I'm so glad I've found this
I'm so glad I did
I'm so glad I've found this
I'm so glad I did

It breaks when you don't force it
It breaks when you don't try
It breaks if you don't force it
It breaks if you don't try, try, try, try

People are fragile things, you should know by now
Be careful what you put them through

People are fragile things, you should know by now
You'll speak when you're spoken to

With one hand you calm me
With one hand I'm still
With one hand you calm me
With one hand I'm still, still, still, still

People are fragile things, you should know by now
Be careful what you put them through

People are fragile things, you should know by now
You'll speak when you're spoken to

People are fragile things, you should know by now
Be careful what you put them through

People are fragile things, you should know by now
You'll speak when you're spoken to

Ahh

You'll speak when you're spoken to
You'll speak when you're spoken to
He'll speak when he's spoken to
She'll speak when she's spoken to

Song Meaning:A bit bummed out that the lyric line isn't "people offer two things you should know by now; be careful what you put them through" I really loved thinking it was that, and for some reason I feel that it really is that. It makes more sense to me that way...I assumed he meant people only offer love and hate so be wise with how you treat someone. I think of karma when I hear this tune and makes me feel that one day we all pay for whatever we thought we "got away with". Think about it, you can easily go from loving to hating someone or, hating to loving someone (in general whoever they are to you)...life is just tricky that way!!

General Comment:The definition of munich is a dishonorable appeasement, and although there was one video made with a bunch of atheletes, there was a second video made of a typical day of a man at his dead end job, and how he was clearly unhappy. Maybe that has something to do with the meaning? Other than that, I got nothing, other than it's a great song!

My Interpretation:I think that the Comment about the History of Munich.
With one hand you calm me
    With one hand I'm still
With one hand you calm me
    With one hand I'm still

Also, in the Video, the athletes may represent the Israeli Athletes in the Munich Olympics

My Interpretation:I think a lot has to do indeed with Munich during the Nazi era and some of the events happening there, especially the relations and actions of people that were against the ideas of Hitler. I recently watched a movie called “Sophie Scholl – The Last Days” and it is about the anti-Nazi group of students from the University of Munich and their group called the White Rose… Munich was the center of all the Nazi “thinking” going on and this group was full of pacifists, calm, and good people with great minds and hearts. One thing that amazed me was their use by the Nazi court and police of the phrase:

You'll speak when you're spoken to
You'll speak when you're spoken to
He'll speak when he's spoken to
She'll speak when she's spoken to

If you watch the movie this song and the Munich relation makes sense

General Comment:This song reminds me a lot of the statue at the Nagasaki Peace Park (check out the wiki), except with one hand he's calming & one leg he's still.

    General Comment:I love the:
"With one hand you calm me
    With one hand I'm still
With one hand you calm me
    With one hand I'm still"
    Part.
I guess it is about how people are fragile and hard to properly get along with, as is shown in the past.

General Comment:Yes, it is definitely about what happened 1972, but it's their interpretation of Spielberg's movie- Munich.
Main character has a wife and they are apart for some time, and so on...and than he returns...
Even if he done a lot for his country he doesn't feel well,he has PTSP...but his wife is really a support he needed. Beautiful movie, when you see it,you'll understand maybe better... :)

    Sorry, I'm from Argentina...

General Comment:i sorta agree with binaural485.

the line "with one hand you calm me..." reminds me as a reference to a handjob

what a classic Freudian interpretation, eh?

General Comment:It's funny to see so many interpretations and some of you have a great imagination. But I don't think this is about a relationship. Doesn't make sense. I think it is most likely to be about the munich massacre, especially when you look at the video. The people running are inspired by Muybridge's early photography of movement by the way. And the athletes look mostly old-fashioned, not like present. Maybe not the whole song is about this, obviously their lyrics are not always supposed to be crystal clear. But 'It breaks if you don't force it' can just as well be meant as: when terrorists don't take action, they will never get what they aim for. It's pure guesswork.
