind I'm a child
Time passes by
And from it I cannot hide
The seasons know
But they won't show, they won't let go
No matter now
No matter now, time is slow

I think this song is about drugs... lines of light, etc... "tell my mind i'm a child"... kinda saying the drugs make him carefree again, like a child. I dunno, just my interpetation.

Check out Billy's thanks on the album sleeve:
"Billy: Grass, Skies, Sun & the lines of light that come to me at night, Fiends & Enemies...."
What a guy.

It's blatantly obvious that this song is about time. What aspect of time it's about, well, I'm not too sure to be honest.

sorry but i really dont think its about drugs.

its about TIME. lines of light...like on a digital clock, the numbers are made from lines. also it talks about seasons and even says time.

TIME ALL THE WAY.

FREAKING AMAZING.

such a great song. i love the subways
whether or not it's about drugs.. i dunno. but the guitar and just the sound of the vocals sound drug-related, even if the lyrics aren't about drugs.. if you get what i mean

Yep I agree with Fortunatus and deCorAteDemergency about the time thing. I really don't see any references to drugs and it doen't sound like a song thats about drugs in any other way. I think it's got more to do with the monotony of life.

one of the big subjects on Young For Eternity is the fear that the youth will end some time and that we will recognize that it was a very great time that will never come back. i´m 16 and i still have some years to be young, but i can imaging very good how it feels.
and i think this song is about this feeling and that we shouldn´t take to much care of it and just enjoy the time that remains ("time is slow").

seems like the tone of the song is pretty pessimistic. down or dreary.

too some extent you could say its about the feelings that come about when losing something. a person/object/moment/feeling. when you are conscious of your feelings. its seems like light mocks your current mind set. nothing stops light after all. it is pure, constantly moving and in the now. it laughs at your hanging in the past. and calls you a child, so to speak. it takes time to get yourself on the right path (of light) again. where you are fully conscious of the now and live in it.
as for the seasons, i think it refers to the sentiments surrounding certain events in your life, seasons each have their own sentiment and this correlates with the loss the song may relate too.
Time is slow, everything takes time to get over. It's natural, no matter now. It takes time to move from matter (fixation) into light(now-ness)...

this interpretation is quite general. but it seems like a vague text.
